When most people use that term they really just mean “someone I don’t like”. And people like to talk about things and people they don’t like.

Just keep doing the best you can to be civil and amicable. Unfortunately you can't control your wife's actions, but your kids will see and appreciate the difference over time.

I consider raising the kids properly to be as valuable as earning the income to support the household.

or marry someone who earns as much as you do

If you think there's an opportunity there, go for it. My sense is that since half of marriages end in divorce, for divorce insurance to be financially viable for the providers, it would end up being prohibitively expensive for the consumers. Imagine how expensive homeowner's insurance would be if there was a 50% chance of your house being destroyed in a fire.

Never be married in California. The risk is just too great.

I definitely agree for unsolicited comments. But it can be hard to just ignore something the other person raises in conversation. Not everyone will recognize it as a trap.

Fair enough. I would certainly make an effort to respond nicely, but there’s no guarantee it would be received thusly.

If a woman got mad at my nice response to something she brought up, I’d start to get the sense that maybe we’re not a great match.

Best thing to do is to purge it from your memory as quickly as possible and move on (unless there’s a lesson to be learned for next time). Easier said than done sometimes but that should be the goal after a rejection.

I love how you used a fake name to protect "Chip's" privacy.

I tried that last one “These are some examples. Hope this helps” but it just felt awkward.

I feel like a pussypassdenied post should involve a woman attempting to invoke a pussypass - not just heinous crimes committed by people who happen to be female.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
