I think it’s great that so many people can relate to this song. But how can you say there’s no sexism? The part about women being loved unconditionally is absolutely not true. Maybe some men feel this is true, so in a sense it’s giving weight to that feeling, but we all know women are loved for their beauty/youth/fertility/chastity etc which are all highly conditional. It is so unfair to the female experience to state that we are loved unconditionally as fact. Moreover, the song reinforces that …

How exactly do you define “approach?” If I leave my office to go for a walk or to grab lunch, usually I will get a “hey beautiful,” “give us a smile,” “how you doing?” etc. these people are usually homeless. People also honk at me from cars while I’m walking around the city or roll their windows down to talk to me while I’m on my bike at a stoplight. I can’t think of a time that I’ve been “approached” at a grocery store. Bars, parties, for sure, almost every time, especially if I appear to be al…

Like all “approaches,” context matters. If it’s at a bar or something, I think it’s probably harmless. The times that have really bothered me was when people winked at me at a conference and in an airport Edit: if you are have chemistry/banter with someone it can be a great way to flirt if used sparingly/appropriately! I think that’s why it leaves a bad taste in my mouth coming from strangers. Too intimate

Maybe creepy and off-putting are better words for it than predatory. I just find it threatening. Winking is often associated with secrets. If someone winks at me, chances are that no one else will see the interaction and it makes me feel way more vulnerable than, say, a verbal cat call.

I hate being winked it at. It absolutely is predatory. It’s a way for men to hit on you in crowded places without inviting backlash from others. It makes my blood run cold

Q4M: are you ok with your girlfriend having male friends?

This is such a logical explanation.

Statistics apply to populations not individuals.

Statistically 90% of apples are red. Therefore any given apple must be red. It’s just logic bro. See the problem here?

You can’t apply statistical trends to a specific individual situation.

Thank you! How are you doing, dating-wise? I really appreciate your support!

Idk if it matters at this point bc I’m already dating chad and he is both financially stable and nice to me 😊

The whole idea that women are calling the police or anyone else on men who approach them is so overblown and ridiculous. I, and every other young woman in a decently sized city, get approached multiple times a day. Why tf would I waste my time and energy making a scene every time? If you think that women are reporting random men who hit on them at any meaningful rate you have no idea what it’s like to be a woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/22 08:22 PM

Actually, your theory makes sense to me. I tend to date people who are multiracial, who I find attractive maybe due to the “average ness” of their features?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/21 02:18 AM
2

I definitely have a type- which specifically encompasses people who do not look like me. Wouldn’t it make sense for us to be attracted to our genetic opposites? It’s why I don’t understand why RPers insist that I must be attracted to “Henry Cavill” types - tall, square jaw, blue eyes, runs in my family. Why would I want to date a guy who looks like he could be my brother 🤢

It’s important to examine the language we use, it shapes our perceptions and those of the people around us. Many men are offended by terms like “man spreading,” “male tears,” “toxic masculinity,” and even “feminism” because they find them reductive and counter productive. Are those terms semantics to you?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/21 12:01 AM
2

It’s a gross fucking term and I’m trying to point out how weird it is. Also, women aren’t “used for sex” in consensual encounters, they are willing participants. Do you use women for sex?

The phrase “town bike” implies a relationship between body count and the town population. I’ve never heard anyone use this term out loud. I assume then, that it’s a small town thing? If I meet a random person in the (relatively large) city I live in, I have no clue how many people they’ve slept with because gossip doesn’t reach that far
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/21 10:25 PM

I can’t understand how long hair is seen as a feminine trait. Long hair to me implies virility and a no-fucks-given attitude that are the peak of traditional masculinity. Cutting your hair short is beta as fuck, CMV

You know that most women get hit on multiple times a week or even day, right? So to sleep with “any guy” she’d have a body count in the thousands. By that measure a woman with n=30 is super selective
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/21 10:01 PM

So, totally arbitrary, got it 👍
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/21 09:59 PM

Wtf qualifies someone as a town bike? Does a woman with n=10 in a town of 1000 qualify? If she lives in a city of 100,000 does she have to have n=100?

Not at all. I’ve approached men a few times (directly, not just IOIs) and they’re always receptive. Never been rejected so that probably helps lol

No I don’t think that’s necessarily the case at all! It can be a lot more about where you are (big city vs small town), whether you’re going to social venues, and maybe how approachable you look

I’ve never had to try since I was about 14 (age 27 now). Since then you I’ve pretty much been constantly fielding interest. I’ve never had trouble getting relationships with guys I want to date. Never been “pumped and dumped”. Never been rejected. Never had to use OLD to find a date (although I did use it twice for hookups while traveling in foreign countries bc it’s just easier). I wear stylish clothes and light makeup maybe 30% of the time I leave the house. I don’t shave my armpits. The crazy…

I guess I haven’t seen that one. Regardless, South Park isn’t real life dude. Do you know of any non-cartoon women who have fucked an entire football team?

I find it hard to believe that this is a relatable experience for anyone… has this happened to you?

