I agree with you that the first tragedy is that three children died. But aren't we supposed to ask "why" when that happens? I mean all we have to sort through now is the "why" and the answers to that question quickly and accurately in my mind point to a systemic failure of a mental health system. The woman fucking told people she was afraid she'd hurt her kids.

Among men who have realistic hopes for a partner and their personality can be an issue but that doesn't mean those men are assholes. They may be shy, have interests that isolate them, have family obligations that make dating difficult or made it difficult when they were young and they haven't recovered. I pretty much agree. Not all average people (men and women) settle for a so-so relationship or get lazy and let a good one become so-so, but those who do do so out a kind of laziness. And the beta bucks thing seems like projection. Men who aren't super excited about their partner assuming she feels the same bleh way about him (she may) and then buying into the idea that this was her goal all along.
