I read your post on finance. I am currently active duty navy. We own five rental properties and have an Amazon business, manufacturing in China and selling in the states. We just bought shoes for the kids for my brothers wedding online (the shoes were online, not my brothers wedding). They don't fit. We won't return them because we don't have time. Maybe my wife will return them. I hope she does but I dont really care. I used to count money in the tens for my needs, then it was the hundreds, the…

Thats the paradigm ive had for a long time. Commentors such as yourself either have forgotten or do not have experience with conditions where the female has 30+ years successfully practicing manipulation, resorting to violence, lying etc... and that even the best leadership cannot stave off very dangerous attitudes that are beyond insuobordibate, but are destructive, and psychologically harmful to the children. How long does it take to work with her to overcome a 30 year plus addiction to harmfu…

Further, understand I've made the switch between somebody trying to understand things in a fixable context, where I frame it as something that I can fix. The fact is, saying that the gravity of the scenario justified my wife's behaviors is just another example of me enabling her and not doing what I should have done a long time ago.

Additionally, the incident of waking my mother up in the middle of the night to tell her she has to leave, for no reason except she was not getting a rise out of me otherwise, was a bit of a red line. At that point I could not conceal from my family the extent of what hell it is to be married to my wife, and continue to be in denial. If you believe in the possibility of a female too old and broken to fix, then understand that is my wife at 33 years old. Your conclusion is arbitrary based on my e…

You can reach that conclusion. Earlier posts maintained a denial that my task was impossible. Not for my lacking, but for who she is. I wanted to make this work, I really did. So when I'm working on things, what good is it to say "I dont think I can fix her she's too broken". No. I'm going to say "I'm making progress but struggling here here and here". The fact is I am reconciling to the impossibility of my task. I'm reflecting on three years of uphill struggle where she reprises with increased …

Well I guess if you look at the red pill too formally, itself it becomes a prison of concepts. You are talking about a lot of your personal challenges, many of which involve coming to embrace yourself for who you are. You define yourself externally in many ways. You seem to have a bit of resentment. I get the feeling that you wish you were more conventionally successful at the point in life where you are at, and probably often feel like an outsider on occasions. I may be right, I may be wrong. I find myself like this when I have a lot on my plate. I have to do a b and c that I Dont want to do. Meanwhile what I really want to be doing is something else. I'm split and I'm mad. I'm holding my environment accountable instead of myself. I've lost site of the mission that put me where I am. The original thoughts that led me to where I am either did not account for complications or the toll of stress has been born more harshly than projected. Chances are you are trying to fix things by adjus…

This is super insightful. In truth, these experiences Dont feel like straight shit tests, but also, they are not comfort tests. I try to be empathetic and show her I recognize what she does, and she gets angry when I do that. She is a great wife, but also has this dial personality of a spoiled brat. She is also highly competent then fly's off the handle at me when she is frustrated in areas of joint interest. I know on one level she doesn't feel recognized for what she does, and I drive her very…

Thanks for forcing the hard look at some truths. The fact is I am in the Navy, and we've moved 3 times in two years, and I've been gone for a total of 9-10 months. Divorce rates are much higher in the military. We both like our marriage. What took me to RP is that I need all the equipment I can get my hands on to make things work better, with all the extra stress. The thing about the "you're not here argument" is that I was careful to make sure she knew what she was getting into and should have …

I got punished because I entered a back and forth. Not because I treated her with dignity at first. I lost my shit because I became offended that she was being a bitch. That's where I fell. NOT by being nice in the first place. BTW I didn't downvote. To prove it, I just downvoted so your -2 comment is now -3. Sorry that's so important to you.

I wasn't in that place frame-wise. The only way at this point that I could keep frame, is if I shut my wife down. She was not looking to me for a solution. She was looking at me to vent her frustration on me. Are you even married??? lol

I agree with your description of the dynamic. but listening to her problems when she is behaving is not a bad thing. And that's not what I did either. I said "we will get through this" because her granny just past away. Yes, I guess I can tell when she is spoiling for a fight, and shouldn't even give her an opening at that point. BUT her gramma just died. That's kind of the whole point of my post, is getting lost in navigation when out of the ordinary occurs. In the end - I give it to you. You a…

There's lots of very fixed views on here that are filled with projections. I think that in some cases, leaving the room is correct. There's no reason to sit there and listen to nonsense but a bratty wife. What do you mean about the oak?

Thanks. I need a kick in the butt, and I agree with your assessment except: "Im sorry this is happening to you. we will get through this" before she is being a bitch, is fine, because I am open to hear her out about her problems if she is behaving and I have time. However, as soon as strike one occurs, yes, I agree, get the beer.

Very challenging time, I've not reacted as well as I'd like. I was out all last week across the country for work. Our kintergardener confided in my wife about severe bullying at school. Some odler kids were literally cornering him and taking his clothes off daily. The wife of course is freaking out and angry that I'm not there to help, which is fine, I'm going to do what I need to. I begin calling the school, CPS, lawyers, counselors, all from across the country. Flying back: Landing for a layov…

Just for discussion, I think the same sort of forgiveness/love should be available for the same ltr that caused scarring before an rp transition, but whom the man decided to retain after fixing himself. Thanks, I like that. Thank you for directly answering the question. This post is already a few days old and I've significantly upped my mindset since posting, as I knew would come. Since this forum largely concerns honest self analysis, I think admission that a 'rut' can affect even the most verile and rp man can lead to an important discussion about how to treat that scenario. This would be true for me at the onset of marriage/kids, when before I'm spending even more time dating/going out. But I think the time saving over age will become less, because if I would have stayed single, I wager my professional life would have received a greater proportion of time at the expense of my dating single life.

