I could definitely see it interesting to explore where men and women agree and differ in what they find attractive in other women. Still though, I've never agreed with what everyone else calls "conventionally attractive". Whatever that prime textbook look is like you said, I can't stand. Genuinely does nothing for me. Can't tell you how many arguments over it I've had. Guy friends have always thought I was crazy that whatever "hot celebrity" of the time was I didn't like. I don't mind "the boys"…

Y'ain't wrong. I just think miscommunication is the biggest cause of most issues we have and debate about.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/24 08:06 PM
2

In your defense, I think the problem is those men who say they find anything attractive, don't even realize they're lying to themselves, and don't recognize their own subjective bias. They might genuinely believe all other men think the same as them.

Ain't BS brother. Like I said, I don't think she's ugly, but that's just not my type. I'd happily pass on her and let y'all shoot your shot.

I think OP's post is directly questioning the validity of men saying "To me", that they are lying about their subjective opinion on appearance because it doesn't match what they consider "objective"

I personally don't find Madison Beer attractive at all. But I can acknowledge she's not ugly, and I get why someone else might think the complete opposite, but she just doesn't have the face or the look of what I'm into. I think men are just quick to push their own subjective preferences without objectively considering a person's appearance. I don't doubt many do it to put women down, but I think a lot of men have more specific tastes than they realize.

I think some people revel in the self-torture. In the same way people can find comfort in physical self-harm, I've known people who will mentally and emotionally destroy themselves, and go out of their way to do it. For them, there's a sick sense of familiarity and safety to it.

Then perhaps I have such an ego I would just see anyone like that as beneath me anyway. I simply reject anyone holding a worldview where you perceive yourself as somehow inferior or lesser. Perspective is everything. I'm perfectly content letting people self-select themselves from me ever needing to waste my time on them. Real people worth anything aren't like that, that's what my experience tells me.

Bitch behavior to call women evil like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/24 04:33 PM

I saw those links after I looked through the first post. 🤷‍♂️ All I can do is speak from my own life experience. After elementary school, when kids are just stupid kids, I've never had any problems being short. Never had any problems dating. I stand on, the real delusion is thinking so few women would "respect" or "want" a short guy. Because if anyone, man or woman, only sees you as "short" guy, and not just "guy", they're not worth the time for anyone of any height. It's evidence of a shitty pe…

Want is meaningful in a relationship, saying, I'm choosing to have this, I'd be fine without it, but I'd rather have it. Need is toxic in a relationship, saying, I require this because I can't fill this hole myself, I can't function without it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/24 03:58 PM
2

Anyone, man or woman, who judges cuz of it, is a bitch themselves. Toxic traits go hand in hand with thinking height matters. Not worth dating if they actually care, already says everything I need to know about their personality.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/24 03:53 PM

That sub is a cesspool of self-hatred. I'm calling out every other short guy. You've got two options, cry about it for the rest of your life and whine and complain like a bitch because it'll never change, or grow up and realize it's that pathetic attitude that's unattractive not your height.

we are all slaves to our genes after all. No. I'm not gonna rant about my definition of love, it's something subjective to everyone they have to experience and define for themselves. But I will not accept any conversation that we are slaves to our biology. Animals are slaves to their biology. The beauty of being human is our concious ability to choose and decide for ourselves what we do in any moment, with our lives and actions. You have a choice to be a slave. It's on you if you live as one. It…

In that case I agree with you. I think we're on the same page. I would consider that open manipulation too, I would draw a distinction between wanting to understand why a person is reacting a certain way to explicitly determing how to respond to that reaction. The "equation" of mental function and deliberate action I was doing was more of saying, the better intellectually understand another person's experience, the better I genuinely feel their pain, and know why I should or shouldn't do certain…

<3 Something I wish more people understood was that it might suck in the short run to put in that effort, but it's well worth it later. It's been rocky but I'm working on it, Hope the same to you too friend!
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/24 12:08 AM
2

Okay, then I go back to, is empathy itself manipulation? If you know and understand why someone is feeling a certain way, and know why and how you should comfort them, what should you do? Do nothing? Or comfort them? You might be well aware that there are benefits to the relationship, friendship or otherwise, you have with that person should you comfort them. But you'd also be aware of how much you might unwantingly hurt them if you don't. What should you do? How can you avoid "manipulation" by …

Fair enough, I would probably be concerned with most people who vocally say they're into psychoanalyzing too, as hypocritical as it might sound I still disagree about understanding though. Actively considering new experiences and second hand experiences people tell you is invaluable to better being able to empathize with the experiences of someone else.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 11:33 PM
2

