the way I used to IMAGINE We were buying into a fantasy. And often it is someone else's idea (the media). enjoy time together, have fun, and build connections This is reality, what's wrong with it? It is still positive and valuable, no? It is still better to have it than not have it, no? The only issue is that you wish reality is as good as fantasy. But nothing real can live up to the fantasies people create for themselves. Real-life doctors, lawyers, cops, soldiers - hardly anything like you se…

So the man will give freely and willingly to the woman, who then gives freely and willingly to her children. (well, some of the time, but better than not at all). Evolution doesn't care whether it comes from a healthy place ('spiritual connection' thing EquanimityForMe said) or unhealthy place (attachment issues, scarcity etc), so long as it works sometimes. Most healthy women do actually get turned off by the unhealthy version. But there are women who do allow the unhealthy version (eg successf…

In my limited experience, I agree. The times when things worked out, it felt like I'm "invited" and I'm supposed to advance. I would sometimes get bad vibes when I even so much as showed a hint of non-sexual interest (eg just looking at a girl for a bit longer than usual because they looked or dressed different). Even regular non-sexual interactions would be resisted. (EDIT: this is the "i have a boyfriend!" response meme). Sometimes when a girl was initially offended this way, but after we had …

Not disagreeing with this at all. But maybe we can translate this to more regular layman terms like: Alpha here - leading one's own life, making and executing plans, having boundaries, not being a pushover. Treating others the way you actually feel about them. Beta here - inviting the group to join in and looking out for them. Maybe being a little more friendly, trusting, and forgiving vs complete strangers. Helping people feel like a valuable member of the group. Imo it's not always at odds. It…

I’m also terrible socially. I have an incredibly angry and masculine resting face and it makes it hard to meet people. Fairly scary looking. In my limited experience, the guys who get the "prettiest girls" tend to be the ones who are best socially. Also they are positive and cheerful most of the time. Your strong jawline brought to mind someone like John Cena. He's social and cheerful, ie someone you'd like having around. Maybe he could be a role model?

Tilted much? Ask yourself: did you write the above in a fit of anger or in a calm state? I don't care what your reply is going to be. Whether you can be honest with yourself is up to you. Projection - look it up.

Geez these type of posts arise every so often and I wonder what value they really add. Yes don't larp and don't make it your identity. Yes don't just read, go out, take action, get experience. Yes the classics exist and are worth going through first. But did you think the classics just appeared fully formed? There was and still is a lot of groping around in the dark, a lot of trying to make sense of things. Classics arise out of this mess. You don't get to gold without it. It's like saying the s…

I get what you are saying. But, she's mainly the cause of her own problems lol. Emotionally lashing out seldom leads to good outcomes. I have pointed it out and she does see the light, but I can't sort out all her issues. Sometimes just gotta leave people to their own devices, even one's own bio relations.

The key is to start trying to live your own life for yourself. Prioritize what you want over that of others, including your family. "While you fill others cups, you need to fill your own cup too". Allow yourself to be the difficult one while pursing your goals. Allow yourself to be someone others have to deal with and work around. Let other people be responsible for their own lives. You have treated them with respect and you have helped them, it's about time they do the same for you.

One of the biggest lies is the glorification of motherhood and that all mothers love their children unconditionally. Assuming my mom is rational and looks out for my interests was a mistake. It only led to a very wrong mental model of the world, a lot of unnecessary suffering, wasted effort, and wasted opportunities. Maybe a good thing about feminism is letting women who don't desire kids be honest about it. Hopefully evolution kicks in, and within a few generations the babies that do get born a…

I disagree with the above commenter about the introduction. The material before the loser behaviour is gold too. I have witnessed "character" (what I call the things you talked about) as the number 1 most important determinant of success.

Wow, thanks for this valuable post! It captures a lot of what i've observed in the process of un-loser/beta-fying myself. The reasons behind the loser behaviours are spot on too. This is a great guide to identifying problematic behaviours and stamping them out. Re humor: I've been fortunate to be in the presence of top-tier men, and they are very good at lightening the mood, often using humor at the right times. Loser-humor seems to be when humor is used at the wrong time, or when it is excessiv…

What you addressed: Have internal self-worth, not depend on external validation. Have boundaries. One thing "assholes" do that you did not mention: Willing and able to dominate others if necessary. Whether in competition (beat the other guy) or in cooperation (this is the way, follow it).

