I've also become very content with the idea of being alone. Which I think it partly healthy, feeling like you have to be in a relationship definitely isn't healthy. For me I've pretty much stopped looking for a relationship and that's let me stop over analyzing men that I meet. I have a lot of trust issues, with good reason. I don't think I'm really saying anything helpful, sorry, but I definitely know how you feel and empathize with you.

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but my sister is about to marry a really really great guy. She and I are close so I know about their relationship more than just being an outside observer. Without going too much into it, he treats her with so much love and respect and I really believe that he would do anything for her. To hear him talk about her when she's not there, see him interact with her, and even to hear about how he acts when they argue, shows me how much he truly loves and cares a…

God damn, she's trying so hard to sound like she's in a happy relationship. The worst part though was how she kept saying 'furfilled' instead of 'fulfilled' lol

I respect your opinion but I disagree. There was actually a study done that showed that people who watch SVU are more able to empathize with victims and are more aware of what counts as rape (such as date rape, coercive rape, etc). I'm sure there are some sick people out there that get off to it, but I mean My Little Pony is known for that too. There will always be disgusting people that take advantage of/ruin things. https://murrow.wsu.edu/why-watching-law-order-svu-can-lead-to-healthier-attitu…

Olivia Benson from Law and Order SVU. She is passionate about advocating for women and victims and always stands up for them even when it's hard. She doesn't take shit from anyone and is very confident and self assured. As female cop she runs into a lot of misogyny and she challenges it and calls it out every time. She doesn't date very much because she loves her job and it takes up a lot of her time, but when she does it's only men who respect her and her career. But she's quick to dump men who…

Exactly. It all just seems so disingenuous to me. Like no one is there because they're actually friends or enjoy each other's company, they're all just there for their own benefit.

This whole things rubs me the wrong way. This dude needs a whole entourage to buy jewelry for himself? And all the other men there, you have nothing better to do with your time than sit in a jewelry store watching someone else shop just because they're famous? Idk, maybe I'm being too judgmental but it seems so clear to me that all these people are only there for an ego boost. The main guy gets it from having the entourage follow him and watch, and the other guys get it just by being 'friends' w…

I've learned how to embroider and I absolutely love it. It's really not hard to start out, I was able to make my family Christmas presents this year! It's easy to create your own patterns from drawings or pictures and it's so rewarding. You can check my post history and see the first piece I ever did, a portrait of RBG I made with my own pattern. If anyone is interested, dmc.com has tons of great free patterns! I highly recommend it, it's a great way to relax and really fun.

It still boggles my mind when I'm reminded that there are still men out there who think that vaginas change after being 'beat up'(🤢). I'm truly blown away that actual adults think that you can use literally every single part of your body every day and they don't change, but vaginas? Yeah, they totally morph when over used 🙄

Honestly some people are literally on the way there. Just google Allyn Walker, the professor who said we need to start calling pedophiles 'minor attracted people' because 'pedophile' is stigmatized and we need to respect that they want to be called 'MAPS'. It's fucking horrendous and sick, I wish it wasn't true but it is.

I fast forwarded and ended up where they say that sex work is just a job choice and women like 'prostituting'....I couldn't watch anymore, the absolute ignorance of these women is absurd. To not understand that women selling their bodies on the street are more than likely there by physical force, or the result of poverty/substance abuse/ mental health issues shows how uninformed they are. I swear, libfems like this think all sex workers are high end escorts with sugar daddys who they aren't made…

Exactly. You can't give equal rights to two groups with different needs. In order to have liberation women need to be recognized as requiring unique protections and our own systematic framework to ensure an equal level of opportunities for success.

I think it is also full dismantling of patriarchy, the end of the systematic oppression, equal pay, maternity leave, abortion rights, female only spaces, an end to porn and prostitution, and so much more. This may be controversial, but also the end of women wanting to/being seen as equal. Males and females will never be equal. Just considering monthly cycles, pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, there is nothing equivalent for males. We have different needs and until they are realized there…

Another great help with safety is the app Covert Alert. You can discreetly notify chosen contacts and send them your real time location with voice activation. It even starts to audio record so you have any proof of the incident if needed. It makes me feel safe for situations that might not be serious enough to call the police but when I want my loved ones to know where I am. Stay safe everyone! And thank you for this post, definitely grabbing a few.

