we're not engaged but we have agreed we both see each other as good husband/wife prospects and hope we are together for a really long time. I want to show him I'm wife material and trust him. We just talked again and he seems to really be pushing for me to stay based on the fact I could probably resolve the differences- but I feel uncomfortable telling my boss he needs to fire his wife, cut back on my hours, offer up more vacation, pay me more money, and maybe not take on so many crazy clients. …

I'm in a similar situation to OP except the roles are reversed- I got a job offer and my BF is really encouraging me to stick with my current one. The thing is, the new job is less hours, less stressful, slightly more money, and would train me for a position that would almost double my salary that I could have in a year. I'm not even concerned about the money- I'm just so stressed and last Friday my boss made me deliver documents somewhere and I was on the road until 8pm- which interfered with d…

Yeah that's definitely how I was feeling. The more he didn't pay attention to me the more I thought he was spiting me/not listening/not taking me seriously and so it escalated the importance to me.

but also feeling entitled to the honeymoon phase going on indefinitely. Rationally you know that can't happen, but part of you expects it to anyway. Yes. I mean this is my longest and probably most serious relationship and while I've always heard about how the honeymoon phase dies out, this is my first experience dealing with it first hand and I guess I just thought I was so awesome that I could singlehandedly keep it going forever. Talk about control issues. "I'm going to have to not say anythi…

You didn't let him go out. You're not his mother. You did a great job on realizing it but subtle things like that can continue to creep up on you. OMG thank you SOOO much for picking up on that and pointing it out! You're right. I must be doing other small things like that that are making him resent me. Like take a hot bubble bath.... alone! This has actually become my Friday night routine and I'd be lying if I said I'd rather be out with my girl friends. When you are around someone all the time…
