Any challenge based solely on that would be thrown out in seconds.. De minimis is a Latin expression meaning "about minimal things", a legal doctrine by which a court refuses to consider trifling matters. This is a ruling, not a contract, the sentence in question is about joint custody, not about Andrew being primary carer. It's fine.

Nah, sticks&stones etc. It's mostly harmless fun, and when it's not I just feel sorry for the sad individual spouting it.. But I do feel offended when those words are turned into systematic discrimination

You're thinking of Julia Hartley-Brewer/ Michael Fallon who are behaving like responsible adults.. not Damien Green / some reporter he once met who's dragging his name through the mud for no good reason

Damien Green is having his reputation destroyed because apparently he brushed his hand against the leg of someone when sitting down next to them.... And guess what.. she's a journalist who's profiting from the publicity... It is a classic witch-hunt. any accusation with no evidence whatsoever and you're fucked..

"One man said: "The whole experience has been focused towards my wife… even consultants' letters about my genitalia are addressed to my wife. There seems to be no equality." Another said: "I now know what it feels like to be identified on official documentation… as an appendage to one's spouse." That's not 'insensitive' that's utterly shameful. My NHS experience is very similar, my partner was basically told to 'get him to bring in a sperm sample' .. I didn't get any consultation or advice.

Can't stand her work normally, but she's hit the nail on the head with this one.

It's absolutely discrimination. Luckily my country hasn't had a mandatory 'draft' for several decades; but I see no reason why men and women shouldn't be treated equally. If they believe that women will be sub-optimal soldiers, they should probably draft more women than men to make up for the difference.

So, 0.0054% of the population are male murderers, 0.0006% of the population are female murderers. This does not give us anything like enough data to make the assertion that men in general are more violent than women. The infinitesimally small number of people who commit murder are not representative of anyone. No-one would put up a "Blacks are more violent than whites" slide (and survive the day without being fired.)

From a similar article, it showed that: "“Men who were raised by employed moms are significantly more egalitarian in their gender attitudes,” said Kathleen McGinn, a professor at Harvard Business School. In other words, if you want your boys to become good men, go get a fucking job.

The same goes for the poor daughter who is shoe-horned into a path of 'being a strong woman' rather than being compassionate and caring, if that's her desire.

Yes, that would be the right way to achieve equality, this tests the assumption that feminists want equality.

There are measures for the number of crimes that go unreported, e.g. they survey people and ask if they've been a victim of a crime that they've not reported. Of course that is an 'alleged rape' as it's not been proven in court.
/r/MensRights23/10/17 09:41 AM
7

When discussing rape (by definition, in the UK, the perpetrator must be male for it to be 'rape') when the numbers go down it's "Under reporting" and when the numbers go up it's "An increase in violence toward women" Yet when they're comparing sex crimes against men and women they're happy to take the statistics on face value.
/r/MensRights23/10/17 09:39 AM
1

Needs more work, some good points but some of the statistics could be better explained! is just an unequal outcome, there's no explanation of how it relates to unequal rights. How many children have no contact with their mothers? how many of these are because the father was denied contact that they were actively seeking (at least some of these will be intentionally absent fathers, some will be 'father unknown' etc.) That's a good one, yeah, it sucks that you can have responsibilities without rig…
/r/MensRights23/10/17 09:26 AM
14

Gives some insight into the 'Black men are absent fathers' trope. I bet this woman would class herself as a 'single parent' on any surveys etc... I know so many men who put themselves so much stress (Caused by mothers of all races) to keep in contact with their children; and can see how those who don't have the resources or knowledge to stand up for themselves end up losing contact through no fault of their own. Edit: Have to say, I love the Advise Network.

Obviously feminists believe that their college campuses are a much more dangerous place than the slums of third world countries, war zones and deprived inner cities. What it really shows is that they don't care about the real victims, only themselves.
/r/MensRights22/10/17 04:18 PM

The main reason why women are less likely than men to reach higher-level positions is that they are their children’s primary carers Well ladies, if you want more parental rights than men, you get more responsibilities... In Britain, a mother’s wages fall by 2% for each year she is out of the workforce, and by twice as much if she has good school-leaving qualifications. So.. if you choose not to work, you lose out on pay-rises in line with average inflation? Shocking.

I agree with this definition. Any person who is aware of harassment should do everything within their power to stop it, without thought to the impact on their own career. (Including all the women who didn't report someone because "they'd never work again") And in OF COURSE you shouldn't expect to be congratulated for being a decent human being, gender has nothing to do with it.

The hypocrisy is strong with this one, even the article uses unnecessarily gendered language in 3 or 4 other places too... Audit all of your JDs to check for any use of ‘he/his/him But not She/Hers/Her, that's fine. Have you ever noticed that it’s women who pick up a lot of the slack for “office chores”? Nope Lever’s ERGs include Leverettes (a group for female employees) Purely discriminative, funny that they use '-ette' the diminutive, implying females are weak... They also use the term female …

There's also the fear that mentioning the fact that a woman is dressed inappropriately for the workplace will be seen as sexual harassment, or misogyny on part of the man.

I blame it on the article writer, they also put "The comedian began drinking at the age of just 15 with his much older friends" in the subtitle. This bit is just mangled: he'd drink Barcadi and Cokes in the pub with friends - some of whom were fifteen years old than him. but this bit is infuriating teenage love affair

It doesn't, but she lied to try and get it aborted after the termination deadline, failed to seek and ante-Natal care for the baby, took an international flight in the third trimester against all common medical advice, then failed to seek medical care for the child when she went into labour. They can't prove her negligence caused the child's death but any reasonable person would say she's culpable.

So, you think this would have happened if the 'assailant' was a woman? You claim to believe that pulling a weapon on someone is a legitimate response to someone talking to a child; I neither believe nor understand that position, so I don't think we have any common ground on any matter.

I live in a world where people interact with each other... if someone dared to SPEAK in the vicinity of my child, then walked away, what possible cause does a law enforcement officer have to intervene? Could they arrest someone for Reckless Speaking? Is being a Child Conversationalist illegal now? A man, who may or may not have been 'a bit weird'* spoke to a child, woop-de-fucking-do, this is not the sort of behaviour that warrants either a call to the police, or a news article. If a 'Woman dressed as a man' went up to a child and starting cooing over them, do you think someone would call the police? If it was a crazy drunk bag lady with cats in her hair I bet they wouldn't have called the police. *By your definition, I don't see how being dressed as a woman is particularly creepy in itse…

Unfortunately not 'totally' illegal. She has a chance of arguing that there is a genuine occupational requirement. And could argue that 'Men are rapists and women need protecting' is a 'legitimate aim'. I'm not a lawyer, and I don't know if there's any precedent that better defines what a 'legitimate aim' is... but it's not quite as black and white as you imply. In the UK unmarried men are only allowed to be put on their child's birth certificate, and therefore get equal parental responsibility, with their partner's permission.. Swap the genders and it sounds like a rule from the 1700s.

That ones a bit more subtle these days, they're not technically allowed to discriminate based on gender, but the gender disparity has got significantly worse since that rule was put into place. (basically the insurance companies made an algorithm that is 'coincidentally' prejudiced against men, whilst not actually putting if male then price = price*1.4 in the code) Source