When my ex and I were going through some things I told him to go to therapy because I couldn't be the only person he could talk to. So he started talking to other women because he 'couldn't talk to you[me] about everything '. He decided to go to therapy once I broke up with him, but I spent way too much time being his therapist while we were together. Never again.

I love this but hate that it's necessary. I hate that girl's clothes are like this and the only option if you want durable, comfortable, appropriate clothing is boy's clothes. Growing up, my mom dressed me and my sister in only boy's clothes, for many of the same reasons as the man above. The problem with this though was that my sister and I had a really hard time discovering our own femininity. As an addict in recovery, I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing cool about doing drugs. I also hate when people try to make it their defining personality trait, my life was completely ruined by drugs, you're not impressive for being a stoner or doing too much coke on the weekends. Literally anyone can do drugs, not everyone can't.

I have to say that I couldn't agree more with the text above from the video. This idea that empowerment is just things that you like is so harmful to the whole feminist movement. This is how we get these upper middle class women with all the options and privileges who start an OF and tell the world that sex work is 'empowering'. The idea of 'empowerment' has ruined the movement towards liberation of all women and turned it into an individualistic idea that as long as you feel 'empowered' you're …

Another thing to notice is how does the cat react to him? Cats are different from dogs as they don't tend to love or trust or even be friendly to just anyone. Does the cat stay under the bed all day? Do they run or even try to scratch when he tries to pet them or pick them up? If so, he probably hasn't formed any kind of bond with them, which could be another sign of disinterest or neglect.

I would suggest taking up a simple hobby if you don't have one. I recently picked up embroidery and I love it. It's easy to pick up and put down and you can bring it anywhere. It's great for taking my mind off things.

'That was way more unpleasant then I thought it would be...No wonder you're such a dick'...He really thought every woman who gets bad cramps was just being dramatic. Being alone isn't as scary as it sounds. While ideally I would like to have someone to share my life with, I've found that being alone is very freeing. I get to live my life exactly how I want to, spend time with who I want, enjoy hobbies that are just for me, and don't have to worry about anyone but myself (and my cat (: ). No one is worth putting up with feeling how you're feeling. The fear of being alone shouldn't be cause to sacrifice your wellbeing. This man sounds completely awful, he does…

You're right, some of them probably don't want to improve because that means they're either doing something wrong or could be doing it better. Be careful with this even if you're in a committed relationship with a HVM. My ex was HV until we started going through a rough patch and he 'couldn't talk to [me] about everything' so he started talking to other women, including his ex. I can absolutely relate. I keep telling myself he wasn't bad, just did a bad thing. I miss my best friend, the closeness, the physical touch. It sucks he had to go and ruin something good. I really hate how this is what people think feminism is. the definition of feminism is ' belief in and advocacy of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes expressed especially through organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interest'. People think it's all about hating men and women being better but the literal definition says it's about equality It isn't and has never been about treating women better than men. We just want systematic equality.

Pure by Linda Kay Klein is really really really good. It's all about purity culture and how harmful it is to girls and women. It does go into the whole, you have to be a pure, innocent virgin before marriage. But once you're married, you better be keeping your husband excited in bed! It's a kind of depressing read, but very interesting. I highly recommend it.

When I was in middle school I was homeschooled and part of a Mormon home school group (my family was non religious though). The number of times I was made to cover up and told my clothes were inappropriate was incredibly frustrating. Don't feel disappointed in yourself or gullible. As women, we learn to do whatever we have to go stay safe and a lot of the time that means acting interested or giving men some of our time in order to avoid any possible anger or outburst he could have from being rejected. Saying 'she was raped' makes it her issue, something for her to deal with. The thing is, rape isn't fully just a 'women's issue', it's actually a men's issue. Men do the raping, it's men who need to change, men who need to fix it, men who need to work on it. Rape is something that happens to women, it's not our fault. It really is a men's issue, but men will never see it that way. It's the same old every woman knows a woman who has or has herself been raped, but no man knows/is a rapist. Men wil…

Yes, I agree with you. But I also think that when people find a whole community of others who think like them, whether it's this kind of stuff, religious extremists, even BDSM and violent 'kinks', it makes it more acceptable to them because they know they aren't alone. It's stuff like this that makes me wish the internet didn't exist. Before, this kind of disgusting thought would be kept private and probably hold a decent amount of shame. Now, it is anonymously said for the world to see, making others feel validated for their sick fantasies and telling them that it's actually okay to think like this because see? It's not just you, it's normal because you found other people who think the same so now it's acceptable.