I agree many things can be used for both good and evil depending on the intentions of those who wield them, without defining what either of those is. However, I have to disagree that empathy is passive. Empathy is by definition, "the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another" I don't blame you if you live your life avoiding people who are overly aware of why others do things, it does make it easier …

Is empathy itself manipulation then? Anyone who understands why they're doing it is by default risky? Or can only a person who does it without thinking be trusted?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 09:48 PM
3

I hear you, that makes sense. It's definitely hard to tell someones intentions, because I think the two behaviors are so similar outwardly. I do get what she means though, I've seen some awful people go out of their way to use that information maliciously.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 09:33 PM
3

Feeling a little called out on that second one since I just said something similar in another thread. How do you separate the difference between someone genuinely trying to empathize by understanding where other people are coming from, and doing it explicitly to manipulate them?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 09:03 PM
11

I like figuring out why things are the way they are. Even more so, I like seeing the difference between why I think something is the way it is and what someone else thinks is the way it is. So, in general, literally anything they might have an opinion on. When I meet people, I like getting to know them to piece together based on their life experiences why they became the person they did, and hold the views they do, and pursue the things they like. I do a lot of art and design, and so it's always…

If you sampled 700 women from denmark who are 6' tall, you'd get wildly different results than 700 women from china who are 5' tall. The reliability of the sample pool is more important, and we have no information on the bias of the people being surveyed. I'd be more inclined to believe a study on the 4 billion women is diverse enough to cover all of them with a larger sample size.

I don't acknowledge I'm an outlier. I genuinely believe the portion of women who do care about height that much are a minority. I genuinely believe there's a strong positive correlation between caring about height and other negative toxic personality traits, that make a woman who cares that much un-dateable for a man of any height anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 05:24 PM

Bruh the only point I'm trying to make is find the study that proves that and then I'll argue about it. I'm 5' 4", I think I know what it's like to be a short guy. In my life, I haven't had any issues, so my bias is that "most" isn't the case. I'm still taller than a lot of women. Maybe it's just "taller", and only "some" want exceptionally tall. Until I see multiple, solid pieces of research to contrary, I'm gonna continue my life going off what I've experienced.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 04:58 PM
1

You got another study to back up that claim?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 04:46 PM
2

Assumption that there is a positive correlation between caring about height and desire for muscles. She's saying it would make sense that women who don't care about height, equally don't care about muscles, because the traits those attributes give off aren't what they're looking for.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 04:43 PM

You don't know that. You presented a study to back up an opinion. The study is flawed, and therefore the opinion can't be substantiated. If you want to do another study to try to prove it again, you have to do good quality research.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 04:34 PM
1

I've been getting downvoted for saying paying attention to sampling pools and study size research is important lmao.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 04:12 PM

If you polled 700 women who run track and field, what their type is, you'd probably get men that look like runners. If you polled 700 women who like art and writing, you'd probably get men that don't work out much. If you polled 700 women who live in the country, you'd probably get built men who look like farmers. We know nothing about the people in the study, where they were from, or who they are. Yes, with more women the results would change.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 03:59 PM

That's about the size of one high school. That's an extremely limited population, it's very easy to pull from a biased group and get results the complete opposite of what you'd get one group over at that scale.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/06/24 03:50 PM

across four studies (N = 659 heterosexual women) Wouldn't call that a comprehensive study. Anecdotally, the number one compliment I get is on my shoulders and back.

You never see the life a person lived to get to where they are when you first meet them. You have no idea who they used to be, and they have no idea who you used to be either. You have to ask yourself, "Am I the kind of person anyone would want to date." Whatever qualities you look for in a partner that make you say "I'd date them", you have to look at yourself from their perspective and say "Would they want to date me?" If you have no redeeming qualities, you either do what it takes to get them…

Women are far and away the largest consumers of romantic novels, romantic comedies. Fiction is fiction. Miss me with taking advice from fantasies not the real world. Women are more in tune with our emotions in general. In tune with women's emotions. Men complain about women not understanding their feelings all the time. Women complain about men not understanding theirs. You only know your own perspective. Women are typically more socially adept in general. Adept with other women. Men's only envi…

Red Pill/Black Pill ideology made perfect sense once I realized it was all about reducing yourself to an animal, and believing everyone else already is one. For all their "studies" on "instincts" and "social games" and "natural desires", everything boils down to assuming that other people don't actually think. That somehow mastering the cheat codes of biology will be your keys to success. It's an ideology for people that can't understand other people exist. They can't put themselves in another h…

