Correct approach: "Hey baby, can I buy you a burger?"

I dare anyone to say they would turn down a one-night stand with her. Ugh, I might. I'm not a fan of ribs, and those teeth freak me out. To say nothing of her personality...

Gotta start somewhere.

You can't do pickup without confidence. Working out is a good way to break yourself out of a shitty mood and keep yourself confident.

That was my approach when I first signed up for the site. Went nowhere. There's no good reason not to be proactive.

That's not necessarily true. Sometimes it is awkward, but sometimes you hit it off right away, even when there hasn't been much messaging beforehand.

It's "just sex".

It's more than likely that when she says "nice guy", she means that he's a nice person, not necessarily that he puts the pussy on a pedestal. I mean, maybe he does, but just keep in mind that not everyone uses the same terminology that we do.

Maybe he is emotionally engaging, just not to the degree that he's a sufficient replacement for therapy. We really don't know.

I'm already committed to trying. Why?

You're making a value judgment. Nobody has the right to impose their values on someone else. So are you. That's a value judgement. You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you. That really depends on what kind of values and impositions we're talking about. When someone convinces me that part of my value system is incorrect, or stops me from doing something that I would regret later, I'm grateful for it. I might have been annoyed with them initially, but that's okay.

"Don't be a desperate loser" is not a conservative idea about sexuality.

Don't bother with flowers. Just say, "hey, I brought you something", and unzip.

True, but does not follow from what you linked to. We don't know that her boyfriend is a "nice guy", only that he's apparently not a douche bag. Her issues with her abusive ex are something that she has to work through herself, not something for the boyfriend to solve.

Both yes and no. Very situational. I guess that's basically how I feel about it. I was going to go for it last night, but later decided she was more drunk than I initially thought. We exchanged numbers and she texted me today, so it looks like I didn't kill the attraction by not going for it.

Looks like my question was already answered in this thread.

DLV yourself a bit, but not too much. You want to show that you're attainable to her, but still a prize.

Keep yourself interesting. Keep improving yourself and trying new things. Bring her along for the ride.

I'll second this. I enjoy TPUA's field reports and wish him well, but I wouldn't want him moderating.

We've got both types around here. Comes with the territory. We call them "lifers" and "gamers", respectively.

I guess I don't know until I escalate, though that's really the case with any girl. It's not like I really have anything to lose if she is trying to manipulate me. I'm not rearranging my schedule for her, I'm not ceasing to pursue other girls, and I'm not going to fall for her. At most she'll get another session or two out of me before I lose interest entirely.
/r/seduction23/08/10 08:04 PM

Seconding this. You'll definitely get less anxious and have more fun the more you keep at it. Make sure to take pride in your small successes as well.

Some of it's applicable. Dealing with approach anxiety, confidence being sexy, good venues to meet people, etc.

Neck and ears are great, but the contours of her comfort zone are a mystery to me, so I didn't go for it. Will try next time I meet her. She was okay with me kissing the back of her neck and up and down her back, so I guess the neck and ears would be the next logical step.

But we are no longer together because of their insanity. Seriously? Please tell me that you're exaggerating. Are you going to let some insane exgf run your life? Are you going to make decisions based on what's best for her, or what's best for you? Because that's why you dumped her, it was the best thing for you. From my perspective, this is about having standards. Those standards may be inconvenient at times, but they benefit me in the long run. They help to maintain the esteem that my peers hav…

And as for that "empathy and common decency towards other human beings" stuff, that is for Nice Guys. ... I'm still trying to help her. Well, that's nice of you.
/r/seduction21/08/10 08:47 AM

It won't do your ex any good, but why would you give a damn? A basic sense of empathy and common decency towards other human beings? I guess in your case it's more tit-for-tat, but in the general case where your ex doesn't hold some kind of crazy power over you, you shouldn't be causing unnecessary pain.