The way that their philosophy has the potential to extend beyond dating is what scares me the most. Why would someone who believes that ALL women are childish, irrational liars ever hire, promote or mentor a woman? Vote for one? Etc. I can avoid men who employ TRP strategies when dating. On the other hand, if my boss was using TRP philosophy to limit my career development, I wouldn’t even know and I’d be powerless to do anything about it
/r/PurplePillDebate13/12/21 05:48 PM

My favorite trope is that every “high n” woman (like, n>3) has “fucked the whole football team.” Like… what? Do they seriously believe that a reasonable fraction of women are fucking 20 dudes in the same social group? It also goes to show that these guys are still in high school, or stuck in the high school mindset..

OP (and other men), does it make a difference if there are anatomical reasons at play? Say your partner has had and enjoyed anal before you. But your dick is bigger than her previous partners and it would hurt too much. Would that be a problem?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/21 09:29 PM

Hit the nail on the head. I would never ever want my partner to do something that makes him uncomfortable regardless of whether he did it in the past.

This is an excellent analogy

The whole point of my comment was that it’s not my dating (or sexual pair bonding) partners that irk me. It’s friends, coworkers, classmates, people in hobby groups. Dating women or being celibate does absolutely nothing to prevent their advances because I’m still a person in the world with a job and friends and things to do. In fact, in my experience, having a male partner is the best possible shield against male attention (although it’s clearly far from impermeable). Being single, or god forbi…

Sometimes he’ll have a tear roll down his cheek when telling me he cares about me or recalling a traumatic experience. I just hold his face and wipe it away with my thumb or kiss his cheek. I really appreciate the vulnerability and honesty. It’s too bad a lot of men here feel shamed for crying because I think it’s a bonding experience for couples to be vulnerable in front of one another.

Women claim to want “tender, respectful sex?” Lmao what planet do you live on
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/21 03:04 PM

Is this a cultural thing? My partner is Caribbean/Latin and cries pretty often, way more than other men I’ve been with and even way more than I do. More in instances of high emotion than sadness. I think it’s really sweet but I’ve never seen it before
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/21 02:51 PM
1

Why is that on me? I feel like I read here often that men want to fuck all their female friends..
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/21 02:37 PM
1

Yeah, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with developing feelings for someone, or feeling attraction to a friend. That’s totally normal. For me the boundary is crossed when guys vocalize their attraction inappropriately (e.g. while one of us is in a relationship, and/or in a long term platonic friendship)
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/21 02:36 PM
3

That definitely does happen! But I’m not talking about people declaring their feelings to me. I’m referring to guys who I thought were friends hitting on me despite knowing I’m in a relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/21 02:19 PM
5

How would either of those options prevent men from hitting on me?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/21 02:17 PM
11

This has been one the most difficult and ongoing lessons in my life. So many men who I thought I had a platonic respectful relationship with were willing to throw it all away if they thought they had a small chance to fuck. They barely see us as human beings
/r/PurplePillDebate23/11/21 11:10 PM

I do agree to relationships with them lol. The last couple relationships I had started as FWB and turned into serious relationships after they put it on the table and I decided I wanted to go through with something more committed. Both are sweet, smart, tall and gorgeous so it’s not like being in a relationship was their only option for sex. So I disagree that attractive, awesome dudes are “gatekeepers of relationships” - they seek out relationships with people they care about too.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/21 11:31 PM

I’m sure it’s different for different people but my experience has been that men that I’ve been seeing casually push for an LTR even when I insist that I’d rather be casual

I don’t think it’s a bad idea to get to know someone a bit to gauge compatibility before asking them out. I do agree that this is probably going to be a more successful method for less attractive men than tinder or cold approaching. On the other hand, it’s exhausting and somewhat hurtful when something like 80% of men that you trust to be platonic friends end up shooting their shot with you. It’s not that any one individual is doing something wrong, per se, just that the pattern of experience as…

Same! Hair longer than mine (I have shoulder length) is a bare minimum requirement for me. I don’t really notice short haired guys even if they’re technically good looking.

I guess we disagree that it’s “obvious” that attractiveness is normally distributed.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/21 01:01 AM

Like I said, it may well be, but you made a broad generalization about women struggling with the concept of averages when it seems that you yourself don’t understand the difference between mean and median.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/21 12:16 AM

First, it’s possible that OKcupid didn’t have a representative sample, e.g. OKcupid users are less attractive than the male population as a whole. This gets totally glossed over in any conversation about that study. Second, if an average person doesn’t find many people who would say they’re attractive, that makes sense. If they were attractive they wouldn’t be average.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/21 08:58 PM

5 is the median. It’s only the average if attractiveness is distributed on a bell curve. Which it may well be but it’s not a given in a rating system

The fact that men don’t respect women has been clear to me since I was 9 years old. I am a cis woman but I remember trying to dress and act more boyish just to try to get some more respect. Turns out men respect girls who act like boys less than girls who act like girls (and of course, girls who act like girls less than boys who act like boys). Who knew lmao.

I’m pretty forward. I think “dropping hints” puts men in an uncomfortable position and is likely to be a frustrating experience for me as well. If im into a guy I’ll ask him on a date or to have sex. Never really been rejected lol. I date super hot guys. And yes I pay my way and/or theirs.