No one needs to fulfill these desires. They want to. ☝️ If only more people understood that. The great thing about being human is we have agency, we have the ability to choose and conciously decide whether we act on our desires or not, unlike animals who go from one to the next without a thought. Everything is a choice, but some people want to offload the personal responsibility of being in charge of their actions saying, "it's natural so I can't do anything about it." Some are all too eager to …

/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/24 01:35 AM

Bruh. The only credit I'll give you, is that's a thoroughly logical thought process to get to a clown fest of an answer. To use your line of thinking about human nature, let's use, "Expend as little energy, least risk, to get the greatest reward". By that token it is logical to put "all your money in one stock", because humans aren't fucking stocks. What is the biggest complaint both men and women have in dating? Finding someone worth dating. Therefore, the "cost", is in how much time, effort, a…

I'd consider myself white pilled if anything. The solution, is accept and view women as the exact same species that men are. We're all human. There are not nearly as many differences between us as red pill ideology wants to pretend exists.

Instead of pushing for women to lower their standards, our fellow men should... accept that being alone is a normal condition in life I agree one hundred percent with this. The problem isn't women's standards, it's men's lack of self-respect and standards for themselves. They're so caught up in thinking they need a partner, that they need sex, that they can't stand being alone with their own thoughts. Connection with another human being is great, being in love is great, but being alive is also g…

Because if you view your partner in such a way that you're "settling" you view them as beneath you. If you view your partner like that, you shouldn't be in a relationship with them. That's toxic behavior. You should view them as your equal, not above, not below, but the same as you.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/24 09:14 PM

i'm on your side. I'm just saying I think both men and women, though more men, out of desperation for any kind of connection, are willing to take something less than what they want. It's only out of projecting their own insecurity for what they're doing, which is not having the "balls" to be confident and happy alone, that they think they're superior.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/24 08:42 PM
11

In general I'd say no one is really "happy" settling, people just do because they'd rather have anything than be alone, which is it's own problem.

Men and women pursue a high body count for the same reason: Insecurity and Validation. To be able to have something, and not need it or go for it, is called self-control. High body count is a marker of a lack of self control because of insecurity pushing that person to need the validation that they are worth wanting. It's not even a libido or desire for sex problem. Who has more sex, a person with 3 partners, who had sex with them 100 times each, or a person with 30 partners, only once or twice …

Okay. Next time I'll be more specific that I mean, people are confused when I tell them I don't use any platform to explicitly share and broadcast me and my personal life. The definition of social media is not was I was here to make any points about, just the nature of the behavior.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/24 12:53 PM

I draw a distinction between putting my thoughts publicly and me as a person publicly. People might know plenty about me, but they still won't know who I am. That's why I see it not as social media, though it's just as bad for what I called out on the others, if not worse.

On this I can at least concede, I am autistic. For me it really is just like flipping a switch when I'm in a relationship that I just don't care about anyone else. That being said, using your example, the only reason he'd look elsewhere while in one, is because he had to settle for what he considered, less than satisfactory. It should, but a lot of people who aren't having success are jaded and resentful. To know that someone else accomplished something that they couldn't and didn't, with the same set of tools they did, is a blow to the pride. It should be hopeful that they don't need anything else, I just think too many people would take it the wrong way and think worse of themselves, leading them to ignoring it or calling it fake.

I think most people wouldn't let their ego get hurt to believe someone "on their level" was being more successful than them. It's easier for many to think it's because of unattainable things that's their problem, so they don't have to look in the mirror and recognize they are the ones holding themselves back, and they have to actually put effort in to changing. Agreed tho.

I'm responding to the claim hobbies is useless advice for dating. Hobbies are an essential part of what makes a person interesting and says a lot about them and their character and what they're like. Whether or not a person succeeds in dating at all, is a whole lot of other factors on top of that, like being attractive like you said, personality compatibility, and values and principles and other things. Nah, you're just wrong. The common problem men seem to have, is wanting to be attractive to every possible woman, and what are the cheat codes to accomplishing that. That's not the point, you gotta know what kind of woman you even want to be with and attract. Different hobbies attract different women. If your hobby is painting, you're gonna attract art women and that type. Not all women are gonna be into that. If your hobby is woodcarving, you're gonna attract outdoorsy camping type women. More …

I don't disagree with anything you said there. My issue thus far is the claim that men naturally desire to cheat and will do it if possible. If the claim was just "men want to have sex and a lot of it" I'd be more inclined to agree. The problem with the claim of cheating is it requires an established "contract" of agreement with another person, and deliberately breaking it. Yeah I've had people get mad at me for not wanting to hang out or get to know new people. Sorry not sorry, but the list of people I want to bother to keep track of is small. I only have so much time and energy to give to begin with, can't waste any of it.

