"A life of one's own that still contributes to the homestead." I LOVE that!

I think a good question to ask yourself would be, "If a much older brother was molesting his sister or being inappropriate with her in any way, what signs would there be?" Red flags: her sexual behavior. I have a 5yo daughter and she NEVER behaves the way you described (dancing suggestively, kneeling between his legs). Someone said the sister wouldn't be so happy around her brother if he were abusing her. That's the devastating thing about grooming and conditioning behaviors that abusers often u…

Lurker here but this is very concerning to me. So many red flags. You are right to be concerned. And how ridiculous for people to say it's because you're jealous. If I were you, I would be worried about the 7 year old and I would get out of that relationship immediately. Would you want him behaving this way with your future daughter?

Good reminder to ask for specific help. We have a 6, 5, 3, and 1 year old so I feel like I ask for help a lot... But you're right, a simple request ahead of time is better than expecting him to be a mind reader. (He actually said, "But you didn't ask me to do anything.")

Avoiding explanation was much easier after I explained myself here, haha. Thanks!

"The best way to apologize is not to repeat the behavior..." I love that; thank you.

This... Seriously... Is why I came here to ask this question. Because if I could just fully accept being here in this city, all my irrational thought processes could be redirected into constructive ways to build a life here. I feel like I still have that mental "out" that I'm hoping for. I have been making my support conditional. You're right. Ouch. And it's not like he dragged me here kicking and screaming. I hesitantly agreed. Honestly, I just want to give up because it's so hard. But I have t…

A lot of the time it is hormonal, yes. I just got my regular cycle back and I totally forgot what it is like. Honest, brief vulnerability. You're right, that's what I need. I will work on it. That communicates to him well, and so does silence. Not pouting, but just allowing myself to be sad instead of angry. How do you think the honest vulnerability applies to the big decisions? Until we buy a house here, we do have the flexibility to move back to where my family lives because that's where his c…

Thanks for reminding me how essential this is! We are part of a church with some sweet moms but we're a 30 minute drive away (I'd rather find a church closer but that's another issue...) so I need to put more effort into looking around here. I have acquaintance level social anxiety - none at all with good friends or strangers, but I get overwhelmingly anxious when I'm getting to know new friends. I need to push past it as much as I can! I loved that you said "you need to make your home wherever …

Thanks for responding! My husband does take the kids when he can... They go to the park so I can grocery shop, and sometimes I'll go to target and walk around for an hour or two. Those things are really helpful. You're so right about the conflict thing. I have to stop doing that. I need to just stop talking and leave the room. That always yields a good outcome later. I just need the self control to do it. I love the "bring him your problem" thing too. I've heard of that before but it's such a go…

Thanks for understanding... I am the primary caretaker. It's not about my husband's lack of support at all though. He does a lot with the kids and does do some chores too. It's just that he can't possibly be my entire support system by himself. :)

As the commenter below mentioned, it has gotten really bad lately with the kids having strep throat, stomach bugs, and ear infections, but you're right that I need to be really dedicated to being out whenever I can. I used to be really good at all of these SAHM coping mechanisms. I really do need to find a mom group to join. That's one thing I haven't done yet. My main question was that when all my mom coping mechanisms fail me, because they inevitably will at certain points, how can I keep that…
