After the first time, you ask if you are being detained. If you're not being detained, ask if you are free to go. If yes, walk away immediately with no further contact. If no, you ask am I being detained and so on. This is just going to infuriate the cop and make him that much more determined to "get" you on something. Clearly. You can tell when the cops arrive, and as soon as they get close enough to identify him (but still haven't gotten ID, or heard him speak his name) they start referring to him by his first name. I don't think it's necessarily a matter of styles (with the exception of Tae Kwon Do and Judo, the "sport" disciplines) as much as it's a matter of schools and teachers.
