Baseless anecdotal experience: my wife works with tons of lesbians who constantly harass her at work. No what you said is entirely true, but jurors aren't objective thinkers. You are correct that the boyfriend took a plea deal, but the young woman went to trial (in my belief) using her gender in a persuasive manner to project a different scenario. Testifying, she had "no knowledge" of the incident. Then, why would the boyfriend go back to cover the scene of the crime. P.S.: She was found guilty and sentenced, but had her sentence remanded...is that fair

Nope someone posted a thread about a judicial verdict (http://www.kptv.com/story/24602029/no-jail-time-for-teen-driver-who-killed-girls-playing-in-leaves) and redditor TA_42 saw no flaw in the outcome of the sentencing administered by the court. I'm glad your experience was good, but i don't think affirming the "we're all a family" argument and "just defend yourself" stance verifies sexual assaults are being reported accurately. Being a warrior influences the way we empathize with victims of sexual assault? All i'm suggesting is "victims" are targeted for speaking out, not that the instances of sexual assault are higher than they are in the civilian population.
