OYS #19 5’9 190 lbs 28% BF (DEXA 4/21/22) 18% BF (Navy 7/29/2022) Lifts Program: GSLP Current Lifts, AMRAP sets: BP: 160x7 SQ: 230x5 OHP: 110X5 DL: 255x5 SB Material Reading: WISNIFG, The Book of Pook, Day Game Working through NMMNG Activities Mental I started journaling about my day, thoughts, and keeping a gratitude list. The “dear diary” stuff that doesn’t belong here in OYS. In addition to SB material I’m reading and listening to some material from a psychiatrist - trying to do the work to a…

I’m just trying to build the habit of asking myself this question and setting aside time to be alone and intentionally wrestle with it. Basic, I know. I’ve been such a supplicating Beta Nice Guy for so long it's taking work t…

I’m not doing what is necessary to cut weight. I’ve been lazy and undisciplined in my approach. I know what needs to be done—I’m just not doing it. I track body weight and waist measurements regularly and have MyFitnessPal set up with macros ready to go. I’m just not doing the disciplined work of eating at the calorie deficit required to unfat myself. I’ve got to plan menus, prep some meals ahead of time, track calories consumed, add in some IF and increase NEAT/conditioning throughout the week.

True. Still fat. No, not doing the homework sets. Not familiar with those. I’m using a GSLP app with a little accessory work— weighted neck, shrugs, lat pulls.

Still making progress and adding weight on every lift. I agree, and didn’t intend to suggest those characteristics of Roark are bad. Maybe poor word choice on my end. That single minded mission driven indifference to the opinions of others is what has been helpful to crack my ingrained BP and nice guy tendencies. But it is true, his character is so different from me and my mind set as a lifetime people pleasure. Yes, I’m such a wuss the contrast in my own life is shocking.

Meh… I’ve been dipping in and out of it while driving. It was recommended here somewhere, along w/ the Virtue of Selfishness as an aide to breaking the “nice guy” tendency of putting yourself last and ignoring one’s own wants/desires, etc. it’s maybe been helpful in exposing me to a different philosophy way outside of my normal range of thinking and acting. But yeah, so far I see Roark as a psycho autist that gives zeros fucks about what others think and pursues his mission with a singleminded d…

I’m great at playing with my young daughters. I tease, tickle, roughhouse, hug and lead fun and new activities for my girls all the time. I have that “game” on lock. BUT I don’t play with my wife like that very often... Do I just need to shift my mindset/actions and treat her similar? Does toddler game translate to wife game?

True, there probably has to be some level of body recomposition happing. My lifts are still going up. I also started TRT within the last two months. I did my baseline DEXA scan a couple weeks ago, with a planned follow up scan in about 6months. In the meantime I’m continuing to weigh-in daily, measure waist size, take regular progress pics and track strength gains to better gauge fat loss.

Blarg - I’m continuing with this “disengaging vs. engaging approach.” However, I’m having a hard time telling if my STFU is coming off as buthurt and/or if it's “working.” It's almost like she is trying to out STFU me! I’m still in a good mood around home and with the kids, lifting, and doing stuff, etc. But my disengagement from the wife just seems to be fueling her own disengagement. It has turned into a weeklong quiet game or acting like roommates that don’t even really like each other. And I…

Weight is my current main focus and biggest red flag. My recent DEXA scan has been a kick in the gut. Just throwing this out there: My goal is to look the best as possible for an early July beach trip. To motivate and hold myself accountable; I’m going to post a physique photo in the last OYS (June 28) before my trip. I appreciate the question. More sex with my wife is the aim. As to the lack of desire…. Not porn— quit that 8 or so years ago. Loss of attraction- yes, certainly in part. I haven’t led her to prime health, fitness or body weight. I’m taking high doses of three depression medications and my testosterone (420) is less than optimal. All could account for some of the low libido. I’m focusing on un-fatting myself, lifting and starting TRT.

More sex, but in truth I aim to be a better man. To lead, love, laugh and live more fully. For far to long I’ve gone it alone and it hasn’t worked. I’ve sunk deep into a self imposed sentence of mediocrity, shame and escapism. I’m feed up with my own excuses and weakness. I’m here to hold myself accountable and to expose my failures and try and get a little better every week.
