Your arguing is actually getting worse, fyi. That's not an insult, it's a rebuttal. And I said otherwise where? you claimed more women rape than men here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/5y6jhw/cmv_i_have_come_believe_that_feminism_stigmatizes/dep4ih7/ and here https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/5y6jhw/cmv_i_have_come_believe_that_feminism_stigmatizes/depoob2/ You were proven wrong by your own study here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/5y6jh…

Has it accord to you to actually ask me to support it? lol, no, no it hasn't. In a debate sub, on a debate thread, it didn't occur to me that someone making baseless claims needs to be asked to actually back up their claims directly. Most people would understand that explicitly through the forum. The rest would likely figure it out implicitly through the fact that the other commenters are consistently providing arguments and that maybe you should, too. I have gotten condescending towards the end…

Again, reading comprehension. That's not saying that 52% of males (which is still more than 50%, so still directly contradicting your claim that females assault more) commit a violent sexual act at that age. It's saying that, among those who do commit an act, the age at which they first commit some act ace much, much higher for younger males and it's not til this age where the first acts become somewhat equal. This is because it's measuring the first act, and as you can see in the study, most pe…

Because 'mental gymnastics' and 'jumping through hoops' are two very, very different phrases that mean totally different things, and since I was doing neither, neither of them make sense? Now, it's been close to 10 comments since you actually tried to back your claims up in any way, shape, or form, so I'll assume you've realized you were wrong about the author claiming that 'all men are rapists', unless you pull some new source out.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/17 05:23 PM
1

I literally complimented you, to avoid insults. Are you not trying to say "jumping through hoops"? Does that have some esoteric idiomatic meaning? Cause google just corrects it to 'jumping through hoops', which, again, doesn't make sense in your context.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/17 04:45 PM

Did you even make it past the abstract, cause their conclusions seems to indicate you're reading something wrong: In studies that include both adolescent males and females as perpetrators, females are less likely to engage in sexually violent behavior than males.13- 15

Is english maybe not your first language? That'd explain why your idioms are wrong and the reading comprehension issues. If so, it's taken me this long to put together, so you're doing really well. I couldn't make it this far in French without someone realizing it was a second language. Anyways, the sentence you just typed doesn't make sense. I think you're trying to use the phrase "jumping through hoops", but that refers to doing a bunch of extra things to get some small reward.

First, that's not what a straw man is. Second, you claimed that the author believes all men are rapists https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/5y6jhw/comment/deoxkq3?st=J02HQGPD&sh=01b9069e and your evidence for that has devolved to simply "the author admitted she was angry at one point". https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/5y6jhw/comment/dep6wog?st=J02HUXLZ&sh=853a25e1 Unless you have something better than that, you don't have a leg to stand on anymore.

And you're saying that every angry person believes that all men are rapists? If you'd reread my last comment I was pretty clear about how your quote is a great example of what I meant.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/17 07:15 AM

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Antecedent The 'fact' that line is referring to is the fact that her daughter was raped. The quote you're ascribing to the author's belief is still just a quote in the novel. You can't ascribe every character's quotes to the author's opinion. Like how Orwell obviously believed that all people, all genders were equal. Hence why he was a feminist. Your quote, then, is the exact opposite of the author's actual opinion and is exactly what I was talking about.

Yes, the 8 paid weeks I get off to bond with my son benefits women more directly than me, because it may help close a $.07/hour wage gap.

Spoken by a fictional character, from a work of fiction. and is often cited, wrongly, as one of the tenets of modern feminism. Should be all you need to put it together that the author doesn't actually believe that statement.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/17 10:41 PM

And? It still is a feminist issue that benefits men more than women, as is clear in that article if you read the whole thing. Change can benefit both sexes.

