Going through it now. My kids don’t really want to interact with the dude, ex has pushed them to. I told my kids that if they feel awkward, tell their mom, if she won’t listen, call me. Don’t know anything about the guy except what my kids have shared- and no, you should not interrogate your kids, that would harm their trust with you- my ex refuses to share any details. Stupid and immature, I know. As others have said, maintain and strengthen your bond with your kids. Let them know that you’re a…

Exercise of any kind/ gym, walking, gardening, cycling, whatever keeps you moving a while, plenty of early to bed and early to rise, minimal alcohol(and in your current emotional state-ZERO). The hardest part is getting out, it by getting out it doesn’t mean to a bar. It means doing an activity. It may be the exercise, it may be something else: museums, cooking classes, volunteering. Anything that gets you around new faces and places. BUT the goal is not to find a partner, it’s to focus on yours…

So you’d be ok with an essentially corrupt coach teaching your child? Think about thst.

Yes. Most Jiu Jitsu and martial arts have a code of character to follow and instill in the practitioners. Many Jiu Jitsu practitioners follow the ancient samurai code (Bushido). The framework highlights three main areas of self-improvement: 7 Virtues of the Spirit: Courage, Honor, Loyalty, Respect, Honesty, Compassion, and Justice. 5 Keys to Health: Focus, Discipline, Initiative, Strategy, and Wisdom. 3 Strengths of the Body: Endurance, Energy, and Willpower.

Yep. OP says nothing, then next thing the affair partner is attending shared events like school functions, and all of his ex’s family functions. Ex wife creates the narrative that OP is the villain and furthermore OP’s inaction and default acceptance of the new guy shows his approval. Fuck that. Let people know the type of people they are so that they can make their own judgement. Almost no one is going who want their spouse/partner to hang out with cheaters. Granted, you shouldn’t care what peo…

Only if you give a fuck about social media and what others think of you.

I don’t know about your certificate and stats being worse for kids. My kids are 100% better after the divorce. No doubts at all. It was difficult the first year, but now in year 3, absolutely. Both are excellent students, have hobbies and extracurriculars, and most importantly have friends. They’ve not isolated themselves. Granted, they both have friends that are also in divorced households, so it must help they have friends they can relate to.

Your fault man. You did something that a couple does, not a divorcee. I helped my kids pick out a pot and plant from Home Depot. They walked out with it today when they spent the day with her when she picked them up. Gesture of good will, but didn’t go out of my way.

O was the only one on the mortgage, but she was on the deed. For that reason it had to be a refi, then a special warranty deed to remove her from the deed.

It’s weird. My mortgage doubled due to the equity payout, I pay all the bills and utilities now. Child support, yet I have more liquid cash left. Things like car insurance reducing, eliminating unnecessary services, streamlining your groceries, reducing the amount of times you eat out, it all really adds up.

Exactly. The concept of “all of them”. The constant dinners, birthdays (non milestones) for every nephew, cousin, uncle, in law. The surprise “visits” that turned in to work: her dad would random plants for instance, the chauffeuring of “all of them”. I dreaded the weekends and realize now I would drink to escape. Now, home gym, cycling, the occasional cigar (in peace) and occasional wine. I do more, sleep less and yet feel younger, lighter, healthier, happier and free.

I have more bills and expenses now, yet more liquid cash. It’s an anomaly I can’t seem to explain.

Yep. No swimming by anyone but me and the kids! Plenty of snorkeling while they got trashed in the beach house. Not to mention the way to complicated meals all week instead of just grilling.

Holy crap! I wasn’t the only one. One of the last big arguments we had before our divorce was a vacation one. We had planned on going, just the 4 of us, but then her sister thought it’d be great to go together. Then her sister’s husband wanted to change the destination in order to use points, then he was set on a hotel for the same points reason. It went from a beachside villa in Tulum, to a standard hotel room on a crowded street across from the beach, in Playa del Carmen. Fuck that. We did the…
