I have some ASPD so I "suffer" from this dilemma as well. The only thing that helped is meditation and which has helped me control my emotions. Note this is also the only thing I have tried to "help" myself, so their are most likely other sources out there as well such as therapy

For me personally 2020 has been the best year in a long time for me. Which is because of self improvement. Alot of it had to do with cutting of bad toxic habits such as video games, jacking it to much, orbiting, eating unhealthy etc. Overall I feel like a completely different person than I was a year ago at this time, all for the better. And I am far happier now than I was back then

Check out /meditation (the subreddit) On their sidebar/wiki page they have some good explanations on different meditation techniques. On top of that there are some good YouTube videos explaining how to do it as well as guided meditations. Make sure to do it daily to, just like the gym, consistency is key. You won't notice benefits immediately, but again, just like the gym, in a few months you should be able to see a positive difference it has made