There is a "don't date your friends' exes" rule. I tend to assume there's a corollary "don't date your ex's friends" rule. My previous girlfriend hooked up with one of my close friends (and roommate at the time) not long after we broke up. I am one of the least jealous people that I know, but that situation really fucked me up for a long time. I don't think your ex is overreacting at all. It's also a low-value thing to do. You should be able to pick up women from outside your social circle. Hook…

Some women do buck the trend. The two relationships I've been in so far have been with women that approached me. Don't worry about the cultural norm too much.

When people finger their buttholes over calling shotgun first... I'm usually just like, "if you really wanted the front seat THAT bad, you can just have it" In high school I started calling "back right", just to ridicule the shotgun game.

Ah, I thought you meant email transcripts. This is good to have too, though.
/r/seduction19/08/10 09:27 PM

I wouldn't mind seeing transcripts. My conversations on OkC lately (I said i was going to give up on it, apparently I lied) have tended to start off well, but then immediately drop when I throw out the "what's your schedule like next week?" question (based on this advice). It worked the first time I tried it, but then failed the next few.

I have a related question: where would one find nerdy girls? They're my favorite kind, but the only girls I tend to see in typical nerd hangouts are there with their boyfriends. Renaissance fairs are the best venue I could think of, but I haven't been to one recently to try it out. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Does anyone here use that one? Results? I'm reading the comments there and I think I just might try it sometime.

Sounds about right. I guess I was reading it as "don't do anything except DHV/neg/AMOG/etc. while you're in the attract phase", which sounded really awkward to me.

From your m3 model link, about the C1 step: Newbie note: If you came here for Ladder Theory, you IWs will recognize that "nice guys" tend to want to start HERE, rather than at A1, and that's how they wind up on the Friends Ladder. I'm a little confused about what that means. Don't converse in the attract phase?

Although with a little bit of a stretch, most of the comments here could be categorized as either reasons for or discussions on the LTR strategy of not committing exclusively and/or not marrying. That's fair, but I just think the whole thread could do with a lot less whine. I'll fully admit that I tend to agree with feminist critiques of society, and I want equality for everyone, so stuff like "we need a more patriarchal society" and "women need to be shamed more" just makes me cringe. This stuf…

I thought seddit was supposed to be about self-improvement, getting dates, and getting laid, not for random misogynist whining. The lot of you should take it to /r/MensRights.

How do you handle this? Seems bad to keep firing out offers of dates, but also seems bad to ask them when they are free. This is something that I would very much like to know.

I've pretty much exhausted the supply of girls that I find remotely interesting on there. I think I'm going to just focus on girls that I meet in-person for now. Should be easier for me to remain nonchalant if their interests and personality are unknown to start with, rather than being on display in advance. Decided to cut this one loose, rather than wait and see if she contacts me. Wednesday afternoon: Me (3:51pm): Gonna have to rescind my offer to get together, sorry. Her (3:54pm): Because? [N…

Oh well. Thanks for the advice. I'm starting to think OkCupid might be a bad idea for me, since it gives me the chance to get too interested in someone before even meeting them. I passed up a few opportunities for in-person number closes because I wasn't really interested enough in those girls, but those are probably the ones I need to be going after.

Decided to stop worrying about it and go for it. This is Tuesday night, 1 day after the text conversation in the original post: Me (2:38am): Just tried the "wandering in graveyard" thing with someone else from OkC. Good with friends, not so good with someone you haven't met before. Her (2:40am): Hahah. I haven't yet met anyone from there but I disabled my account. Too many creeps and there's no point since I kinda met someone already lol. Me (2:46am): You guys all "serious relationship" already?…

http://www.reddit.com/r/seduction/comments/cu0id/how_to_proposition_for_sex/c0v96iv I'll keep that in mind for the future. Do you think I should just go ahead and contact her tomorrow (Wednesday) and ask for a date on Thursday? Or would I be contacting her too frequently if I do that?

Point taken about reply rate. I don't really care for text shorthand, but I'll try to keep it more to the point. Isn't a 30 minute meeting a little short if she lives 45 minutes away? Should I be trying to get her to drive into the city to see me, or does it matter? Maybe something along these lines: "Hey, let's grab some food tomorrow after you're done with work. If you want to drive out here I'll pick the place, otherwise you pick."
