I suffer from depression and OCD that I now take medicine for. I have been called “retarded” for it (ironically by people far less intelligent than I), I’ve been told I’m ridiculous, and that I need to “grow up.” Maybe masculinity plays a role but the bigger problem is the way society stigmatizes those with disorders.
