Nothing in the commenter’s statement implies that they’d prefer an openly manipulative partner, that’s your own implication because you think the only option besides a partner that’s secretly manipulative is a partner that is openly abusive. Any sane person would understand that the preference is a partner that is not abusive, not a partner that’s abusive in another way. You are pretending to be stupid to build up some sort of weird gotcha, that backfired.

What rules? Perhaps the person who responds to this prefers a non-manipulative partner that is actually nice, have you thought of that? Why do you think the only options are two types of abusive manipulators, do you have trouble thinking outside black and white?

Also, how are so many people missing the fact that this analogy is about rejection…?
