True story. We were begging some of them just to put their names on the bottom of the list and explaining that they would probably never be in the council anyway, and even if they had to it would just be once a month and they wouldn’t need to be active in any work group... sad but true.

This. I ran for my city council in France. It’s a list vote and parity is mandatory. No one can imagine how hard it is to find 15 women in a ~5000 city interested to be part of their local council even if you promise them they won’t need to work much. Mandatory gender parity is so stupid, I wouldn’t care if more women were in the council...
