I'm sorry you have to experience your parents' divorce. Divorce court is unfair and they don't seem to do what's in the best interest of the children. Continue to do what you're doing now — talk to others. Also, learn about emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and self-compassion. You don't have to repeat your parents' patterns. You're a different person. You deserve a peaceful and meaningful life.

You're describing my situation to a T. She's just projecting her insecurities onto you. She probably still does in covert ways. Continue developing your emotional intelligence. Read or listen to books about relationships with narcissists. You might find it very surprising how few of the traits you have (we all have some) and how many she actually has. Get your pay stubs or if you have your own business, get all the documents you need and a proposed family support amount you'll be paying. I had read about all the bias against men i…

Hang in there a little longer and document everything! Have witnesses who are willing to testify in court. Treat your first court hearing as if everything depends on it because everything does. File for divorce w/o her knowing.

Document everything and create timelines. Take pictures, videos, and have other adults witness the yelling and other abuse. Abusers will deny everything unless you have proof. Then, they will change the conversation. Maybe she will turn around or maybe not. Having documentation will help you have a conversation with facts and provide a list of issues to work on. If things go south, having documentation will help you get the best possession and visitation schedule for you and your children.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