Marilyn French, the woman who coined the term "All men are rapists," had this to say about the whole thing: The novel's [The Women's Room] best-known line - "All men are rapists, and that's all they are" - has not been an easy legacy for the next three decades of feminism. Spoken in anger by one of the book's most radical characters, a woman whose daughter has been gang-raped, it entered the popular lexicon and is often cited, wrongly, as one of the tenets of modern feminism. French's own daught…

I know your time in /r/altright really only exposed you to your bubble, but a lot of what you posted is factually inaccurate. 1, feminism is about 'equality of the sexes' and benefits men in ways like: trying to end/equalize the draft, trying to get male rape victims respected, and trying to balance the imbalanced legal system. If you did read any actual academic sources about feminism rather than watching anti-feminism outrage porn, you'd know that. Women work, too. There are plenty in the work…

Feminist man here, literally no one I've ever met who identified as a feminist, even the (actually) blue haired ones have ever expressed this either. And the original source of the quote always said that it wasn't a literal or factually-intended quote. It's from a fictional story ffs.

Gender studies includes women's studies, men's studies, sexuality studies, and LGBT studies. You're overly narrowing the scope because it fits your narrative. Intersectionality is a concept that came up in high school psych class. It basically says that identity politics focusing on a single aspect of someone gives an incomplete view. Someone isn't just female, she's also white, and poor, and straight, and baptist, and from chile, and... I don't see how that comes across as some conspiracy.

I minored in evolutionary anthropology and all discussions about gender were totally science based in those courses. Brain scans, psychology studies, hormone ratios and release rates, etc. None of the science contradicted feminism's claim that 'all genders should be treated equally'. lol, no. And that's not what anyone has claimed in recent history. What anyone who's followed any amount of research understands that, accounting for personal choices like major, par/full time status/childcare, etc. there's still an unexplainable 5-7% pay gap. https://web.archive.org/web/20131008051216/http://www.consad.com/content/reports/Gender%20Wage%20Gap%20Final%20Report.pdf

LOL. AFI does consider many of mine in their top 50 RomComs. So even by your definition, you have to admit probably ~80%+ of mine, which are all found on various critics' lists of RomComs, are Men-accepted RomComs. 40 year old virgin made the list. Annie Hall Jerry Maguire Pretty Woman Say Anything Sixteen Candles Should have been on my list, but weren't: There's Something about Mary Wedding Singer Clueless, which is definitely on par with several of my 1990's movies.

Yeah, I asked OP for a definition a few times and haven't gotten one, but there's always going to be some difference of opinion about what counts and what isn't quite enough. In my opinion, N count is purely consensual encounters. I even have no problem with a rape victim saying they're still a virgin. While I appreciate the cutesy metaphors of how you're using 'owns' that's not what advocates of the C/FM marriage mean when they say own. They use it as a denigrating term meaning she's less than a full partner in the marriage. The 'united in one entity' aspect comes wholly from the wedding ceremony and any marriage licensure involved.

Especially since much of marriage is on a state-by-state basis. Regardless, the OP never specified what kind of contract. Maybe /u/sen--sen signed a contract and the marriage was the fulfillment of the contract itself. I get that some may take the idea of 'patriarchy' way too far sometimes, but you see that there are people in this thread literally saying that they want their wife to take their name to signify that the husband owns them. That's literally the definition of patriarchy. Like, the literal dictionary definition.

That's exactly what I said though.

I totally agree with you. That's the definition of serial monogamy. It has no denotation of STR status, though some seem keen on projecting it in.

Either you linked the wrong study, or you're drawing conclusions that aren't there. That says that 20% of college students (not just women) who self report to hooking up (so virgins are already eliminated) have that many partners. Of course a 9 minute relationship can be monogamous. Find me a dictionary whose definition of monogamous precludes that.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/10/16 12:31 AM
1

Except that there are plenty of people in this thread saying you're projecting more into the definition than it contains. That's why we have all these modifiers. "Fishers of men" is also a really bad example since it's a metaphor and not just a phrase.

