I can't agree with this comment. I'm female and I understand consent. This woman has zero empathy. She doesn't care about him. She didn't care he was uncomfortable. It's all about her. I don't think she's feeling bad that she hurt him. She doesn't want him to avoid her.

While I have never looked into this I don't think it would ever happen. State 1 does not have jurisdiction over things that happen in state 2 (as far as crimes go, civilly there are some exceptions). Some states are threatening this but I just don't see it being upheld. Of course I never thought Roe would be overturned so take this with a grain of salt.

I don't know. I would need to think on it. My gut reaction is that anything held in secret is inherently flawed. I tend to think that persecuting false allegations is better but that in and of itself has issues too.

I never considered looking at the disparities through a gender lens. I see the inequalities but there is so much injustice I get overwhelmed with it.

It's super unfair too. Think of how coercive that situation is. He feels like he has to defend himself because otherwise he'll get kicked out of school but saying anything could mean going to prison. You've peeked my interest. I'm going to look more into these college tribunals and see how they are used or if they can be used in a criminal case.

If you are actually interested in learning about it I can look up some case law for you. Case law can be difficult to understand though. The book is going to break it down in an easy to understand way.

It would be pretty hard for them to confuse me with the US criminal justice system lol. I don't think they were expecting me to have any resources 😂🤣. I wasn't willing to waste time looking up case law they will never read... Or if they did they wouldn't understand but I was able to send them to resources I had laying around. Wrongful convictions is a passion of mine.

The US system has no such thing as a finding of innocence. The US supreme court has even said actual innocence does not matter. We have people in prison right now that we know are innocent but because there were no error in the proceedings and they received a "fair" trial their appeal was denied.

I don't understand your comment. In the US there are two parties in a criminal case, the state and the defendant. So if you mean it's the prosecutor's job to represent the interest of the state that is correct. Keep in mind that most county attorneys or states attorneys, or whatever your jurisdiction calls them, are elected so they are not going to prosecutor an alleged victim especially when there are victim advocacy groups pushing the narrative that rape is extremely hard to prosecute. This is absolutely true. I practiced family law for half a second. It was awful. The accusations of physical and sexual abuse with absolutely no evidence as an attempt to gain custody of the children happens very often. I could never understand the willingness to hurt your children just to keep them from their father. Completely disgusting.