Nah I'm actually all for men, or anyone, leaving a relationship that doesn't have physical intimacy. I think it's equally important to emotional in a relationship. I agree it's hardly easy once other responsibilities pile on, I don't have a solution for it, other than being particularly careful of who you decide to enter a committed relationship with.

It baffles me and is pretty concerning how much people will do things for people they don't know nor care about. Similar to celebrity worship, like, I can't understand it, it feels like they actually think that person is "above them" and has to give their time to them. I've got maybe 10 people max in my circle, if you're not one of them, I don't care about your life, and why should you get to know anything about mine. People I meet that don't agree or get it set off warning alarms in my head.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/24 02:03 PM

Yeah agreed. I used to hate calling, because I was anxious and it felt more comfortable to text. Realized later how much better it is to actually hear a person's voice and talk about anything. Texting is such an un-personal and dehumanizing way of communicating.

I look at it like, if I cared about a person enough to want to know how their life is going, i'd call them. If they don't care about me enough to want to call me themselves, show their pictures from their life, why should I care about paying attention to everything they do? Have yet to get a honest rationale for how broadcasting your life publicly isn't a social game.

Red pill men regard cheating as "Chad" because they, ironically, are "low value males" to use their own words. It is only through insecurity, the fear that one is unable to get another partner whenever they want, that a person would put value in cheating. They have never been wanted that bad, because they are worthless, so they envy that attention. Red pillers that believe that have done their best to convince people it's natural because it's in a morally corrupt person's best interest to get pe…

The question you need to ask to other women instead is, "How to find a man who won't cheat" This defeatest attitude that all men will cheat, is sad to have and profoundly untrue. Sure, a lot do, and they're weak, shit men. In the same way men are wrong when they say "all women are whores", saying "all men are cheaters" is a generalization that will only make you grow more resentful and blind to reality. The way I could see it that isn't directly women always defending women, is that they are defending themselves using the other woman as a proxy. What I mean is, they might not actually care, but because that woman is getting called out for something she does or would do, she is obligated to proactively defend it for fear of getting called out on it herself.

Fine then, I stand on my mental health argument, but that's a cause not the issue to me, which is the disrespect. It's about experiencing pleasure. Sure. Sex is about pleasure. If the physical act stays the same, the only thing that changes is the "label" of being in a committed relationship. Why do people enter into a committed relationships? It's a mutual agreement of love, trust, and respect between two people. It's almost always expected to be exclusive, that two people agree to no one else …

I use mental illness as a generic term for all kinds of mental instability. Be it trauma, depression, bad experiences, or genuine diagnosis of say bipolar, autism, borderline, adhd etc.. These things lead to behaviors that a person normally wouldn't make if they were of sound mind. It's pathetic because it's an interaction built out of disrespect. If a woman just wanted to have sex in front of a bunch of guys, I would think it's weird, but whatever. But doing it to someone she decided to enter a…

Morally inferior, not morally wrong. I openly judge and look down on people who do it. You still have a right to do it, and I have a right to think it's pathetic. Only a mentally ill man can accept his partner getting fucked and watching it. Only a mentally ill woman would think it's fine to do that in front of him. Get some self respect, and treat your partner with respect. Get therapy.

morally inferior for some reason? Yes. Being a cuck is a fun kink where you get to watch your spouse receive pleasure from another person No. There is nothing wrong with that! Mental illness. 24

This ain't the first time, so again, who cares if they admit it? If we all know and agree men are more desperate for sex, and that's why women can afford to pick and choose who they want, what does it change if they say out loud "Yeah, you guys are so desperate for sex we don't have to think as much" Nothing changes, except you have it more shoved in your face. Nothing changes, except you'll convince yourself you're justified in being angry at them, and blame them for your own problems.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 07:29 PM

Knowing how to speak isn't the same as understanding how other people think. I'd say what holds a lot of people back is not knowing what to say to people, and that it does matter what you say, even if it sounds "good". That requires having a general idea of how other people's brains work. You can't figure that out if you only have yours to practice with. You can't learn how people think from a book. You need observation and interaction with real human beings.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 07:12 PM
3

I'd argue that's the same thing. To me practice implies improvement, if decades of experiences have gotten you nowhere, I wouldn't call it that. Your interpretation of those past experiences are going to be filtered through the lens of those restrictions, what you remember will only be what you felt and thought at the time. You have to go out and make new ones actively trying to change, to notice the things you didn't before, and intentionally make mistakes you were too afraid of then.

