that's super interesting to me. i suppose we all have different comfort levels with different types of communication. perhaps another technique would be to ask the probing questions and let him open up. men will often test boundaries by asking increasingly more sensitive questions, and i have fun with answering them in vague (but not rude or flippant, unless they're crossing a line) ways and pointing the question back to them. when i was younger i would often overexplain or reveal too much about…

i set an early precedent by telling them that i'm not one for texting, and that i only use it for making plans and sending memes. they know if they want to talk to me in between dates they can call me, and i find that the increased vulnerability of a phone call makes it harder for me to get carried away and get too deep too fast. for this to work you need to have some practice in vetting men well without needing lengthy text conversations to do so, but i find that the artificial intimacy too muc…

it sounds like you're already going into it knowing that you'll end up sleeping with him if he makes a move (and he absolutely will). if you don't have the resolve to stick with your boundaries, it's really not a good idea to invite a man into your home. in this case i'd change the date location to somewhere public.

killian princess is my go-to, but some other unexpected ones are perle de coco by & other stories (it's like a more sophisticated version of the sol da janeiro bum bum cream scent), and red from bath and body works (this one is sweeter and more youthful than the aforementioned, but men really love it). the latter two are dirt cheap where perfumes are concerned.
