Before you start getting all butt hurt because the focus is on black men, Dillard is a historically black college (hbcu) so naturally gender issues tackled by this institution will not be able to shed race as a focal point because the overwhelming majority of the students there are black. He was just trying to highlight positive attention shifting towards men in any capacity at all.

These comments are pretty disappointing to me considering how much the mra community strives for discourse and awareness. Telling a person in a committed relationship that, one that I assume, is serious to dump someone he cares about just because she said something insensitive is terrible advice. The whole point in all of this is to make people aware of the misinformed, unjust views of men and masculinity. Running away from an opportunity to do just that makes no sense to me.

Anyone could come up with counters to all of the items of that list and come up with a long list of female privileges as well, where does that leave us exactly? Did it justify manipulating the law to benefit one gender over the other to pick up the perceived slack? I sure don't see the draft on that list as a privilege.

Not really because as you stated, people are blind to their own privileges, but people aren't blind to stereotypes about themselves and do not feel privileged to have"positive"stereotypes about them, especially when they don't measure up to them. You still didn't state any male privileges, I'm excited to have the proverbial veil lifted from my eyes.

Sorry... You lost me when you compared racial issues to gender issues. It is not the same and it angers me when people try to group all of it under the same umbrella. You can easily compartmentalize gender and race when talking about racism because men and women were treated poorly because of their race but in ways specific to their gender. It just frustrates me that the chick in the dumb ass hat came afterwards and selectively heard that Edwina said that the most important thing a woman could ever do was have a kid when that's not what she said at all. Just goes to show that some of these women are only able to see things through a particular lens, and anything that deviates from their ideology gets ignored.

There was a similar study done with disparate health issues among upper class Black Women in comparison with middle and upper class white women. It would make sense, to me, that racism relates to stress, and stress does all kinds of negative stuff to ones health.