Yeah I hear you, I think that's why a lot of people want an "easy" answer like just get fit bro, just get money bro. It takes a lot to willingly push yourself outside your comfort zone for the sake of personal growth. Like you I put myself in a lot of uncomfortable positions and made an ass of myself all the time. It was only because I was more frustrated with being stupid around people that I got over that social anxiety hurdle.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/24 06:01 PM

To play the other side, because I agree fully with you, I would say the main problem is that there is no way to "work on yourself" to figure out social skills. You can go to the gym and get fit, your success is entirely dependent on the effort and work you put in. However, as you said relationships are fundamentally a social thing, and therefore require at least one other person to "practice." That's a very emotionally and mentally taxing process, the trial and error of figuring out those things…

Sixteen percent of adults first had sex before the age of 15, while 15% of adults abstained from sex until age 21 or older. Unrelated to the topic, this statistic from the first link stands out to me. The first part, has some really dubious implications. I doubt all those circumstances of under 15 are with other under 15 year olds. The second part, means all these discussions that happen about "late bloomers" make up only 15% of people that have had sex.

Healthy, mature communication is something a lot of people are afraid to do at best, and incapable of at worst. Ignorance is bliss to a lot of people. Genuinely though, the whole point of OP's post is that the ideal is a balance of both "feminine traits" and "masculine traits", however you wanna define those. What some guys don't understand is it's exactly that, a profound gesture of trust in another person. All I hear when they say "never cry" "never be vulnerable" is people too afraid to trust anyone. The whole point is that yes, it can hurt being emotionally vulnerable. It's so profound because if you can truly trust them to not take advantage of it and hurt you, it's another kind of bond that is like nothing else.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:13 PM

I'm routinely baffled by some of their comments. For people who claim to want to be with women so bad, they genuinely don't like them. I guess the answer is they only see sex but I must be too turbo autistic to really get it.

They're so focused on being hyper-masculine and not being "weak" that they'll refuse to believe what you're saying. People can get mad all they want, but you can tell a person's level of confidence and respect for themselves by what they expect from others around them. Low self esteem leads people to tolerating much worse and toxic behavior because they think anything is better than nothing. I have been "that guy she tells you not to worry about" more than once. For as much as I dislike the way a lot of red pillers talk, they are right sometimes. Loyalty only goes so far as a perceived better option. If you figure out how to be better than what she has, it's painfully easy. There was a meme that goes something like "If shes single, you're competing with a thousand dudes. If shes taken, you're competing with one" Its true. On the other hand, being a short autistic man, I proved to my…

Emotional maturity and stability is like, one of the only other things outside of physical intimacy that anyone gets in a relationship for. Why would anyone intentionally do that to themselves. You're trying to sell women on the idea of potential, that they should suffer in the short term, because once they get through it they'll be worth having around. Nah, women don't owe that to men.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/06/24 01:00 AM

My brain is hurting trying to wrap my head around this braindead way of thinking. It's like saying women are wrong for not wanting to get in a house that's on fire. Like what? Fix your shit first man, she's not a firefighter, not her job to put it out.

I think you hit on exactly what it is. One of the factors of the male loneliness epidemic is women not dating down emotionally. If OP isn't trolling, he's literally saying women are bad because they're responsible for men's problems, and women are bad for not fixing men's problems. Can't win either way because all they want is to blame anyone but themselves.

The survival of the most adaptable is an interesting way of putting it that I think is right too now that I think about it. Looking at a lot of different species and our own, some traits persist that we can easily say are not direct evolutionary advantages, or even detriments. I'd say they persists because as long as the thing has enough other traits to survive to reproduce, in this case, is adaptable enough, then it doesn't matter. It would explain why a lot of mutations occur and last, as long…

Sure that's fair, it's argued that humans were historically shorter because physical prowess outside of endurance wasn't necessary for hunting other creatures. Tools did the work, not fists. I think nature vs nurture questions are fascinating. Deleted that last paragraph initially cuz I wasn't sure if it really added to my commentary but I think there's a lot of reasons our modern society is dealing with problems we haven't had to in our history. It's too short a time frame for our nature to have changed, so changes to our nurture, notabley our early childhood develeopment, are the likely culprit. Our civilizations operated about the same for a long, long time, but the past 100 year…

This is a completely baseless theory, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm going to assume a lot of things about evolution and biology. One being that one of the major priorities of the male of a species like us is to be physically capable of hunting other creatures, and defending against other creatues. To that end, hormones like testosterone and other biological factors develop the body of the male to acheive that goal. These changes also alter the way the brain functions, to be more efficient…

