My understanding is that lifting while eating in deficit is beneficial for maintaining strength, endurance and burning calories during and after the workout. It's very difficult to put on muscle mass while in a caloric deficit. Some beginners can however put on muscle while losing weight. Anyway, yeah excuses excuses. Started at 6'3 116kg, 2-3 days a week I only eat a small dinner of bacon and eggs and no other calories. Other days I pretty much eat what I want as long as I stay under 50g of carbs.