I guess I didn't get the memo. Than you for spending so much time helping me to understand how powerful and confident a position you are coming from. You have made a lasting impact on the world, and I'm sure your wife will fuck you in the ass twice tonight instead of once, for how awesome you are.

That's naive. Even Frederick the great, in winning the seven years war, considered killing himself numerous times. Sometimes strains are such that disciplined action carries us to the next clearing. If you aren't occasionally touching the boundaries of strain and your own limitations, what are you doing? Either staying in your comfort zone or pretending to a false confidence. My inquiry was asking men what tactics they employ at the boundaries of comfort and strain. You sound like a lying fuck s…

I'm sure you are getting torn up in the ass area enough so let me empathize with you. I think its great you are making a positive change for your own wellbeing/long term happiness. My experience is that women are risk averse to change, at the same time that they want you to be flourishing and increasing in your income. That's exactly what I was thinking when I read that. My wife will suddenly realize that her bitchiness ahs been ineffective, she'll be bored, then come up with one hell of a wallup. Usually her finest work is right when I am feeling most successful with RP. Complacency is a killer.

My lifting limitation is also my right shoulder. I feel that I could put more weight on but I am hesitant. I could take a break for 6 months and let it heal, but as of now I am able to maintain it at current performance without feeling like it is getting worse. If I did take a long break to heal, I would increase training in MMA, which right now, I do twice a week, and I lift 5-6 times a week. I would switch to MMA 5-6 times a week and do calisthenics and physical therapy type exercises for musc…

What do you want more time for drinking or video games, or do you want to chatter on the phone like my wife for two hours? I'd rather shovel snow, house work, do this, do that. That's my point though. Mental load is not difficult. This is about being a better you - - show your family that taking a burden that they are overwhelmed by is not as difficult as they think. This will make a SO who is temporarily overwhelmed more diligent. Also, if she knows that you have her back, she will not stress a…

There are different circumstances. My wife works part time, so I know that just the time involved in keeping up the house requires me as well. Theres a limit to what I would ask her to do without stepping in. Like when I tell my son to clean his room, but its such a mess he just sits there depressed: I go in and started shoveling toys into the box for all of five minutes, knowing that eventually he will see that it is not that hard, and leaving him with a small and manageable portion of the task…

Easy to say, especially the last part: "make sure she stays in line" Believe me, I want her to be involved, but I can't involve her without her then attempting a power struggle to the point that I may as well relinquish control to her and do what she says. My strategy is like to taming a wildhorse, demonstrate complete control without relinquishment until she is ready to function symbiotically.

So that it isn't assumed that I am equally at a loss everytwhere, but am looking for specific insight as related to this experience. I think this experience most broken down: I have had success setting boundaries. My wife needs a boundary set in <major life scenario> and I am unable to cultivate that boundary without shutting it down entirely.

That's the one highly recommended piece I haven't made time to for and I think I absolutely must. I did go too Rambo at first, and I may be going to Rambo again. A lot of my early Rambo I burned down the house, the yard, the world, and then rebuilt it on my terms. She stuck around for it but there was probably a lot of unnecessary ugliness. Thanks. I know deep inside that you are right. Part of it is ego. I want to do things a certain way, but when she comes in, she manages to steamroll over that. I am more measured and I can't incorporate her steamrolling and still maintain confidence. I feel like I am being browbeaten. This has been something that was prevalent in a lot of areas of our life, but I have managed to win her respect and submission almost across the board. It has become me vs her I agree. I don't like it. I am turning to this forum because I have come here for similar reasons to many readers. There may be others who have had a similar experience and found insights that apply. We are not so wealthy that a real-estate investment is nothing, but at the same time, it is a spouse who is nto following the order I am providing and needs to have boundaries arranged. I don't know. I wish it was that simple. My wife is quite intelligent and very manipulative. She wants to be equals on this project and she wants to drive it. The only way I can control it at all is telling her hands off period. Otherwise, she will leverage any opening and attempt a hostile takeover. Our marriage has a lot of great elements, and I even like my wife's ferocity when it is not applied against me. Your desire for self-honesty is evident, and so is your cognitive dissonance. You are still in her frame though. I never trust any appeals to reason that my wife makes, its just a Segway back to unreason. I failed to set appropriate boundaries for my marriage, and rules for my wife at first because I was a dumbass, but since I started the RP journey, I have made gains by basically burning down situations where my earlier shortcomings came into play. Thats rough. Part of me wants to say that many conditions are symptomatic of circumstances, that they are words used to describe the sum of events - and in that sense I want you to keep using the rp tools - but legitimate disorders are beyond my experience. My wife can be very nasty but the rp tools have given me enough hope that within six months to a year i can fix things, but only if i am able to take maximum accountability.

This may be controversial, but I recommend trying a few more strategies. Sometimes I think all of the personality disorder stuff is very specific to our relationships, and the relationship can change when one person changes, and that person has to be you. I recommend withdrawing participation in things she has come to expect you to participate in, and developing apathy for her preferences. Throw her off. Change expectations. Fog when she asks whats going on. Develop hobbies. Start playing rugby …
