I've totally been there too. I saw a therapist and even ended up in a mental hospital for some medium-grade depression. The whole process, from realizing something was off to getting treatment, took way too long, like 2 years. Anyway, if you're feeling exhausted, hopeless, or putting too much pressure on yourself, it's crucial to deal with those feelings because they ain't good for you and at some point you break sooner or later.

I don't know what your expectations are, but I've been working for a European Navy for 15 years. I'm on the verge of becoming a staff officer. The salary is good and consistent. My benefits are great. But my performance isn't really measurable. The service is mostly very slow, bureaucratic, and not really inspiring. Especially with an IT background, I wouldn't put up with this.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
