It will actually raise her feeling of self worth. She will look at what you have become and think "I dumped him so I must be better than that". I'd have to agree with /u/halafax. Something too pointed is going to cross arms and furrow brows. However, I also worry that something as subtle as the example he gives would pass by too many people OR it would guilt the men into being more "active" in their home lives.

I don't see a way to get there either. I see more potential in a meeting in the middle by a "war of attrition" essentially. Somewhere in the future, eventually, both sides will hopefully meet in the middle. It's truly disconcerting that I can still recognize the fallacy in my own thoughts, still to this day by thinking that the morally right path, is not the path that will get both sides to where they need to be.

I completely agree man. That's always the way it's been and it touches on that in the documentary. The problem with Florida is that you have to have both parties be aware and consent of recordings otherwise its inadmissible. If that wasn't necessary, I'm sure this entire process would be a lot fucking smoother. Source: recorded my ex-wife saying she was going to kill herself. Judge only allowed it as evidence after he heard the portion where she acknowledged she was being recorded.

It all comes out in the Mandatory Disclosure documents. You have to go line by line and list all bills and expenses and furnish bank statements (at least in Florida, you do). Furthermore, even if you didn't volunteer to pay for health insurance, you would have just been sending her the amount you are paying for said insurance as a child support payment.

the middle of a uncontestrd divorce right now..how would I go about getting my costs calculated since i volunteered to pay for the health insurance evem though it takes a big chunk out of my income. The state you live in should have a calculator online that calculates your cost as well as a break-down on how to input your expenses, % of custody, and what you owe the other parent.

Depending on the state and the amount of time from the most recent child support calculation, you should be able to file a new petition to have your child support recalculated. Any increase or decrease of 10% in the payer's salary warrants recalculation in most states.
