This is what I have seen as well. It's easy for people to say they're "hiding" their opinions and women from you---but who are they marrying? No one's "hiding" that, and I don't know a single high value man marrying a woman under 28.

It didn't come off that way to me. It came off honest. I tried to date significantly older in large cities when I was 19. I didn't find a single older man who was a high quality man who was willing to date me. In my current circle, men who are in their late 20s and early 30s simply are not bringing their significantly younger women friends around. They aren't in serious relationships to them. I do think if you get into religious circles you'll be in a better spot but only slightly. There's a hug…

I can relate. I knew I wanted to be married to a good, strong man and stay home with kids by the time I was 14. I chose my college at least partially due to its high rate of marriages, same with my grad. school. I'm not unhappy with how things have turned out. I'm 30, with an amazing fiance, and a job I love. My partner is more than happy for me to stay home with the kids if I want. It's a good place to be. But the advice someone should've given me was to attend a religious college. If you're …

Are either of directly stimulating your clit? I didn't realize some women didn't do this until I was speaking to a friend who had inconsistent orgasms.

Does your husband watch porn? The reality for most men who watch porn is that they're not going to be as interested in their sexual partners. I'd also check, as others have pointed out, for low T. Seriously, though, the porn issue can break relationships.

I am around people that drink, and go overboard at times, and do various drugs None of those, imo, are character flaws. Cheating is. If you condone behavior in your friends, you tend not to consider it actually a problem. Immature, perhaps. Wrong? Usually not. OP has commented on his dominance and masculinity and such men are not 'pushed' into anything they don't want to do. So he actively wanted to and chose to cheat on his wife with a stripper and then expose her to a STD? That isn't reassurin…

He's been faithful despite their activities and personalities for years. That assumption seems silly considering his friend group, admitted infidelity, and willingness to expose her to a STD. His friendship was not a deal breaker for her, because she decided to marry him regardless of his friends. Agreed. Assuming she knew about his friend group's horrible moral character before marrying him she chose a bad bet to lead her and their family. And here we are.

Ah, okay. This makes much more sense. I was initially rather horrified :)

He is not abusive, neglectful, angry, irresponsible, or untrustworthy by reputation. What about his friendships with men who are routinely cheating on their wives? This seems to call into question his own trustworthiness at a core level.

The elegant, and reserved wife that calmly accepts her roaming husband. She never besmirches him, she never wails or wilts. She is strong and full of life. She knows that, though he wanders, she is at the center of his heart. That sounds delusional. The center of his heart would be someone he protected from shame, dishonor, STDs, etc. That center the roaming man's heart is himself. Bad captaining.

Putting you and the baby at risk shows a lack of character You don't think being friends with consistent cheaters does this as well?

They're his best friends (and apparently they all cheated with strippers/prostitutes) This was very much the dealbreaker you missed early on. Good people don't have friends like that.

Water seeks its own level. Your only part in this was choosing a man who thought this kind of behavior (alcohol+prostitutes) was ok - and lots of people say that is normal or "sowing wild oats" or other such nonsense so it makes sense that you would let it slide. But now you know better. So you did nothing to deserve this. Love it.

Some feminists do, some feminists don't. I mean, if I'm painting with a large brush every group is horrible, including men, women, and really just people. Not very helpful. If they were about women, they would have been celebrating Sarah Palin as vice candidate, they'd celebrate Ivanka Trump's successes. ...huh? You can disagree with someone's politics and how they comport themselves and be a feminist. Being a feminist isn't about always agreeing with other women's choices. That'd be rather horr…

Oh! I get that :) Nope, nope, I was wondering if maybe she lived in a conservative area or was surrounded by the elderly. Basically I was suggesting there's something wrong her group and she needs to find a new one.

Huh. Maybe I was unclear? With the exception of the very last component (presenting femininely), I was saying I hold the same or a comparable position and no one has ever given me grief about it, so I was confused about why she was getting such strong pushback.

Are suggesting that feminism can punish people for wrongful thinking? (In your example of thinking a woman is incompetent.) I'm suggesting that caring about cultural or societal biases and taking action to mitigate them is good. In this case, while you certainly can (but SHOULDN'T) punish people for their opinions, you can assess what components of their inputs are helping to create these perspectives and reduce them. For example, I'd claim that porn and women's limited role in popular films as …

Feminism is no longer relevant Eh, that goes too far. The bias against women's competency is still quite real as is violence against women. I think the biggest issue right now though is we're trying to lower the bar for EVERYONE down to the shittiest guy, rather than raising the bar for everyone to what we expect from women.

