If you did you’d see that replacing jail with mandatory treatment for offenders is what they’re doing in Portugal, whom I keep mentioning, has chosen. There is no choosing not to go to treatment, you replace jail with treatment, which is less expensive if not comparable. Jail in the US is like 30k a year. Why are you bringing up the death penalty? 1	How would you run your country? Part of the problem is seeing punishment and jail as exclusive, when there’s a wide array of ways to change somebody’s behavior. Jail doesn’t rehabilitate anyone.
