No, men and women are not monoliths. Many of my male friends are more similar to me than some of my female friends. People just have different personality types. If you are under the impression that all men think the same, that's a sign that you are in some kind of echo chamber and only talking to other men who are similar to you. It's silly and useless to group half of humanity into a separate category when we are mentally *far* more similar than we are different.

Ah, okay. If you feel that way you’ll likely just have to get used to talking to shallow people 🤷‍♀️ just comes with the territory

I agree on the pupil dilation- I raised my eyebrows when I first read that. Men always point out how dilated my pupils are, and I think my pupils just dilate easily. Plus anyone’s will dilate in a dark club.

I don’t kiss people unless I’m pretty serious about dating them and have known them for a bit, outside of one time where a guy cornered and kissed me without asking on a first date (did NOT enjoy). I’ve never liked someone a lot and not gotten butterflies, but I have been on the fence about someone and been kissed me before I was sure what I wanted, and that can lead to a bad kiss. I’ve also had bad kisses at the end of a failing relationship, that tell me that something is wrong. It’s just an i…

Hmm.. well it’s worth considering that you might just not the type for one night stands. It takes a very specific personality to want to sleep with a stranger and to be happy never seeing them again. I know that I personally couldn’t do it. I’ve have FWBs, but a ONS is different since you genuinely know nothing about the other person and there are different anxieties involved. And I don’t know you, but I’d hazard a guess that you enjoy sex more with some level of emotional connection if you’re a…

I did; I gave very clear advice to either respect her boundaries or to cut off the relationship. Getting into a relationship with someone who doesn’t want sex when you do is just not feasible. It either ends with zero sex or with sexual assault. He should find a girl who wants to have sex.

I’m not misunderstanding, that’s just wrong. There are many people who will get into a relationship and never have sex, either because they broke up before getting married, or because one person is asexual or traumatized. Either way, this girl said she doesn’t want to have sex. Why risk sexual assault by pushing her into it? I have no clue why OP would even want to have sex with someone who would be uncomfortable doing it, that sounds like awful sex.

Did I misunderstand what you meant when you said “she can’t tell you no”? Did you instead mean that she can’t tell you that people in relationships don’t always have sex? But also, you are definitely wrong about that. I know couples who don’t have sex. A lot of people wait for marriage! Obviously religion is a huge factor, and there are also people with sexual trauma or low sex drives. Of course, that will be a dealbreaker for a lot of people (I personally wouldn’t date someone like that), but t…

No, you’re not screwed at all. It’s also actually more common than you think to have never kissed anyone at that age, I’ve met plenty of people who haven’t. When I say I can tell immediately if I like a kiss, it has to do with how I feel about the person, not really the technique. Kissing sort of brings all your feelings about someone to a head, and your body tells you if there is chemistry or not. I’ve had technically bad kisses that gave me butterflies, and technically perfect kisses that felt…

If you are an interesting person, you will attract interesting people. I’d make sure you have a lot of neat things to talk about, and if she’s into any it, she’ll quickly open up and add to the conversation . I personally have a lot of hobbies, passions, and strong opinions. But when I’m talking to someone and they are just… a bad conversation partner, it’s so hard to muster up the energy to be excited about anything. Especially if their questions just feel like an excuse to keep talking and not…

No, I’ve absolutely never said that unless I meant it. It’s actually very scary to think of a partner pushing me to sleep with them if I told them I’m not up for sex that night, since if I’m turning down sex, I’m certainly not turned on enough for it to be a fun/not painful experience. I’m very open about when I want sex. I don’t see the point in making a partner have to work for it unless we’re roleplaying with pre-established expectations. That honestly just sounds like a stupid and shitty thi…

It’s funny that you say that because when you look up examples of shit tests, the top results all clearly say that they are premeditated. But please do enlighten me and give an example of a shit test that someone will say unconsciously.

Respect the boundary she put up, full stop. You can’t just assume something is a shit test when it comes to things like sexual consent. Anyone who would put up a boundary for the sake of testing you is a dangerous person to be around anyway, since you absolutely do not want to be toeing the line of assault. If there’s any chance at all that she simply does not want to have sex, you should legally and morally assume that is the case, for both your sake and hers.

Okay I’m sorry but what on earth are you talking about? I’m not sure if you have personal issues regarding romance or something, but most women do actually have reasonable relationship expectations and a decent sense of respect for others. This honestly sounds like incel rhetoric and is not going to help anyone.

