2	Was it always on the cards In my case, there was more to it, but I never thought throwing it away was in the cards. I had to recognize a real need to change myself over the last 15 years, but that process was slow and I’m not too bright. I think too much bitterness had already set in. 2	Was it always on the cards All of this is so similar. 30 years of marriage gone in what seemed to be an instance. Today, divorced since Feb 23, I think she was struggling for 10-15 years to stay with it. Being a stay at home mom most of that time, she was afraid financially to make the break. She waited for our youngest to finish high school, then moved out - 17 days after graduation - said no to counseling b/c all of her friends thought our marriage was not worth saving.
