Final court dateOh man. Can I ever related to you! | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/07/26 01:58 PM
Final court dateHoly crap! I'm so sorry to hear that. It sounds pretty stressful. I should have left a long time ago but I accepted the behaviour because I didn't think it could change and I just thought you did the best you could and carry on. Not exactly healthy and in retrospect likely the wrong thing to do but I just couldn't pull the trigger on getting divorced. It just seemed too foreign a concept to me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/07/26 01:07 AM
As a woman… I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I see youYou are awesome!! | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/07/26 04:44 PM
As a woman… I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I see youDad's never outgrow big hugs from our kids. It's the best feeling in the world. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/07/26 04:24 PM
As a woman… I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I see youWhen your som just gets it and your spouse can't, that's pretty telling, huh? | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/07/26 04:23 PM
As a woman… I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I see youI have never that saying but boy is it apt! My ex couldn't look inward and thought everything was my fault. I accepted that she wasn't able to do it and I decided to forego a bit of happiness. Turned out to be the wrong thing to do because she wasn't able to do the same for me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/07/26 04:22 PM
As a woman… I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I see youFuck! That sucks bud. I am so sorry she breached your trust in such a profound way. You don't deserve that at all. It's pretty friggin shitty. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/07/26 04:19 PM
Final court dateBoy, does this resonate. My ex blamed me for all of our woes and just could not seem to grasp that perhaps some of the issues required her to look inward. But she was just not capable of doing that. And I'm honestly not mad at her. You can't expect a leopard to change their spots. Some people are just not built to be introspective I guess. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/07/26 11:28 PM

What do you all do when you don’t have a support system? If you can, start with individual therapy and then consider couples therapy. We tried both and sadly it still didn't work out but it was a really important part of the process. And like buddy said in this thread, there are a lot of us hear that would be willing to talk to you. I'm no therapist but I'd be happy to be an ear for you any time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/01/26 06:09 PM
There is an endThere's a lot of factors to consider when doing a lump sum. And some of them require a crystal ball. If your salary goes up at a higher percentage than hers over time, then that's to your advantage. If you get a nice bonus in the future, that's a +1 for you. If she becomes unemployed in the future, again that's a plus for you. I "was" ready to retire soon but that's now on hold. I calculated alimony with me working another 4 years because "I am allowed to retire". If I work longer than 4 years t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/01/26 01:50 AM
There is an endI feel you bro. Every second Friday night my younger son goes to his mom's. It makes me so fucking sad. I do have better quality time with him though. I bought an old Wii that him and his older brother play with me. They kick my ass and I couldn't care less. I will savour every moment with them. Good for you for exercising. That is huge!! | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/01/26 03:03 PM
There is an endNo clue whether this might help you or not, but I fortunate enough to be able to give her a lump sum instead of monthly alimony. I even put it all in a spreadsheet to ensure she felt it was fair. I think it could have been worse for sure. I also hated the idea of a running tap. One less tie between us and I am very happy about that. The only thing I do now is pay child support monthly. I think Id like to bulk pay that if I could. After 25 years, I lost half my net worth. Fuck me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/01/26 03:01 PM
Man im in a dark space againIt's amazing how many of the things you said resonate with me. So many similarities. Most of the time I feel like I'm in an alternate timeline. I can't figure out why so many things seem the same but at the same time feel so different. 25 years man. I'm not sure if I'll ever feel at peace. I sure hope so. Stay strong my brother. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/01/26 03:15 AM
Man im in a dark space againI really feel for you, bud. It's zero fun to go through this process. I fucking hate it a lot of the time. If you are willing, can I try suggesting that you get a piece of paper and write out "Better days are going to come." and put on your fridge, because they will. The rain will stop and the clouds will disappear. I know I t doesn't feel that way right now. With this being so fresh, it would be near on impossible, but it's going get better. Sadly it is going to take time. For now, make sure yo… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/01/26 02:31 AM

Therapy is worth itThanks for the reply! I plan to date a gain some day and I will finitely keep this info in mind. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/25 05:51 PM
Therapy is worth itI'm curious to learn more about your statement: thought "You never know what the connection will be like in person". What a mistake that was. Do you mean that you were able to figure out enough about them from their profile and that you could have avoided meeting them in person? Can you elaborate a bit? Great post btw. I find people here are super jaded for the most part. ninja edit | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/25 04:44 PM

How was your nesting experience?I think I would be miserable too. And I agree, I think it would rub off on the kids. The kids need the best me and I don't thinking nesting will allow me to be that person. Thanks for sharing! | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/03/25 05:47 AM
After 20 years she blindsides me with “i dont want to be married anymore”I'm not sure that's correct. IANAL, but I had heard that it depends on the wording of the will. Definitely don't quote me on this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/25 08:17 PM
After 20 years she blindsides me with “i dont want to be married anymore”Do I miss being with that person or do I miss all the things I had planned for that life with her. That's a really interesting way to put it. For me personally, I miss sharing things with someone. For now I talk to my journal. Not the same but it's an outlet. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/25 08:16 PM
Tell Me It Gets Better Afterwards?Great advice especially around alcobol/weed. That's something I need to keep a really close eye on. Thanks for sharing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/25 08:03 PM
