I love stories and testimonials either from members here or from various publications/media. I loved the post about Mariah Carey’s memoir for example. I’m also older and love stories of HVW doing successful things where marriage is not the end goal.

Holy shit! I briefly dated someone who was also in a short term marriage and she too attempted suicide a few times. I remember thinking, what the hell did you do to that poor woman?? He too was overly obsessed with his youth and really concerned with aging, way more than me. I like getting older and settling into my true self.

When I see comments like this, I wish we could be friends. So much of this resonated with me: the priority on sleep, no kids or a desire to have any, desire for deep emotional connections, and now a renewed focus on everything else that a romantic connection could distract from. Thank you for posting.

Yes, I was in a long marriage. I don’t want to marry or cohabitate again. I’m also not dating actively but have done some casual dating where I employ FDS strategies and tips. I’m not interested in being a man’s mother or his therapist or his servant. I have a few men who meet my emotional and sexual needs as needed. I spend most of my time with my girlfriends, and on professional development, and my own self care. Marriage also is not beneficial to women, men benefit more. Further more, most me…

I found FDS because a woman made a brilliant comment on datingoverthirty, I looked at her comment history and found FDS back in maybe February(?). My entire world shifted! I read the handbook immediately and began changing my entire attitude about dating immediately! So thank you!

This is a really terrific post. One minor criticism, most of these frustrated and angry men tend to call themselves “conservative”, “liberatarian” (the former being really a standin for wanting the 1950s housewife/maid fantasy more than anything to do with fiscal conservativism) and thus cannot possibly understand the analogy of the factory worker. And as for these supposed “libertarians”, empathy is clearly lacking and they live in some strange bubble. But given their lack of reading comprehens…

Maybe he should consider “bottled blonde internet pest and alpha female troll” (in the words of chloe), Tommy Lauren.

You could send it to @bestofnextdoor on twitter. They often post stuff like this and title it “this is not a dating site.”

I keep ricocheting between wanting a relationship and being happy solo. I’m avoiding dating apps and obviously can’t meet anyone during a pandemic, but how did you make peace with your reality?

This song came on and I was about to post this song here because I was wondering why this song wasn’t on the FDS spotify list. Such a beautiful song!

Something to also remember: many men don’t really know women’s sizes.

I’m about you age and I was at the exact same place a few years ago. Starting over was indeed a challenge but I’ve been given a new life. Zero regrets, just wished Id left earlier but that’s water under the bridge now. This sub is an everlasting fountain I keep drinking from, can’t say enough good things about it.

Specific to the pandemic, to combat loneliness I pursue my interests and hobbies, I watch videos/movies/documentaries, read books, and just go down various rabbit holes depending on the subject. While I’ve been reading about Black history for a few years now to educate myself, I’ve been studying the prison abolition movement the last few weeks so I can better understand Black activists. I’ve been researching local non profits and doing an assessment of my own values so I can plug in as a volunte…

I tolerated it from my ex for a long time because I honestly didn’t know better. He was my first and assumed all men were like this. He shamed me for my cleanliness preferences. I briefly lived with a guy roommate who was a stickler for cleanliness and that’s when I realized not all men were gross like that. I then very briefly dated a man who was a LVM in many ways but I ended things because his hygiene and bathroom was nasty. So today: I expect cleanliness as a bare minimum, along with other t…

I got this line many times when I was your age, 20 years ago. Listen to the other women on here - run. That’s not a compliment, coming from him.

There was another thread posted about a woman, a CEO(!) who laid off her employees and shutdown her company because her unemployed husband couldn’t handle taking care of their son for three days!! And on Twitter there were many women talking about doing away with men altogether since they were competent and were fine being a parent to a child without being a parent to a man child to boot. And I have to say, I’m down for this movement.

I want to state that I truly and completely appreciate you both. I also appreciate that you’re a black woman controlling the space for women only and especially on reddit. I found FDS a few months ago and instantly recognized that WOC were playing a prominent role behind the scenes and that made my heart swell even more. I unequivocally support everything you’re doing here.

Thank you all for posting these tik toks. It’s so rewarding to see women state these truths and hope this message spreads far and wide.

Thinking about a recent ex, that absolutely turned out to be true in that he was a misogynist/narcissist. But I wanted to ask how you know that with such certainty that this guy could be as well? OP: definitely quiz him on why he’s single. How has he recovered from prior romantic encounters? Has he gone to therapy or does he expect you to be his therapist?