I think there might be some misconceptions here. I’m a woman, firstly, in case you missed that. I’m 25 and I’m bisexual- and I’ve dated plenty of people, both casually and very seriously. Plenty of experience here. I also have a solid group of very kind friends, both men and women. Neither I, nor my friends, have ever given anyone a shit test. It’s not something people do unless they are manipulative, full stop. You will only ever have someone give you a shit test if they very inexperienced and …

That’s good, no reason to be insecure about your height anyway. Okay, so it sounds like there was a red flag of some kind during the date. I don’t know if she decided she didn’t like the way you kissed, or if there was just something about you two that didn’t mesh, but clearly she noticed something that made her not want a relationship partway through. I can’t say how far into the date it happened because she might have noticed it right away and just tried to ignore it, or she may have only noti…

Phrasing and intent are important. There’s a difference between being upfront and respectful: “I just want to be clear that I’m not looking for anything serious right now- I want you to know that so I don’t waste your time if you’re looking for something else” …and being a fuckboy: “I’m just looking for sex tbh” People in general will almost always appreciate you thinking of their feelings and communicating openly to them. After all, relationships are ideally mutually beneficial. You should both…

I’m 5’1 and 5’10 is super tall. It’s not your height , 100%. Unless you lied about it on your bio, in which case I would see the lie as a red flag. And in order to give you advice I really need to hear your answer to the question I asked in the last comment! Because there are ~3 most likely possibilities here, and I can’t narrow it down until I have that info

You’re getting a ton of responses and I doubt you can answer them all, so, anyone reading this, if you want advice I’d be open to answering questions too. There’s a LOT of bad advice out there. I have experience coaching others on interpersonal issues, so I’d love to clear things up for y’all

Men do the same, if it makes you feel better. A lot of people download dating apps when they feel lonely. Often after a breakup, or simply when they realize their life is depressing. So they go onto an app to try and connect with people. And in that desperation to feel less lonely, they swipe on anyone who they feel anything positive about, because it feels like “maybe they could be the one”. Then the next day, or the next week, they start to feel better. Maybe their therapy appointment went wel…

Tbh your main issue is probably thinking that there is a male sexual strategy and a female sexual strategy. When, in fact, every individual person is searching for different things, and you can’t expect to apply dating advice that may work on one person, to everyone. Women and men are more alike than they are different. Choosing to view women as something alien is uncomfortable for everyone involved.

The issue here isn’t that “be nice” is bad advice, it’s that the type of man who frequents PUA and seduction forums is going to interpret it in a very different way than it was intended. “Be nice” doesn’t mean act like a doormat, tell her she’s pretty, put her on a pedestal, let her do what she wants, etc. It genuinely just means that you should empathize with women as human beings with very similar thoughts and emotions as you, and to recognize that they are not prizes to be won. That advice is…

I’m going to be honest, 90% of relationship advice can be simply summed up as “just communicate honestly and kindly with the other person.” It’s way more valuable than people think and will get you far.

I feel like you’re not understanding what I’m saying; she probably liked you a lot over text and calls. And when you met in person, there was something off between you two. It’s not that you did something wrong per se- you just weren’t compatible and she didn’t feel comfortable because of that. That’s the whole point of a date, to find out if you click. Did you really like her as a person to the point you would turn down other girls for her? Or was she mainly just a means to an end? Because your…

It’s genuinely insane IMO, if someone shit tested me I would walk right out. Pickup culture in general really normalizes a lot of not normal behavior. And that only further isolates the people who use it, which is the last thing they need.
/r/seduction30/07/22 08:47 AM

If you build a date up in your head as a means to an end, and not just a chance to test compatibility with the other person, I don’t think you will have much success. It also just sounds like a lot of pressure tbh! Most dates don’t work out, so if you’re always going into things expecting something specific, you’re going to be disappointed more often than not. You’re not achievement hunting, you’re just getting to know someone. I think most people can tell when their date is just looking to get …

In-person chemistry is way, way different than it is in texts or even video chats. It’s very normal for people to lose that spark once they meet in person. It doesn’t mean you did anything wrong, just that you weren’t a good match!

Honestly, normal people don’t use “shit tests”. It’s just something that manipulative and toxic people do. I think the concept has spread so much because PUAs use them a lot (since PUAs are manipulators), and they assume everyone else thinks the same way they do (they don’t). I have literally never shit tested a date and I don’t know anyone who has, man or woman.

I can tell if I don’t like kissing someone within… 2 seconds maybe? But a lot of people can feel pressured while actually on a date, and she might have been trying to make it work anyway, since it can feel pretty bad to realize that you’re not actually that attracted to someone while already out with them. Most people do not enjoy feeling like they have accidentally led someone on- it’s awkward all around. I wouldn’t read too much into any of this. The whole point of dating is to try to test out…

I would recommend not approaching women in public while they are just living their life (store, gym, public transit, etc.). Instead try to make connections at clubs/meetups, parties, classes, work, and other social atmospheres. Most women will get uncomfortable if approached in public. I personally don’t enjoy it at all and it‘s sometimes even scary, since being hit on can actually be quite dangerous for us. Being surprised by that while just trying to get errands done or something puts me on th…
