Weightlifting. Source: married to a man with a deep voice whose voice gets even deeper after he lifts.

When a senior co-worker pressures you to play pool at a happy hour, embraces you f(25)rom behind and uses his torso to make you bend over so low you're almost lying flat on the table while pressing his groin to your ass that's creepy. Even then I didn't report it because maybe he genuinely just wanted to teach me. My definition of creepy is lust-driven & severe violation of personal space, but you have to be sure it was lust-driven. A male co-worker hugging you is not creepy. Your Uber driver pu…

To play devil's advocate: women's lines are almost always longer and take forever to clear I guess due to periods, having to change tampons, make up, etc., so maybe this is just to load balance that?

Wtf, this is a huge deal! There's a world of difference between sex assault and rape. Thanks for illuminating this to me. What a bullshit stat. I bet the survey was sponsored by 3rd wave feminists.

Interesting. I still feel like women are probably raped more frequently because they're weaker, but good to know it's at lower rates than 1 in 5.

Oh no doubt about that. But I think there are a lot of women that don't report either. In certain countries girls get punished or even killed if they have premarital sex. Even in more moderate societies, some women won't report due to feelings of guilt. I myself didn't tell anyone I was painfully fingered by a 28 year old stranger when I was 11 because I felt like I did something wrong. So it goes both ways.

It's true that women are more frequently victims of sexual violence (1 in 5 women or 18.3% and 1 in 71 men or 1.4% have been raped in their lifetime by any perpetrator according to a recent stat). However, this in no way means that individual male victims suffer 15 times less the magnitude of trauma. Rape is rape. Rape support resources should be available to all irrespective of gender. Men should not be excluded from these resources as certain extreme feminists propagate.

:( This is the kind of woman that'd probably report someone for putting an arm around her upper waist when taking a group photo. Sorry - on behalf of the subset of women that don't react this way. I only cried once at work (personal issue) and coworker hugs meant a lot to me and helped me through the day. My coworkers are my friends. People shouldn't be afraid to give hugs! Wtf is happening to the world. We're becoming increasingly isolated; everything is becoming political and polarized.

I definitely agree that not all women can calibrate their reactions to correspond to the magnitude of the incident, but they really should. Regarding OP's article - I highly doubt this man has raped 2 women at the party. He probably grabbed them and I just fundamentally don't think that being touched in a non-painful way as an adult woman is all that traumatizing. Annoying? - yes. Can it make you disappointed in the man's character? - yes. Traumatizing? - come on... You're right there were multi…

Look. It's not like my ass fell off and I was permanently damaged because he grinded against me. Nowadays the fallout potential from sexual assault accusation is such that we women need to be hyperaware of it and report carefully only when it's a legitimate problem. If this happened again I'd probably try to resolve the issue by talking to him. I'm not ruining the life of a man with a newborn baby who is, to the best of my knowledge, a good man just because his impulse control was impaired by al…

Someone 2 titles and 9 years my superior acted a bit inappropriately towards me at a corporate party this summer (tried to teach me pool, embraced me from behind in the process, pressed his crotch against my ass and grinded), but I didn't tell anyone because he's married with a baby (less than a year old) and I didn't want to ruin his career. We were all drunk and all make mistakes.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
