Looks matter. But, other things matter more. Read chapter 4 of Evolutionary Psychology. They list things that make sense like if you're friendly, in the past, assholes could not survive in tribes becuase they would get kicked out. If you're caring, then you are likely going to take care of your son and wife. If you're a liar or a fake, then less chance of getting along in the tribe. All these things carried over for girls to read for them to be able to survive.