That's not my definition that's the dictionary definition. Those are relationships [interactions between two people]. Those are monogamous [the only concurrent sexual relationship for both parties]. They are not committed. They are not long term. They are not serious. They're not traditional. But that's why we have these other adjectives. Because monogamous has one definition and it doesn't worry about other factors. Could you imagine how many words we'd have to have if every single one covered …

Monogamous literally means that it's the only current sexual relationship. Nothing more, by definition. If you're friends with benefits, or fuckbuddies, or married, and you're both only having sex with each other while that relationship is active, is a monogamous relationship. Full stop. A ONS who the guy texts for a while but nothing comes of it is technically a monogamous relationship until he sleeps with someone else. People who drunkenly hook up a few times over a six month period (despite f…

Then why ask if she was monogamous in her history? If she's going to lie about anything, you can't trust anything she tells you anyways. I believe every girl who's ever given me her n count. Most of them were at 0 when we started our relationship and my wife was at 0 when we started dating in college. I also don't care one iota about n count as long as she has no STDs, I'm totally good. I think you're taking that one person's view to be too widely accepted. You can see reds and blues on both sides of this discussion in this thread alone.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 08:00 PM

Technically relationships that last 9 minutes are monogamous too. And technically, technically is all that matters. I'm glad you're finally seeing the definition.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 07:59 PM
2

Why is 'long term relationship' a phrase then, if all relationships have to be long term? Don't you and I have a relationship right now, "two people discussing sexuality in a forum" is a relationship. It's not a sexual one, it's not a romantic one, I suppose an 'academic relationship' is probably the best phrase, maybe, but we have a relationship because we're interacting.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 07:58 PM
1

Every definition I've used has the exact same time requirement: the length of the relationship. If the relationship lasts 2 hours, and it wasn't a threeway, it was a monogamous one night stand. If the relationships last a week and are concurrent, they're non monogamous. Words have meanings. Monogamous means "only one sexual relationship at a time"
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 07:55 PM
3

Because we're not talking about marriage here, we're talking about sexual relationships? This wouldn't be a question if monogamous meant only 'married' don't be ridiculous.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 07:49 PM
1

No, if you're having sex with person a on tues, wed, and thurs, and person b on mon, wed, and fri, you're non monogamous.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 07:48 PM
3

Ok, but what about married swingers? Or married people in a poly relationship? Or married people cheating on each other? They're all monogamous to you, just because there's a sheet of paper involved?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 06:18 PM
1

That doesn't cover every case though. What about people in long-term, committed, polyamorous relationships? Or would you say that's exclusive because it excludes everyone not in the polycule?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 06:17 PM
7

This whole thread to me, based on the question is a semantics debate. I think the personal opinion about marriage comes into play here. I believe that two people can be unmarried and monogamous long-term, and be more strictly monogamous than a married couple. But in the majority of cases, married couples certainly at least intend to be more strictly monogamous than an unmarried couple would be.

I agree with every single thing in this comment other than addition, to me a string of those indicates a woman that maybe can't make up her mind, or perhaps is overly picky on things. Or any other number of things I'd like to be aware of. I have friends who've made up their minds to never be in a long-term committed monogamous relationship. And as long as she's honest with her partners about that up front, that's totally acceptable to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 06:10 PM
2

I agree with her categorization there. You need more info to decide if she is a 'slut' or not aside from 'serially monogamous'. There's not enough information in that phrase alone.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 06:07 PM
3

I mean, it can, but it usually doesn't since we also apply it to animals that don't marry and unmarried humans. mo·nog·a·my məˈnäɡəmē/ noun noun: monogamy the practice or state of being married to one person at a time. the practice or state of having a sexual relationship with only one partner. ZOOLOGY the habit of having only one mate at a time.

I'm kind of a prescriptivist when it comes to definitions. A 'person of color' to me is anyone non-white. They may all be oppressed in some places, they may belong to the oppressing class in others. It's not a good phrase to throw around without other qualifiers, because it doesn't have a strict enough definition. The connotation will vary with context. Just like monogamist.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 06:02 PM
4

No, that requires an adjective: lifetime monogamy. Because monogamy is defined as 'having only one concurrent sexual relationship'
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 06:00 PM

But that's also monogamy in its strictest sense, since it only has the one criteria: having only one sexual relationship at a time.

