A reversal in social progressiveness is a step too far when it comes to economic tinkering. Whether I've ever known someone to admit "I have hsv-1 on my genitals" is pretty irrelevant. A person who already has oral herpes (hsv-1 i.e. cold sores), which is almost everyone whether symptomatic or not, cannot contract it again in their genitals. Thus it has lower prevalence than hsv-2... however it still accounts for ~20% of all cases of genital herpes.
