The fact that her simply lying about this one detail made the man walk free implies her word and circumstances were the only proof that it was him. If I were a judge, and there was no evidence of anyone else abusing her, and there was adequate reason to believe that the cop had been around her recently, AND she said it was the cop, then those are pretty fucking good grounds for a conviction.