As contentious a topic as it is, body count is probably the only real tangible way to determine "SMV". I'd say there is "actual body count", the number of people a person has been with, and "rejected body count", the number of opportunities at sex you personally turn down. I include the second one because knowing how many people want to sleep with you is a valid indicator, even if you personally don't engage with it. As a group of anonymous commenters this is unfortunately a futile effort. Take it from the autistic guy, that life ain't all about numbers and ratings. Prior to the 1900s, and even well into the beginning of it, the idea of a divorce was something well fought against, with the support of most religious institutions. Even if you weren't "devout" or cared about the institution, getting a divorce was incredibly difficult, and if you were a woman wanting one near impossible. Having a choice is always preferable to having no choice. Too many choices is not the question here. Sure, it might be difficult to choose which man out of the options to marry, but choosing to marry at all, is a choice women didn't have.

I see what you're saying. I agree in regards to the context of dating as a whole, too many options can be difficult. The specific context of OP's post, however, is about whether women are happier now when they can choose to be married as opposed to ye-olden time when they didn't. That's not a problem of too many options of men to get married to, it's a question of are they happier if they can. In that sense, the freedom to choose is good here. Sure finding the guy to get married to will be daunt…

Third study I linked speaks on that, of too many choices being detrimental. When I speak of "Freedom to choose" I mean the freedom to have any choice. I will stand on the belief that it is a fact you will always be happier having a choice over no choice. Diminishing returns from number of choices does not erode that core concept at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/24 03:35 PM

supposedly they did not have a choice I mean OP unironically said this. Your example shows how ridiculous this is. Feels like some men want the equivalent of a slave as a partner, I guess it shouldn't be surprising then that they get mad and complain when women choose to stay the hell away from them. And are happier for it too.

Yeah I hear you, I think a lot of people want to avoid talking about it altogether, either saying porn is 100% good with no problems, or its 100% evil, and avoid communicating with the other side, when it's a really complicated problem of human emotions and mental wellbeing.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/24 09:05 PM

I'd agree that it's not entirely direct. My original comment has more of the essence of what I believe, that it's a slippery slope of excuses that can make consuming more and more porn more comfortable and convenient than ever trying to improve. First of all, I wasn't the one who brought prostitutes into it. your partner is choosing porn over having sex with you This is the key point you made, that I have problem with, which your statistics support. If about 70% of men are watching porn, and about 70% of adult males are married, then a lot of men are watching porn, when they could be having sex with their partner. If you are choosing porn over having sex with a partner ready and willing to have sex with you, you have issues.

If you're single and going out to meet someone and you're jerking off to porn here and there that's fair. It's when you would rather get off to porn, instead of having sex with someone ready and willing to have sex with you, that's a problem.

For sake of a simple argument, a guy has two options if he's horny after a day at work/school whatever. Go home and watch porn, or go out and try to meet someone. Going home to porn can guarantee immediate pleasure and reward. It's worse because it directly warps your perception of women worse than porn will. When it takes less effort and energy, mentally and physically, to just get off to porn instead of going out into the real world to meet someone, porn is the problem. There does seem to be a misunderstanding of what vulnerability means. There is a confidence to being unafraid of admitting if something is bothering you, or troubles you. It's sad because it feels as though many men have been burnt to the point they don't believe women that will stick around even exist anymore. Nothing really to do to convince them the real ones are out there. And yeah, putting on a mask is recipe for disaster that is the complete opposite of being comfortable with your partner. You gotta be able to be you, in whatever shape or form that means, around them.

It's not a problem of "have to", it's a matter of being comfortable enough with anyone to want to. I get that it isn't easy, damn near impossible at times to trust someone that much, but finding someone to want to be vulnerable around and trust them to do so, is incredibly valuable.

I'd get it if you don't want to be vulnerable to anyone, but drawing a line with just women is ignoring the fact they are human just like us, with the same fears, anxieties, hopes and dreams.

Agree wholeheartedly. I'd be tempted to say it's a desperation thing, that some guys will tolerate bullshit because they want anything. I've fucked around enough to know it's just not worth it, it's better to pass on ten opportunities than suffer through the bad first one.

Why do you need a woman for this shit anyway? I feel like none of you have male friends, and are putting all this stuff that should be in a male friendship onto women. When my partner is my best friend, I want to be around her over any other guy friend. Life is sweet when you can trust anyone enough to be vulnerable, and when they're also the person you love? Nah, that's golden.

Sure, you make yourself "weak", because that's the point. Being vulnerable is how you show trust to another person, that you trust them to see your weakness and not take advantage of it.

The saving time thing is huge. When I hear guys say never be vulnerable to a woman it's just sad. Don't waste time being with someone that isn't mature and respects you as a human being to listen to that stuff.

