I hate the term militarization. Our military has stricter roe’s and much higher physical requirements. I’m all for police looking towards the military on how to function better. Now do the police need apc’s? Most departments probably not

Careful. This is one of those subreddits where you even slightly mention cops may have a better way to go about something and people explode

I disagree. The officer doesn’t immediately go for a takedown. He pushes her towards the bar which causes her to spin around and begin retreating. What I’m saying is at this point the officer should have kept it standing, with her pinned against the bar, in order to not put himself and his partner in a vulnerable position. Taking her down in the method he did does nothing but risk bystanders turning against him and puts himself in a defenseless position

Sorry should’ve clarified more. She turns and steps away in the process of the officer getting up to deal with her. A combination of her and the officer pushing her away

De escalation might have been the wrong term but she is clearly stepping away from the officer with her back turned. You were the one who said there’s “not much” to stop the patrons from attacking the officers. Those higher levels of force are had to utilize when one officer is unconscious and the other is dealing with a minimum of 2-3 people.

Honestly the part about other patrons is one of the reasons I think it would have been better to handle it differently. Taking her down like that irritates other patrons, she was backing off and now the situations been escalated. you’re now on your hands and knees trying to arrest her while your other buddies are dealing with husband/boyfriend. If any patrons decide to defend her you’re seriously up shits creek. One kick and you’re down for the count.

She should absolutely be arrested. Do you think they way the officer took her down would flag anything? To me it seems odd to get that physical with someone no longer fighting you

I mean to me it looks like a bunch of bar regulars taking the side of other bar regulars. She def shouldn’t hit a cop but slamming her for a swat on the backside of the head is a bit excessive man or woman

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
