The point is you can't fully understand how someone else experiences social interactions. One social experience could be positive for one person and negative for another, or vice versa. And while you may long to have lots of friends someone else might just want one. Talking to a stranger over the phone is not a very comfortable situation. Its hard to cold call a girl to ask her out on a date.