They're both monogamous. One is long-term, one is short-term. You and I have a relationship right now. It's strangers-over-the-internet-discussing-human-sexuality, and it's so far very-short-term but you can't just redefine relationship to mean what you want it to. monogamy: having sex exclusively with one partner relationship: the way two people are connected to each other serial, short-term, long-term, long-distance, etc are all adjectives that modify those. They're needed because those words …

I'd divide into three: casual sex, monogamy, and polyamory if we're basing it exclusively on number of concurrent partners. And yes, it inaccurately describes human dating behavior because it's only about one facet: number of partners. The short, non-invested relationships are different from long-term committed relationships, but that doesn't mean they're not all 'serially monogamous'. I feel like you think 'serially' has some association with 'serious' when it just means 'in a row.' If someone …
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 05:52 PM

No, they're not identical. Just like how a relationship where the eat tacos exclusively on tuesday is different than one where they eat tacos exclusively on wednesday. But they could all be serially monogamous. Because that's only referring to one very specific aspect of the relationship. edit: deleted an unnecessarily assholish line.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 05:41 PM

Again, that has nothing to do with monogamy in any way, shape, or form. That's like saying that people who eat tacos on wednesday aren't monogamous.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/16 05:34 PM
3

Unless they're actively having another sexual relationship concurrently, it's a monogamous relationship. Whether that relationship is 'friends with benefits' or 'just a fling' or 'serious, committed, long term' is a different label specifying a different part of the relationship.

Then why is a drunk woman not responsible for her sexual decisions? Why is a drunk woman expected to have agency for every decision she makes EXCEPT having sex? Why are men expected to be caretakers for a drunk woman? I don't think this, and most people I know don't either. If she chooses to have sex while drunk, and he is equally as drunk, neither of them have the capacity to consent. If he isn't drunk to the point of impairment, he raped her. Same in the reverse.

No one is arguing that the crime is fully the responsibility of the criminal. I absolutely am. The crime is fully the responsibility of the criminal, 100% of the time. If the owner does not believe he is at all responsible, then he would be inclined to leave the door open again. And he may continue to be burglarized and continue to leave his door open. C6+ I don't consider 'celibate'. C5 is not 'involuntary'. C4 isn't well described. I literally listed several feminist issues above. Here's an article about the paternity leave for instance: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/7762108 And many feminist groups have actively fought for increasing women's options in the military, just recently we won the draft equality.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/16 06:35 PM

Because it was founded when women didn't have property rights or voting rights, they primarily focused on advancing women, yes. But equality feminism is the original and probably the most popular form. And started in the late 1700's. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality_feminism
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/16 02:45 AM
1

I linked the study that concluded 3-7% in another recent comment if you want to look it over. And yeah, the original definition of feminism is advocating for the equality of the sexes. And many, many feminists still identify with that definition. We're not all 2nd or 3rd wavers.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/16 11:48 PM
1

But the first four wouldn't benefit women at all. While I disagree, especially about the equal paternity leave, so what if they don't? I consider myself a traditional feminist, whose goal is egalitarianism. If it brings the genders closer to equality, it's a goal. And the last isn't really an issue. The most thorough sturdiest show a gender pay gap of 3-7%. That's not huge, but I know that if I received a 3-7% pay decrease, it'd suck.

Neglecting your emotional needs, since that would definitely preclude a poly relationship, the scheduling actually works out better from the ones I've seen. Your primary is too busy with work, and you won't be able to see him this week? Go out on a date with your boyfriend.

polyamory is not the same as a harem though. A harem implies one man with several women. Polyamory implies that it's open from both sides of the relationship. She may have many boyfriends, he may have a few girlfriends.

Yes, an article called "the feminist case for paternity leave", where a feminist author explains why more paternity leave is a feminist cause, doesn't "say feminists are fighting for paternity leave". Notice how much like women, feminism will never involve women taking responsibility or giving anything up. Ever. Well, for one, feminists were against maternity leave in general when it was first proposed since it would have made them unequal in the workforce. For two, in the dozens of girls I've dated, I wouldn't describe any of them as unwilling to take responsibility or give anything up. You're dating the wrong type of girl.

You cannot know who donated the organ. That's not true. When I donated bone marrow, both the recipient and I were both asked if we wanted the other to have our info. If either said no, we'd both get a letter saying "one or both of you said no, so neither of you got the info".

Instead of just throwing around a cliche, why not include something that helps your point like this article, which took one search for 'how feminism helps men' or this article from time about the feminist fight for paternity leave.

