Wife’s divorce attorney served me Interrogatories formCall her attorney’s office and ask for the documents in a word file. Switch the names around, print out two copies and send it back to her attorney. Make her go through the same misery. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/21 11:45 PM
The high cost of divorceThis whole tactic of stalling absolutely sucks! Currently in month 13 of proceedings. 50k so far between the two of us. Filed for a court date - somehow she and her attorney are unavailable until December. Over 2 million in assets and I am living off credit cards as she froze all of our accounts. Meanwhile she lives for free in the paid off house. Like my attorney told me “you have a penis problem” (as in I’m a guy) | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/06/21 12:25 PM
STBXW being very unreasonable (WA State)I am also in WA - STBX and her attorney were going for $5,400 a month in combined child support and maintenance. Had a court hearing for temporary orders, she was awarded a combined $1,800. An expensive no nonsense attorney is a must for you right now. Good luck and stay strong! | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/05/21 02:51 PM
Your Every Once in a While ReminderOnce again in case anyone has missed it - “there is no such thing as a strong independent woman in divorce court” | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/21 03:21 PM
How to best survive the character assassination attempts? In my case most of the mutual friends turned out to be mutual friends because of me. It seems most of them never thought very highly of my STBX wife. You just never know. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/21 02:42 PM
Just got served divorced papers today. Any advice would be helpful.Lawyer up, plan for the worst - hope for the best. Just remember- there are no strong independent women in divorce court! | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/21 07:17 PM
I'm about to be a poor person, aren't I?Talk to a couple of lawyers, you don’t need to hire one yet. We started down the mediation road, I’m sure a lot of other know it all women told her she was going to get screwed. She lawyered up and filed for divorce. I was accused of all of the typical things, fortunately I had an attorney ready to go. We are now in month 12 of proceedings. I’m not saying yours will go this way, I’m just saying to be prepared. Best of luck! | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/05/21 01:09 AM
Lessons learned? There is no such thing as a strong, independent woman in divorce court. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/05/21 12:23 PM
AdviceTake a deep breath my friend, you are in a way better place financially than you think. She is using intimidation hoping that you will just lie down and roll over. Start by finding a good attorney who will be willing to fight for you, they are out there! Just hearing what an attorney has to say in the initial consultation will make you feel a lot better! Stay strong! | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/04/21 09:46 PM
Claim of Alcohol Abuse in child custodyMy STBX told everyone we know that I had an alcohol problem (not true), then she filed for divorce. Her attorney played every card she had - none of it made one bit of difference when we had the custody / support hearing. I was awarded 50/50 custody. Trust your attorney. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/03/21 02:50 PM
Wife took kids and drained joint bank account. At this stage it probably doesn’t matter. I did not have an attorney on retainer for the first couple of months. Did it on my own with help from a non family law attorney. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/02/21 01:52 PM
Wife took kids and drained joint bank account.Do you know anyone who has been through divorce? Any family members who you think may have thought about divorce? One thing that I found surprising was the number of people I know that had an attorney waiting offstage. I do know my dealings with my attorney and the court hearings have all been virtual so maybe look outside of Douglas? | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/02/21 02:24 AM
Wife took kids and drained joint bank account. You need to find an attorney today. Where in WA are you? I interviewed with four before I hired one. Also had lots of recommendations from attorneys in other fields. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/02/21 12:55 PM
Self filling for divorcePlease be careful! We started down the road of an amicable divorce. I’m guessing people told her that she was getting screwed. Without me knowing she got an attorney. I received a letter accusing me of abuse, threatening me with restraining orders and was given ten days to leave our home. I found the best attorney I could - we are currently in month 9 of proceedings. Attorneys fees are about 30k combined so far. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/02/21 03:10 PM
Ha ha, I'm fuckedFind the best attorney you possibly can. I would suggest a male attorney, mine is pretty much all business. At first I thought he was way too expensive but have since decided he is worth every penny. The hopefully STBX hired a female attorney, every move she makes backfires. The judge awarded her 20% of what they were asking for in support and alimony. Stay strong dude! | /r/MGTOW | 20/02/21 02:23 PM
Venting a bitThe comments here are spot on! My STBX must have been pumped full of BS from her attorney. Went for everything, once she came back to earth, she started dragging her feet. We are now on month 9 of the divorce. Her attorney will not even reply! | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/02/21 03:12 PM
Expectations when separated? You should really move back in, then get an attorney. Don’t move back out until some sort of agreement is reached. I stayed in the house for 6 months after she filed for divorce. We negotiated 50/50 custody of our daughter but we let her decide where she wants to stay (she’s 16). As far as feeling lonely, the first four weeks after moving were pretty bad. Now I am loving my freedom, there are no expectations and there is no stress. As far as communication goes, keep it simple. Only if it pertain… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/02/21 03:04 PM
The collapse of my marriage. This whole story is very familiar to me. Chances are she already has counsel. Please get initial consults with a couple of attorneys. Don’t try to use your Google law degree. I will say that any allegations of abuse will quickly go away if you have decent representation. Don’t leave the house, don’t do anything that will get her to call the police. Careful with text messages and refrain from commenting on social media. It may get really evil and toxic but you will get through it. Sorry for the b… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/01/21 02:48 PM
Separation and CustodyMake sure her attorney knows you have retained counsel. I received a similar email accusing me of abuse, threatening me with a restraining order and telling me to leave the house within 10 days. I lawyered up that same day, he contacted her attorney, the threatening email pretty much disappeared. I am still in the house three months later. Don’t move out without your attorneys approval. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/12/20 01:40 PM
To fight or notI ask myself that just about everyday. After 20 years of marriage, I expected more from her. Pretty sure that once her attorney started pumping her full of sh*t, any remaining empathy went out the door. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/10/20 11:34 PM
To fight or notFight! I am going through a rotten divorce at the moment also. Her attorney is plain evil. At least once a day I think about throwing in the towel, but then I tell myself, “why should I be the only one to suffer”. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/10/20 01:50 PM
