This is discrimination, yes, but it's not explicit. The problems on this page are pretty much about explicit discrimination that women face in most of the world still. I agree the male equivalent should be added to many of these, like for genital mutilation. In that case women actually have greater legal protection than men.

These aren't hate speech laws though, they are hate crime laws. A crime has to be committed then they determine if it's motivated by one of the protected characteristics. I personally think some types of verbal abuse should be against the law, otherwise someone could follow you down the street and shout in your face for as long as they wanted without fear of repercussions.

Man I heard about those Kavanaugh allegations this morning and the whole thing absolutely stinks. It's so obvious that this is a concerted effort to stop him from gaining the SCJ seat. I'm not American and don't care about it at all but it's just a farce. Given how easy #MeToo has made it to make these allegations and absolutely destroy someone you could've easily predicted that someone on the left with the right opportunity would come forward to accuse Kavanaugh.

I'm not sure: there will be a whole host of factors at play. I'd suggest that perhaps because women are given a greater level of support in society (particularly with regard to mental health care) and generally have better, more caring and larger social structures around them. It is well documented in the social sciences that women experience anxiety at a higher rate than men, on the whole. You could argue with the methodology though - much is self-reported, and looking actual diagnoses of anxie…

Girls are more susceptible to anxiety in general than boys. The post-modernists believe this is all to do with socialization rather than nature. I suppose, with anything, it's probably a bit of both. But some rational thought should be applied. There may be factors that mean that girls feel more pressure to perform well (maybe) but using the term "girls", to describe girls, is certainly not one of them. If it is I'd love to see the research on it though.

Actually, she should not. She is not a male, so no matter how much testosterone she takes she should not be competing in a male league. When you allow that, the converse is that men can compete in female leagues if they drop their testosterone to a sufficiently low level. And we can all see the problems there.

I was under the belief that this was because prostate cancer occurred mainly in older men versus breast cancer which could effect younger women. Just looked it up: average age of prostate cancer diagnosis is 66. I couldn't actually identify an average age for women developing breast cancer at a glance; but over half of all breast cancer diagnoses are in women over 70 and less than 5% of cases are in women under 40. Quite telling.

Those are fairly neutral, but of course they are informed by the same old body shaming narrative. Questions like "I have never felt like I need bigger muscles" or "I have never worried about people finding me attractive because of my height" would both be questions to do with self-esteem but from the perspective of female privilege.
