As a woman it saddens me that I'm raising my sons in a culture in which many women openly devalue them and mock the mere idea that they would have any legitimate issues simply because of their gender.

Yeah, both of my sons are uncircumcised (I'm the mom) and I've heard the argument "aren't you worried that girls won't like it?" Hell no - someone who is judging either of my sons on the basis of how his perfectly normal penis looks doesn't deserve him!!!

That is the stupidest thing I've ever read in my life. My 2-year old gets erections, pretty sure he isn't consenting... How could anyone ever argue that an involuntary physical reaction = consent?

Yeah he is doing well now - we've been together for 12 years, married for 8. Unfortunately he still has to deal with the ex since they have 2 kids together but the kids live primarily with us. She is still batshit crazy and insanely manipulative. She's been arrested several times, for assaulting police officers, an ER nurse, failure to pay child support. But at the end of the day she has no power over him anymore and that's huge. I'd like to see her pay for what she did but I can only hope life …

My husband was emotionally and physically abused by his first wife. When he finally left her she took out a restraining order against himand his parents, alleging abuse (his parents are the most homogenous, inoffensive people I've ever met). It was granted without question. When the police went to his new apartment to serve him with the restraining order they informed him that they were supposed to collect "a large knife" from him. He had left essentially with the clothes on his back. He told th…

Oh man does this ring a bell...I still have the quote from my husband's ex-wife that she posted the day he was awarded primary custody: "Who I'd like to meet: outgoing people....who like to have fun! oh yeah i hate dishonest people! They should all be shot! especially my ex's! Calyx13 and husband.. THIS ONES FOR YOU! And yes I am better than you two. I fight for eight years to get you to pay attention to your kids and now you try to take them from me? You are SICK! When they get older they will …

When my husband and the she-beast divorced they were both ordered to take the classes. He did. She didn't...surprise, surprise there were NO repercussions for her not taking the class!

My husband has primary custody of his two children from his first marriage and has since they were 4 and 7 years old (they're now 12 and 16). His ex-wife is an unstable mentally ill freakshow who couldn't (and didn't) provide a stable home for them. I am always so proud of fathers who do the right thing and try to do the absolute best for their children.

Mom to two boys. I found these books a great place to start: http://www.amazon.com/Its-Boy-Your-Development-Birth/dp/0345493966 http://www.amazon.com/Raising-Cain-Protecting-Emotional-Life/dp/0345434854/ref=pd_sim_b_1/183-9852160-8102614

Half of you have been raised without your fathers, yet only a few of your fathers deserved to be kicked out of your lives; you were raised by the women who kicked your fathers out, and perhaps a string of stepdads and “uncles.” And those women, your mothers, taught you their values by example. Not an auspicious start. Most of the rest of you were raised by fathers who knew damn well that if they displeased your mothers, they too could be kicked out of your lives according to your mothers’ whims.…

What a vile bunch of creatures. My first-born was a son, and I really wanted a daughter because I knew we would only have two kiddos. Nope, I ended up with two crazy little boys that are the absolute loves of my life! I think some amount of "wishing" one way or another is normal and natural. The contemptuous attitudes these women have, however, is anything but!

I don't really know if it's real or not...what I do know is that my husband's ex is an opportunistic douche who will fake whatever she needs to ensure she doesn't have to hold a full time job. So whether fibromyalgia is "real" or not I know for sure that the person I'm talking about doesn't have it.

Most states have exclusions designed to prevent that - this is from my state's RSA: (b) The income of either parent's current spouse shall not be considered as gross income to the parent unless the parent resigns from or refuses employment or is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed, in which case the income of the spouse shall be imputed to the parent to the extent that the parent had earned income in his or her usual employment.

No for your dependents to be eligible for your benefits (say if you become "disabled" as she has) you have to pay into the system. Typically us working folk get an annual (?) summary of what our dependents/spouses would be eligible for from the people at Social Security.

No he should have been, you're right. She told him she was on the pill, he was an 18-year old virgin that was raised Christian and he was naive as hell. Hindsight is 20/20. She has had a long campaign of poisoning the kids against me so I have no real choice but to see them as "not mine". I love them, I support them, I help them every way I can...but I can't undo their mother's influence.

And yeah, he's not a fucking asshole so I suppose that makes a big difference in his approach! ;)

If she agreed to give up any legal standing in the kids lives I would be THRILLED to absolve her of child support. Unfortunately she is a complete wretch of a human being who manipulates the world to get what she wants to the exclusion of everything else. So she is still very present - just not useful or a good parent...

And I do love them and help take care of them but the thought that her responsibility should just be dissolved because I'm on the scene so she can spend her money on booze and smoke and I can work my ass off to support her kids...seems pretty unfair and ill-advised.