Probably just normal human behaviour. It is a struggle for anyone to go down from a higher standard of living. In this case applied to what a female usually expects from her man. The closest male experience might be a loss of position, status, ability or income.

Relax. It's normal to regress. This happens with every skill. When we are stressed/anxious/fearful, we tend to drop one level. What has worked for me is 1) practice a lot 2) trust in your practice 3) get used to such situations by putting yourself in them (get on stage, perform etc). Sometimes, the pressure is just in your mind. 1) The pretty girl in front of you is still just a girl, and still just a human. She struggles with the same performance issues too. Just treat her like any other person…

How do I become comfortable with this experience of constantly putting in huge amounts of effort and failing despite it. Know that everyone goes through this in some form or another. What I've heard repeatedly is "if you try, you will get somewhere. if you don't try, you definitely won't get anywhere". Review your approach. What works is also what is sustainable, it should not require "huge amounts of effort". Try something else. There are some things in life where direct effort backfires, inste…

No. There is a difference between healthy narcissism and NPD. NPD is not at all what it is cracked up to be. Go look at the NPD subreddit. As a recovered NPD I can tell you this: The drive provided by NPD is strong, no doubt. But what happens when things don't go your way? What happens when things are beyond your control? Your whole world breaks down that's what. Days of insane productivity interspersed with days of nothing. And when that gets too much? See "narcissistic collapse". Like a drug a…

Thanks Woujo for articulating an ideal to strive towards. The following is not criticism, just things I struggle with: Re #5: There are going to be problems that are beyond our capacity. We ARE going to feel anxiety / fear. I believe it is useful to feel these negative emotions, but we need to try to keep a calm head and focus on action (and thus not show much emotion). Stop trying to guess and fit what you think girls would specifically want. Yes, you should do things that improve your general attractiveness: eg building some muscle, looking good, building a career, doing hobbies, being sociable, all while having some fun etc But individual girls will like or dislike you for reasons beyond observation or understanding. Shit can be random. When you think there are specific "correct" ways of being, and you compare yourself to that, you're going to breed insecuri…

I agree with the others: you can practice and improve in willpower / discipline. You also need a long-term goal you believe in, and are making progress towards. I call these periods "benders" (like drug benders etc). I've found it's mainly from being too focused/restricted for too long. Everyone needs some time off to let loose and just "be". So, just schedule in some let loose time before it explodes in your face. Same with emotions and the need to vent. Also, sometimes taking a long-break from…

I re-read your article and thought about it for a while. I would call what you are describing "pride". Be proud of yourself for putting in the effort to your goals. Be proud for knowing you might be rejected and going ahead anyway. Thanks for the reminder. I still believe that there needs to be a fundamental self-worth that is unassailable. Pride is then built on top of it.

Any self-esteem that depends on something will be unstable. The solution is to get self-esteem to be independent. they didn't live through trauma that made them self conscious about their own self value. This is the key. You have to address why you question your own worthiness.

Growing up, many of my peers went from sucking at one thing to sucking at another thing. They were "lazy", wanted to slack off, and wanted to have fun. They were always fine with it. They never got down. How does your theory explain how they could keep confidence despite slacking and sucking? And (back then) how was my confidence fragile despite working hard and doing well at tasks? It is possible to feel bad about poor effort and results without a knock on self-esteem.

I've had the void / emptiness feeling arise for a significant portion of my life. I'll share some things that helped me personally, maybe one or more could help you. In my experience it is a multi-faceted beast, the following are not necessarily linked: Chasing meaning or avoiding the void... is like chasing happiness. It flies away if you look or question too hard. Do things, pursue goals etc, and you may notice the void is no longer there. Meaning is a feeling like any other. IMO, feelings are…