Feminists are fighting for paternity leave to be equal to maternity leave, fyi.

Feminists are fighting for paternity leave to be equal to maternity leave, fyi. I think there's a little too much money and push for 'girls in STEM', but I do see that they're trying to make up for years of 'no, no, math and science are boy majors' engrained in the culture.

Playing devil's advocate here, they may require "one parent to consent" to most of those situations, but since the paternity test is a case where a man is kinda for the father, he can't be a neutral representative for the child, so the other parent has to consent.

I think everyone who identifies as 'feminist' so far has disagreed with this policy, so I believe that person may be the exception, not the rule. Why can't we ever embrace the issues that red and blue agree on instead of trying to force the other side to be on the opposite of every dilemma?

That's just using 'equal' to mean 'equal outcomes' and not 'equal opportunity' though, so it says the same thing I did.

There really isn't one. Equality doesn't mean equal outcomes. It means equal chance to have those outcomes with the same work.

I consider myself an 'old school feminist'- as in, the point is actual equality between genders. I don't think it's ok to force a paternity test on a man if he's unwilling, without a court order. I do think it should be easy to access a paternity test since it's totally not invasive. I see no reason a court would ever have to be involved.

to me "don't put the pussy on a pedastal." and "don't objectify women" Always came across as two sides of the same coin. I call myself purple because a lot of RP ideologies come across this way to me: I think we should, as a society, stop slut-shaming and become more (safely) sex positive. This will likely result in more women approaching men, and more (mutually accepted) sexual liaisons with less emotional risk and effort from both genders. But there's extremes to both sides: RPs who think that…

I agree with /u/BluePiller1776. To be blunt, from how I've heard it used, pan means you don't care about plumbing or identification. I'm also with the other user where I wouldn't really care what they had when they were born, but I'm not aroused by penises, so they'd have to be post op m2f for me.

I'm not a shrink by any means, but my first instinct is that this guy's seen/been abused to fear women that badly. I dated my fair share of dramaqueens/rageaholics in my time, but this list of expectations is the farthest extreme of all the negative qualities any of them had. You'd have to be an idiot to marry someone who treated you like this. Regardless, no I haven't experienced any of that in my 5 years of marriage. Countering a few issues I see: A wedding is not for the bride, anyone who thi…

Well yeah. It was founded before women had the right to vote so of course it started with concentrating on women's rights. The end goal has always been equality though.

Feminism, by definition is about equality. Issues like non-equal divorce settlements, child custody agreements, etc are actually an issue many feminists do fight for.

Answer 3 is the most honest without boring me. In my partners the only answer I care about is "here's my clean STD panel". I don't really care about a partner count. I care more to know if she knows what she wants/is doing and her experience/comfort level. Though I happened to be my wife's first kiss and everything else.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying it wasn't a feminist goal. It is a goal of most feminists I know, but they're not the tumblr everything-is-rape kind that seems to have lost sight of what you posted.

There are some feminists who would really benefit from reading this. A lot of the new wave has lost sight of the goals of feminism, and it's part of the reason a lot of people refuse to identify as a feminist anymore. For instance, i think that custody and restitution after divorce is woefully outdated and is still based on "men work, women homemake" and should be a real goal for feminists to fix.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/16 09:55 PM

There were plenty of self identified feminists in my fraternity. They weren't just this crazy new-wave feminist type you're talking about. Saying "all feminists operate this way" is just as wrong as "all frat boys are rapists".

Feminists refer to this as being 'sex positive'. More common terms 'slut, whore, etc' are seen as "demeaning", so they're rejected. But they're basically the same in practice.

I think unattractive people would end up finding each other more often. As more attractive women approach the more attractive men, sheer supply and demand would kick in and suddenly the middle-of-the-road attractiveness is the most attractive in the room. So on and so forth.

This is one of the few things I think most RPs and BPs agree on. It'd be easier (and thus better) for both genders.

I think the 'anti drunk sex' thing is blown up on reddit. In real life, even the more hippie/bluepill types back up the idea that drunk is fine, so long as they're both kinda equally drunk, and so long as neither of them are slurring-words-couldn't-walk kind of out of it.