Even though there was no physical cheating and he tried to tell me he was just 'trying to be a good friend' I definitely considered it cheating. This is the case of Betty and Dan Broderick. Such an infuriating case. I won't spoil it for anyone but if you want to read about it it is VERY interesting. Another example of a man taking his wife for granted and acting like financially providing for the family is the only kind of providing that counts/matters. Also a good reminder to always be able to provide for yourself and your family. No matter how much you've done for a man, it is NEVER guaranteed that he will have your back in return.

I hate that it's called a 'disease' like it's something men just happen to develop, not something they literally do to themselves and cause to happen.

Equating forced racial segregation to a women's only space due to safety concerns is so fucking stupid. This feels very offensive to Black Americans (I'm not Black so maybe I'm wrong/this isn't my place to say) to say that making women feel safe is the same as treating one race as less than human.

How do they expect to take care of a body without a funeral home? Maybe I just don't know how that works but I'm pretty sure you can't just move a body around on your own and bury/cremate it?

Human women are the only females who have to get pretty for the males. Male peacocks are the pretty blue ones, male ducks are the pretty green ones, and so many others. The rest of the animal kingdom knows that the male is supposed to work hard to impress and be worthy of a female, human men are just too pathetic and worthless.

I think this is just part of the whole entire beauty/clothing/women's industry that tells us that we need to spend money on these kinds of things. This also happens in every day life. What does a woman do to get ready for a date? Makeup, nails, hair, maybe a wax(all possibly done professionally), a nice outfit, including shoes and jewelry(could be bought especially for the date). A man? He throws on a nice shirt and pants and he's done. He might even shower if you're lucky. And this doesn't even…

This is one of the things that is so unfair about men's labor vs women's labor. Generally speaking, men do things like put up these shelves, fix the plumbing, build a piece of furniture, while women do things like make meals, do laundry, clean the house. The difference is that the product of the man's labor is seen as this huge accomplishment, something that can be enjoyed/used over and over. However, because dinner has to be made every night and laundry has to be done regularly, women's labor i…

I have the same confliction. I am very proud of my last name and it means a lot to me. Not only that, but I am ME, I won't become just my husband's wife, I'm still me. My mom kept her last name, but because of that, she is the only one in the family with her last name, my siblings and I have my dad's. While I don't think I ever want kids, in theory, the idea of my kids having my husband's last name leaving me as the only one with mine also doesn't sit well with me.

This reminds me of a time I was watching something with some friends, including a guy I had known for a small amount of time. A gay couple had a kiss and he had one of those straight man meltdowns about how gross it was. To make it worse, later in the movie there was a lesbian kiss, and his reaction? OmG sOoO hot. Made a point to never see him again.

Kids are at a much much higher risk of abuse when living with a parent's unrelated partner in the house. This article is from 2019 but it says that the risk of abuse is 40 times greater in a home with an unrelated adult. Can you imagine finding yourself in that situation and you had given your new partner legal rights to your children? So heartbreaking to think about. Thank you OP, this post is another good reminder to never stop vetting, especially if you are a mother.

I looked this up and an article said 'seeing Kourtney get so serious with someone so quickly is not easy' for Scott...didn't they break up literally years ago? so he's allowed to go do whatever he wants but throw a fit when Kourtney moves on too? It's like he thinks she's his property, like you said, she's expected to always take him back and protect his little baby feelings from being uncomfortable boo hoo

I always hated shaving, stopping was such a great decision. I was told by a friend that your hair is part of your body, just like your fingers or legs. Cutting it is like cutting off a piece of you, keeping it helps to balance you spiritually and keep yourself whole. Once I stopped shaving I had to agree. I feel so beautiful being natural and I am SO proud of my armpit hair in particular(:

My mom was the same. Never said anything about mine or hers. One day I came home (well after I'd started my period) to 'the period book' on my bed and that was all. Luckily I had an older sister that was able to tell me the basics and buy me tampons but once she left for college I was on my own. It also became a secret. When I bought tampons (always with my own money) I hid them, when I had cramps I acted like I was fine. I am lucky that I was able to get over any shame associated with periods t…

I was never allowed to see his movies growing up because my mom hated him so much (thank you mom!) but I always heard the praise for them. When I got older and went to watch them on my own I couldn't stand the stupid middle school humor and sexism. So gross that so many young people watched his movies and grew up with that as an influence. The perpetuation of LVM doing less than the bare minimum and still ending up with the hot model type speaks to the entitlement of so many men.