I do know my boyfriends have always been attracted to me because I'm a strong-willed woman One of my BF's large concerns early in our dating experience was whether I was capable of emotional intimacy because I seemed so strong and individualistic. I feel vulnerable and miss them a lot, I want to cuddle in their arms and feel small and protected. They have always seemed to feel uncomfortable when this happens. It makes me feel very alone. If they're choosing you based primarily on the fact you DO…

The latter received more attention My OkCupid profile was intended to weed out men. It's not hard to get male attention; it's hard to get the RIGHT male attention. Bimbo attracts the world, nerdy attracts people who share those interests. Sounds like a good idea to share interests with your partner.

It's a hard thing. Society is very sexist. Expectations on women often are more culturally normative than actually based on sexual preferences. For example, shaving. In many countries, women don't shave and that's cool and dandy with the men. Same with women being significantly heaver than is currently the ideal. Same with women refusing to perform sex acts that hurt them (anal can be painful, expecting that from a partner is insane). Anyway, my point is I see a lot of value in taking a step bac…

Hm. This is very interesting. When I was younger, I believed these things whole heartedly. The reality is I'm very intelligent and capable. And it's the rare person of either gender who is my equal or above; I'm perfectly willing to admit when I'm wrong or follow a better idea or honor someone else's feelings, but I am definitely not willing to make the wrong decision because someone less capable than me suggests it. I tried to find these alpha men I could happily submit to; I wanted to submit. …

I found an amazing guy using OkCupid where I explicitly said I was looking for a serious relationship aimed towards marriage. You want to filter out as many bad eggs as possible in these kinds of things.

Unless you're Sting, sex is not an extremely time-consuming activity. I suppose a simple poke until he comes would be pretty quick, but I require revving up. And I don't know about you, but sex is a pretty active thing for us, so having energy is pretty much a pre-requisite. It's a matter of priorities. We could go to bed earlier, which has been my traditional suggestion, but he's not interested in that. I don't know why you're so confident this is a huge issue. Quality of sex is, for me, a bigg…

Eh, I rarely turn down sex and often initiate, but we're both pretty busy people. I think the lower quality of sex over the past few weeks (in comparison to usual awesome over the past 2+ years) is a bigger issue that we've already explicitly spoken about. Further, I think it's inaccurate to say a happier relationship leads to x amount of sex. I think a happy relationship leads to WANTING to have sex, but, as I said, we're both rather busy so desire isn't really the issue. Sometimes sleep/work >…

Hm. I wonder if since my group of female friends tend to be quite professionally accomplished perhaps money and stability from a marriage just wasn't as strong of a lure. Babies, yes, but most of the women I know would prefer to raise a kid solo than marry a man they didn't adore. Anyway, I agree that's horrible. If a woman wants to make that trade, fine, but she needs to be upfront about it so the guy can appropriately manage his risks. Just like men (and women!) should be clear if they're havi…

Slightly true, but not 100% true. I've been annoyed at my SO for the past two weeks. We've had sex three times during that time period. All of them were fine, I guess, but we usually have amazing sex. Then we had great sex. And my annoyance was gone. He managed to spill water all over the damn place, and I just found it funny. He didn't help me clean the bedding after the cat puked everywhere, and I figured, eh, he scoops her litter. Whatever. I felt not a single negative feel, but I know if we …

To put some perspective on this, I find that boys tend to drop out of entering this state regularly and move into straight anger instead starting around puberty. I thought this was interesting and sounded familiar. My older brother was CRAZY emotional when he was young. But sometime around puberty his outbursts stopped being tears and started being anger. Scary, angry, violent outbursts involving the rest of us (five kids all in all) barricading ourselves in a room while he threatened to kill us…

I think this is a rather strong theory. I was with a man who did a lot of the RP techniques when I was fresh out of college. After two years of emotional drama caused by him and an almost obsessive fixation on him, the relationship ended. Both my sisters and I still leave men if they at all remind us of him. It's been five-ish years. I think it takes a certain type of women to need to learn that lesson more than once.

Eh, my SO does most of these things for me. Yes, it's very attractive. I think a lot of traits that are presented as gendered "goods" are actually just positive traits in a partner, regardless of their gender. Admittedly, I hate someone who doesn't judge me and hold me up to high standards; to me that stinks of weakness and lack of character in either gender.