I'd agree plenty of guys can get away with just being attractive to get a woman on the hook for a short time thing, but that's not enough to keep them around long term. When I say would you date you, I mean consider genuinely spending a lot of time with someone like yourself. Not just for sex or a once in a while kind of thing, but actually imagine having to deal with you on a daily basis. It's a question of personality.

Hey man maybe you're right. Maybe I, the 24 year old 5' 4" autistic biological dead end should just jump off a bridge because I can't change things I can't control. Shit, you probably do work out harder, are a harder worker, are funnier, cooler, and better at holding conversation. Take the words of a stranger online with a grain of salt, but I've done pretty good for myself so far. Guess you're losing to a pathetic loser like me huh.

When I was younger I had a rough time with people. As a coping strategy I forced myself into situations I hated and made me uncomfortable so I could learn how to never let myself get put in those places again. With dating I've made a fool of myself more times than I count, played stupid games, done stupid things, been hurt by people I cared about, and hurt them in return. I had to learn the very hard way how to have a proper relationship. The most important thing I've learned is that nothing is …

Y'aint wrong, I'll admit. All I can say is, all we can do is improve ourselves for the diamond in the rough that might come our way some day. I'd rather put in that effort carving a statue out of myself, then that day to come and I'm not something anyone would want.

Life isn’t fair. The whole thing is a fight. So fight. I respect and agree with that statement. Too many people are too content to sit around doing nothing, and then complain when life doesn't move mountains to give them everything they want. You have to ask yourself, "Would you date you?" And honestly, critically ask it of yourself. A lot of guys would never tolerate a person like themself, yet expect women to. If you want something of meaning in life you have to earn it. You don't deserve anyt…

There's something in the water around here that's for sure. I respect this sub as an idea, that people will actually just say some crazy takes and fight about them, but that makes a pretty toxic place for more sensitive topics.

I appreciate you taking the time to write this up. To the first two points, I definitely understand how there's a trade off between a pairing of two autistic people vs one NT and one ND. Two autistic people together might be able to communicate and understand each other's problems, but also be prone to explosive arguments and tension. Whereas like you said, the balance of having a neurotypical partner would provide much needed stability for either side. To the fourth, I have some open ended thou…

Y'ain't wrong, as a kid it definitely wasn't fun. Thing is though, people are stupid about so many things that I write off and ignore them for anyway, so what if height is another one of them. I don't wanna know em anyway if they're like that. Hell, it does the hard work for me, if only 5 out of 100 women are left that don't care about my height, those other 95 weren't worth it anyway. It says a lot about their personality. Makes my life easier.

Yeah I think we're on the same page. I definitely agree in the dating world men justifiably venting frustrations are maliciously called entitled, when they're more expressing frustrations with dating as a whole. It does feel like "entitlement" is used to shut down the conversation to avoid adressing why so many men are feeling this way.

Eh, if I listened to statistics, then I as a short autistic guy should be doomed. Take my anecdotal experiences with a grain of salt, but I've done pretty well for myself. I don't think reality is as bad as people think.

I stand by what I said. No human deserves anything. I define entitlement and deserving as, expecting things to go the way you want, without putting in the effort to make it happen. Humans have the choice to use the tools within their reach to make the life they want, but nature doesn't dictate they have the right to succeed at it, only make the attempt. You aren't entitled to wealth, fame, material succes, you aren't deserving of anything, just because you were born. If, like you said, you want …

I agree it's usually pretty easy to tell when you've met another autistic person, but that's only a portion of all autistic people. Every case is different, and it never manifests the same, even if there are some commonalities. Sure, I can only speak on my experience. In that experience, I have met people that can mask and outwardly seem non-autistic very well. It's these people that, because they don't fit the most common "stereotype" of autistic, they get ostracised. That because they don't st…

You have to see women as objects, things that don't think or feel, to actually believe that. Would you tolerate someone being "selfish" and "ruthless" around and to you? If you wanna take an extreme sure, you might be able to get away with one or two hookups being a "morally bad" person. I don't consider that a success, if you have to constantly chase the next hookup because no one wants to stay with you. This might be a shock to you, but women are humans too, and they think and feel just like m…

We made the laws, the laws can be taken away. Humans have existed for far longer without laws, than with them. You as a human being have no entitlement to anything, other than living.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/24 03:58 PM

The difference between the two is in what you can actually guarantee. In an ideal world, sure I agree, everyone should have their basic needs met, but no one can force nature, life, society, to give them those things. entitled; believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment. I would have to disagree, because if you feel entitled when you earned something, you by definition believe you deserved that outcome. You don't. You can be proud of that success, and the wor…