So your logic would dictate that anyone who marries a custodial parent would be responsible for financially supporting the children from the previous marriage? Just trying to clarify that I understand that correctly...

He paid her so much more because he works. She works 15 hours a week at a bar and collects disability. She pays the absolute minimum required by law. Because she has worked so few hours in her entire lifetime (33 years) the kids aren't even eligible for Social Security benefits because she has not paid enough into the system.

Umm. Wow, really? No, their biology didn't suddenly transfer to me when I married their dad. I love them and I do in fact, support them (financially a HELLLLLL of a lot more than their biological mother) but to insinuate that it's my legal or financial responsibility seems pretty backwards. You think that their biological mother should not have to pay to help support them at all since their dad got remarried?

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure if you understand what I mean. The mother (not me, my husband's ex-wife) is ordered to pay $60 per month (not week) for two kids. This month, out of the blue my husband received $35. It is a big deal to us because we just don't have much money. We go without a lot of luxuries and even necessities (haven't bought myself new clothes in over 2 years) to make sure the kids are well provided for. His ex-wife is a really awful person. I won't go into huge amou…

Some of the comments in this thread illustrate what I consider a disturbing trend in the nature of discusson on /r/MensRights. As of late, I have seen the general comments and posts on this site go from writing about the societal implications we have built up around a culturally negative male image, to containing more and more of the upset, chip-on-the-shoulder complaints that I would expect to find on /r/TwoXChromosomes. Save your outrage for when men lose child custody to unfit mothers. Become…

Meh I'm pissed off about all kinds of things, no worries about that. However as a woman with a husband thats perfectly capable (I'd even say skilled) at taking care of our kids it rankles me that it's still so acceptable to insinuate that men are buffoons when it comes to parenting. Damn it's not like I said I wanted to set the creator of this shirt on fire...

I'm a woman and joined this sub because of the unfair discrimination my husband received (and is still receiving) as a custodial father. It should never be as hard as it is for men to be active, loving and invested parents or for the courts to take them seriously.

Well the court will look at both incomes when they appoint the GAL. My husband had to pay 60%, his ex 40% (because she wasn't working - for a change). I think they work out payment plans. They may also have a court fund available for those to whom a GAL would be a hardship to pay for. But most of the time they appoint (in my state) whether you want them to or not. Here is some info on the GAL system in your state: http://www.legislature.mi.gov/%28S%28ha2e3rjzdatl5gbdgdfpza55%29%29/mileg.aspx?pag…

"Guardian ad Litem" - the party line is that they are appointed for the court to represent the best interests of the child. They interview the kid, the parents, whatever references each parent provides...but they really don't look much deeper than the surface although they will charge the hell out of you for their cursory examination. I know with our case (husband is a custodial dad) two separate GAL's were very lenient of all the BS his ex was pulling and very "mommy friendly".

I don't know about your state but police calls in my state are public record. I would go to her local cop shop and pull call logs of her name, her boyfriend/friends/relatives names (Whomever she has your daughter around) the addresses where she stays/lives and any arrest records. Ten to one there will be multiple hits. All of this is good ammo because it's impartial and factual. ETA: They will likely appoint a GAL. My somewhat limited experience with the GAL is that they are very partial to sidi…

sigh She is discussing the South African culture which openly accepts and in many cases promotes the rape of women and children as young as mere months old. It is not misandry, it is a push to educate boys and men not to rape, and in the absence of that education to allow women to protect themselves.

why is this avaliable in the first world where the best use for it is for false rape claims, not in the third world where you can expect to be raped on a street? It's not available in the first world, in fact it is not even available in South Africa. It is not available ANYWHERE since it is still conceptual (regretfully). Did you even check the site out at any length? You claim she does not care about women. I find it hard to find any credence in this statement. She does not appear to want to mu…

This device was created in South Africa where rape is truly at epidemic levels (according to Time 1 in 4 men they surveyed admitted to having raped someone, 46% more than once). link It's not intended for the casual "OMG I should totally shove this up my vagina before I go out drinking so I don't regret having sex with someone tomorrow" user.

I gotta say...as a man it will be 100X harder for you just because of your gender. It's not right. But it's true. However...if your balls are to the wall you will do what you have to...hire a good lawyer, or go pro se and show them that you fucking care...whatever NEEDS to be done to ensure that your child(ren) will always maintain a relationship with you. My husband fought (and fought and fought and fought, relentlessly). Now we have primary custody and have for 7-ish years. It takes an amazing…

Ugh, I'm sorry. My husband is a custodial dad but I've been in the picture since his kids were 1 and 3 (they're now 11 and 14). I can't count how many times parents refused to let their kids come over to play until they realized that there was a woman in the house. Absolute BS.
