I [American] dated a girl from Ireland for a time. I can see where you are coming from. I had been talking to her casually in a group of mutual friends but did not sense any sexual tension from her end. One night I walked her to her apartment nearby and I asked if I could come in and she plainly said yes. It turned out that she was really very much into me. It was a great relationship and she could t keep her hands off of me once we dated.

Yea just sounds pretty insecure. People can think you look nice and approachable while another might think the opposite. Don’t worry about that bullshit.

Agreed, I have a friend that does very well in that sense despite being raised by a single mother. We must blame ourselves rather than our circumstances regardless of what kind of childhood we came from.

I like what you said about the battlefield shifting from the physical realm to the psychological realm. We are literally at risk of ourselves now. Consumption and comfort are the new perils...

Appreciate the brutal self assessment. Lifting helps boost overall mood and self confidence first and foremost. If you feel weak or emasculated, a solid gym session will have you feeling much better than you did before. As for the rest... I think you have a firm understanding of what your issues are and now you just need to work on each thing bit by bit. I cannot tell you how to be more determined. If you really want something you will work for it, if you don’t work for it, you just don’t want i…

Flakes will happen. Now I skip all conversation and just say “You’re cute. Want to go on a date Friday?” Still get flakes but many dates too. On whatever day you schedule a date just have a fallback plan so you don’t get too hung up about it. I don’t get snapchat or IG. Even though I use IG alot. Just ask for her number if she says yes and follow up with her on the day of the date or before if you feel compelled.

Ask a doctor - get bloodwork done if you are extremely worried about this. Do not self medicate or self diagnose! What you’re going through or are getting over could throw off your natural hormonal processes and can take some time to get back in balance. Worry more about maintaining a productive daily routine with plenty of sleep, robust exercise, and real nutritious meals. Many problems I thought I had were solved once I started practicing a healthier, more responsible daily life. Highly recomm…

Go to meetings. Period. Seen family members go through it and it really works. Again, as you have probably researched already: AA is a strange non scientific program based on religion and all kinds of other seemingly arbitrary bullshit, but the bottom line is that it is the statistically most successful way to rid yourself of this problem. I’ve been to a meeting with my mother once and it was pretty interesting... In conclusion: im not an alcoholic but my mother was and has been sober for years …

You ghost like your life depends on it. Just kidding... But really doing it to someone else you understand how easy it is to slip into that behavior and makes getting ghosted in the future feel less shitty. Just keep meeting new people! And work on the skill of meeting new people, use dating apps, social media, and practice talking to complete strangers. If you work at it, they will pop up, swallow your pride and don’t fret over why the last girl didn’t like you as much as you liked her. I think…

Another important question is, why would you want to be with a racist bitch anyway?

I think a big challenge people in early 20’s come across is energy management. Ever had a really productive start to a day, mark off half of the things on your to-do-list, then come home and all of the focus/willpower/focus is gone? Around college we start to really test our mental and physical limits: stay up for days at a time, heavy workout sprees, and deep study grinds. I would spend 10 hours doing school/exercise/eating/chores, 10 hours of video games/ and then 4 hours sleep average per day…

On point 3: Texting a girl “Wednesday or Thursday works for me, Friday I’m busy.” compared to “anytime this weekend!” Really let’s her know that your time is valuable and SHE is on a competitive plane.

I agree with that, you should not rest on your laurels or fall into regression of character. But the point I try to make (not clearly) that you don’t need to prove WHO you are to anyone but yourself. Walk silently and carry a big stick. Hemingway seemed to go out of his way to tell people “Hey! Im a tough guy!”, and acted like a grade-school bully in social situations.

If you ever read a novel, read one of his - they’re fantastic and dark. His writing style at the time was deemed unconventional because of the short, stark structure of his sentences. Reading it feels like the literature embodiment of stoicism. However, his life like his literature was dark. So much was he obsessed with masculinity, that his insecurity and substance abuse destroyed him in my opinion. His life reflects the incredible strength and potential of a man, but also the self destructive …