It's a matter of what you have control over in your life, and what you don't. As an analogy, take any sport for example. You want to win right? Well you can only control how much time you spend practicing, understanding the strategy, and how much effort you put in to train. Whether you actually win, isn't up to you, you have no control over fate, over other people's skill, or the circumstances of the event. You breach the line of acting entitled, when you expect to get things out of your control…

Men and Women alike, want to feel wanted, by people they want. People are attracted to people they want to be wanted by. Specifically, people want to feel sexually desirable, by people they find sexually desirable. The whole "good guy" vs "bad boy" thing is missing the point and flies over a lot of heads. The "good guy" thinking he's being respectful, is really showing no signs of want or interest. The "bad boy" very clearly shows he's attracted to the person, and if a woman finds a guy attracti…

This seems to be a recurring problem about autistic people and the autistic community. We are not all the same. You have no right to speak on anyone else's experience. "When you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person" Every single one of us is different. You can not assume any other person's experience is in any way similar to your own. There might be some similarities, but the nature of the disorder manifests in so many different ways. So many autistic people are quick to di…

I'm from the US but I'd agree it's probably better odds over there. Also would agree with the general idea that a slighty autistic average guy will have more opportunities than an average short guy. Just feels like some people think that short guys have literally no opportunities at all, which ain't the case. I've been with a couple women taller than me and fact is it goes both ways, I prefer women shorter than me. Can't get mad and blame women for doing the same thing. I'd say dating and romanc…

It's really not even as big an issue as people make it out to be. It's a joke at this point to say just work on your personality, but no one wants to hear the fact it's the truth instead of blaming anything but themselves. I've been more than happy with my experiences. I seriously doubt I'm unnaturally attractive, so from my own experience being short isn't the death sentence some guys complain it is.

I hear you man, I really do A lot of women are gonna look me over because I'm short. Why would I want to change their mind and try to convince them to give me a chance? In the end, it makes my life easier, because that's a portion of women I don't even have to consider and can move on and focus on those who might want to get to know me anyway. The same goes for being autistic. It might feel constricting that so many options might get filtered away against our control. Instead of 80 out of 100, t…

Regardless of gender, assuming a scenario where one side has a lot of experience, and the other has none, there will need to be a lot of patience involved. That's just the nature of not knowing anything, for any skill. If we look at it as just a cold exchange (which it isn't, but for sake of argument), the side with no experience is inherently benefiting more, since they offer little, but are receiving a lot of knowledge and experience and learning. If you include emotions, things like anxiety, …

I always talk about kinks and what we're both into with a potential partner so I wouldn't be with anyone I'd be concerned about what she might be getting off to. All I'd care about is her saying "I get that you're not in the mood, I'm gonna go get myself off" I'd be mildly annoyed at worst if she didn't mention it. I once had a bad relationship where we had mismatched libidos and nothing is worse for mental health on both sides than trying to make it work when I or she isn't in the mood. Always …

Approaching this with and olive branch of good faith, misplaced though it might be. I would consider myself fully in that category. B. Respect to my first girlfriend who had to put up with my naive, inexperienced ass, and the many problems it caused in that relationship. Having had more experience and bad times since then, I just don't have the time to "teach" anyone else how to have a relationship. For option A, inexperience says she doesn't know what she wants in a relationship, and it's a rocky road to figure that shit out, it's complicated. I will not do the thinking for two people in a relationship. I want an equal, who…

Nah. If you fall for multiple people at the same time you have unaddressed issues. It ain't "normal" in the definition of "standard; usual, typical, or expected" but it ain't weird either. It happens all the time, but if it happens take it as a sign you have to work on yourself. Can only speak for myself, I've never felt anything for people other than my partner at any time. My main disagreement is calling it "normal", in the definition of "standard; usual, typical, or expected" No, I don't believe it's expected or usual, but I don't think it's uncommon or that it's weird if it does happen. I've never felt anything for anyone but the person I'm with. Call me a liar. My big call out is, if you actually get strong feelings for multiple people, you have unaddressed issues and are immature. It is an undeniable fact that there is a different dynamic when young boys are to themselves, compared to when there are girls their age around. I was a former scout, earned my eagle, and always say the time I spent as one shaped a lot of who I am today. Boys need boy space. 12-18 year old boys are hormonal, wild, near-animals at times. They need their own space to get that out of their system. The same goes for adolescent girls, I have an older sister, and her stories of being a girl that age are not fun. This is the most volatile period of life for young people, and they need space to themselves. No one I know enjoys remembering middle…