I get you. Exercise sticks because it makes you feel good, but maybe 6x a week was too much - diminishing returns? Looks like the habits haven't led to any clear results and so your elephant self is no longer willing to waste time with them. Don't drop your filter completely. Test the waters and gauge people's reactions. Especially with things like religion, politics etc. Watch talk shows. Good role models. I liked Craig Ferguson, he's also a great flirt. Graham Norton is fun and liberal, but gay so a different vibe. Get more life experience. Do more things, pursue your interests. What sort of habits, and how long? I'd try to figure out why they blew up. Or accept that things have changed and maybe it's for the better. My experiences: 1. Was it a change in your external conditions? Eg new job or place, which disrupts your old routine. 2. I was forcing these habits onto myself. I came across variations of this post over and over again when I was younger. I never really believed it. It just seemed too faith-based. This might also be known as "internal vs external validation". Issues arise when one seeks external validation to make up for internal validation. External validation: the rush you get from wins and from the praise of others. May feel good for a while, but is not consistent or reliable, because nobody can win at everything all the time. Also leaves one susceptible to be manipulated by others (people dangle validation carrot). Relates to self-confidence: the ability to perform tasks or achieve ce…

Those shitting on OP seem to be older and regretful. Please don't project your own issues onto OP. You are in a different phase of life from him. Also, do realize that OP is asking because he does care about the relationship he has with his parents. When I first started Redpill, the alpha/beta dichotomy seemed to be accurate. Then I started meeting guys who were both more alpha AND more beta (according to parts of this definition). As I tackled the causes of my "nice guy syndrome" (mostly poor boundaries and dependency), I also became more alpha AND beta. The more I started to care of myself (lead myself, pursue my desires, enforce boundaries, manage my emotions, focus on problems etc), the more I was able to work with and/or take care of o…

Isn't that what many people do? You can criticize religions using that very same argument. Out of the mess of crazy ideas and explanations, there is some truth to be found. Instead of calling someone delusional, why don't you contribute a counter point of view? If you have a simpler and clearer and more down-to-earth POV, can you tell us? That way we can all learn. And not need to read through Woujo's 1000 word essays to get at an insight.

You are right that what Woujo is saying is not science. He can also sound quite extreme. What he is doing is speculating on evolutionary psychology. I hope that everyone realizes that so they don't take it blindly as scientific truth. Still, many things that aren't conclusively "true" remain USEFUL. How do you think we got science in the first place? It is in the nature of man to speculate and weave ideas into an explanation. Only then can someone do the experiment to test the explanation and ve…

Thank you so much for your essays Woujo. I realized something today and what you said jives with my own experience. Here's what I observed in myself. When I'm not pursuing my goals properly (no good direction, no clearly defined problem or plan etc), it is difficult to engage and enter the flow state. This makes me susceptible to distractions like entertainment, social media, music, porn and gaming. I even feel lethargic and have to nap more. But when I know what I'm doing, these things aren't e…

Are you actually talking about leadership. If you replace "dominance" with "leadership" most of it still reads fine. On a re-read you did change to use the word "leadership" later on. Is there a difference between dominance and leadership? To me the word dominance implies a certain forcing - which is fine if done lightly / occasionally and eventually leads to a good outcome. Also dominance has a less positive meaning. Maybe there is a worthwhile distinction to explore? Anyway thank you for your …

Try the pomodoro method. I force myself to do 5 minutes. (Most people say 15min but that's too long for monkey brain). I don't have to continue if I don't feel like it. But most of the time I do feel like it and continue. It gets easier the next time as well. Another thing I found helpful is to not punish myself for not achieving, but just to do more and more each time.

I think it's better to see it as "not one's fault but one's responsibility". If someone else caused the problem, you can and should definitely blame them, and hold them accountable if you can.

Meditate. Return to the memory of the emotional trauma. Feel it again, this time as an adult. Let the anger and sadness happen. Resolve the feelings you have towards the people - tell them off, understand them, scream at the unfairness of the heavens etc. Once the emotions have been vented, analyze and work towards a better future. At least that's how I did it.

I felt similar. Negativity is really bad. With the help of TRP and other resources, I worked to fight that negative aspect of him and my mom. As my mind and behaviour change, my parents change as well. I'm probably fortunate because dad does desire improvement. Mom then comes along. I.e. it may be possible that when you become stronger they will follow you. Suggestions: 1) Find male role models: an "uncle" or a coach. Decide on what you want and start working at it. Face obstacles, solve them. Or fail, and learn. Learn how the world really works. https://xkcd.com/896/ It will come with time.
