They are found guilty much more often than women, and when they are, they face a harsher punishment. 3) Being dismissed is not being lowered/lessened. Assault by Penetration is, by far and large, seen as "less" than that of Rape, despite the fact they harbour the same sentencing guidelines. There are almost no instances of a Rape charge being lessened, there are however numerous instances of females having their more serious charges (such as AbP) lessened to something like Sexual Assault. No. Look at most cases. Often a woman will have her charged lowered to sexual assault, or face the lower end of punishment for assault by penetration. Two things A) you originally stated that my original post is untrue because women are charged with Rape. You are now stating that it is not in fact Rape but instead is Assault by Penetration. B) you are correct in saying AbP follows the same sentencing guidelines as Rape. However, AbP often holds punishments closer to the minimum, whereas rapists will face a punishment nearer the maximum for Rape, on average. A person can only be Raped in the UK by a man as the act of penetration must be performed with a penis.
