| 1 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?I'm also in tech at similar position as you. But I've worked mostly in startups with small teams. If I didn't feel I could offer mentorship to everyone on our team I'd not be happy with my job. That said I agree with the after-hours and holiday party stuff. I definitely avoid those situations bc they can lead to trouble for everyone. I haven't had the experience of jr employees hitting on senior level with one exception where one employee did end up getting with the owner of the company. That pl… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 05:11 PM |
| 1 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?If you read my other comments this is exactly where I stand as well. You and I are in agreement here. I do think it's reasonable to avoid blurring work and social lines between genders, especially if alcohol is involved. I think the stance of you can never interact with a woman at work without witnesses, even in the office during the working hours for a purely working context situation is paranoid. I never said don't take precautions like you just listed, I said take reasonable precautions. A lo… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 02:42 PM |
| 1 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?In the same context? If a woman said she never did 1:1 meetings in the office during work hours with men for fear of assault yeah I'd tell her she's paranoid. If she says she doesn't do 1:1 after-hours with male coworkers or she doesn't party or drink with coworkers for that same concern I'd say that's a reasonable action. My whole point and I've articulated pretty clearly multiple times here is that the whole never talk to a coworker of another gender without witnesses is paranoia not reasonabl… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 02:32 PM |
| 1 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?Yeah I can actually agree that I understand how you see that part. I happen to disagree with it though. I guess my line is if I'm in an office setting and I have a meeting with a female coworker I'm not looking around to see who's witnessing bc doing so would be interrupting the work for both parties. My line is more don't do those 1:1's outside the work setting or away from work. Don't party with coworkers, I keep that for men and women though but yeah especially women. I think in this case we … | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 02:55 AM |
| -4 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?All I can say is you all live in sad, scary worlds of mostly your own making. I'm not interested in joining any of you in that paranoia. But to each their own, cut yourselves off from opportunities to mentor half of your coworkers, and build meaningful professional relationships too. No skin off my back. I mean look at the handle you picked for yourself here. Doesn't sound like you're in a very good place. | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 02:36 AM |
| -19 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?Then you should never leave your house with that logic. The whole premise that it could happen to you when you've done absolutely everything right and we should all fear that outcome to the point that we treat all coworkers of a certain gender differently is exactly a huge part of the problem. If you're choosing to deprive mentorship to women, opportunity to engage with you professionally to women all because of a fear that that one crazy person will cross your path then you're not being very pr… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 02:26 AM |
| -33 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?Because I find much of the movement to be a woe is me attitude. 'All this bad stuff happens to be outside of my control and all I can do is shake in fear of female coworkers and complain to other men that I'm persecuted horribly' sobsob. I'm not saying false accusations don't occur to good men but if you're not toeing the line of inappropriateness as a standard operating procedure the false accusation stuff is highly unlikely to impact you negatively beyond the hassle of having to deal with it u… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/22 02:16 AM |
| -99 | Anybody else here scared by how widespread the "believe all women" thought process is?Yo you must give off some seriously inappropriate vibes at work bro if you feel you can't have 1:1 interactions with colleagues of the other gender. I've been in the corp world for decades and I not only have plenty of 1:1 interactions with men and women on my teams but I've had the opportunity to mentor and manage team members of both genders multiple times. Never have I felt I'd get accused of anything inappropriate bc I don't even toe the line of anything inappropriate. And I've maintained su… | /r/MensRights | 12/04/22 11:01 PM |
