Also, there isn't a person here that share's your opinion on gun carrying. And I'd bet that most of the men among them would have no problem running at night here, whilst most of the women would. There isn't a lot of violent crime here in my city, but I think for women the fear of rape will always be there. You're admitting it's more dangerous at night, and if something bad is going to happen, it's likely to be done by a man (you'll agree to that right?). Since men are usually stronger than women, her fear is legitimate, right?
