I learned the hard way that when someone calls you selfish or a narcissist, it's almost always because they have those tendencies. Why else would they call you that,?

I dated someone last year who selectively spouted feminist stuff about privilege in order to gain more social status and privilege. I broke up after I saw narcissistic tendencies. Not saying your gf is a narcissist. But if there's no empathy for the real sufferings of modern men that's not a great basis for a long term relationship. Ditto for vice versa of course

I knew someone on the board of certification of counselors for our province and she said about 50% of counselors graduating from a program shouldn't be one because of their own mental health issues. People study psychology partly because of their own shit. So yeah, getting a bad therapist is unfortunately common. It's unfortunately buyer beware which sucks for those used to narcissistic behavior. If you still want therapy, try to enlist help in the selection of one. Get rid of this one.

I think one of the biggest causes of societal misunderstanding and conflict is the oversimplification that is implicit in social media. Few people read more than a paragraph or one twitter update. In that few words, you can only build on existing tropes, eg., Men hurt women. You can't bring nuance, like that statistically men and women are not that different in terms of who instigates violence. I recently watched a video of a black guy's response listening to Thomas Sewell, a black professor, on…

For anyone who says "bros before hos", that also means being understanding. It's a f*cking lonely time right now and I'm not going to diss anyone who acts out a little and gets sex because they're lonely. Loneliness kills. I've been there. I will say that you'll feel your soul dying over the long term being with someone who's that narcissistic. One of my basic rules, developed over time, is that I don't want to be physically naked with someone I sense I can never be emotionally naked with. There…

She is overweight but not obese. Obese would be a lot rounder. I wonder if Jordan Peterson deliberately left out the word "personally". Would people still have the outrage if he said he found her personally not beautiful?

Makes sense to me. Police are trained to establish dominance immediately. Men are perceived as a higher threat of force than woman, so there is more dominance-establishing behavior with men than woman. This behavior is inherently stressful and even traumatic to some.

Legally, lying about being on birth control would result in emotional and financial issues, but lying about a wearing a condom could result in something unwanted growing inside the woman's body, hence it is considered a criminal offence like assault. Also it is much easier to prove lying about wearing a condom. Not saying it's right, nor that there should be no consequences for lying about birth control, but there are legal reasons one is criminal. A financial abortion could be automatic for lyi…

I dislike silencing responses. Isn't it what's often done online? You're not allowed to talk because you're a man (or white, or whatever). The post wasn't perfectly expressed, but it is important. I don't want anyone to read this sub and after a few posts think it belongs to incels.

I wish there was more realistic education on the effects of alcohol. It was ranked in a peer reviewed study as the most harmful drug overall in Lancet. As the dose increases, it makes the person myopic, unable to evaluate consequences, and quite stupid. Many college students don't know this and getting blackout drunk can still be bragging rights. It's sad when the effects of alcohol are ignored in court or in the court of media. This particular decision seems to have a sound legal basis. As for …

It is only slightly related, but I listed to the Revisionist History podcast recently and liked his commentary about alcohol, that effectively what it does to the brain is dumb it down so that when drunk, you no longer get social norms, don't see boundaries, nor can you envision consequences of your actions. And yet in environments like college, getting totally wasted is encouraged and there's little education on the real effects of alcohol on behavior and choice. This came to mind because stati…

Thank you so much. I can be frustrated seeing posts on here impying all feminism is bad...it's a bit too close to incels hating women, though I understand it's coming from hurt and a sense of betrayal. So I think hearing compassionate feminine voices in solidarity lets hurt men know that even if voices like yours are a minority, they are still out there. Thank you.

My first girlfriend literally tried to kick my balls off. When I tried to leave she blocked my way out. She got even more serious about the kicking, so after warning her, I punched her in the stomach. Not too hard, just enough to get away. She twisted and got a bruised rib. She told her friends and the chiropractor I gave her the bruised rib, but never gave the history. To be honest, I'm not sure I had the voice to say it wasn't my fault. I just felt automatically guilty. I think all of my life …

Just reading your comment history shows me tons of feminist hatred. How can I respond? I don't consider myself a feminist, but I'm not against it. Depends on the person. In the end, it's still hatred, and it's not what the world needs - against anyone. I just hope you see yourself clearly in time and get yourself what you need. We don't need more MensRights version of incels.

I'm uncomfortable with any implication all of feminism is toxic. This is no more true than saying all of the men's right discussion groups are absolutely enlightened. It's true many feminists have been far too influence by cancel culture and fallaciously believe after #metoo that online rage without nuance is the way to go to promote change. That's a different thing. I wish there was a quick acronym for the more men-hating feminists. MASAE (Men Are te Source of All Evil) feminism?

I don't believe in saying one should like or dislike a whole class of people, whether it be men, woman, or trans women. There can be abusive trans women just as there can be abusive men and women. I also do not support the term TERF as it's turned into a derogatory thought terminating cliche. There's enough polarization already, we don't need more terms meant to divide and place one side as the right one

I disagree with tarring all feminists with the same brush. I think every field has had the echo chamber effect of social media, where those disagreeing even only with subtleties can get met with cancelling. Ideally the true empowering of women and men can happen together. Powering one side at the expense of the other is oppression no matter who does it Just to give an example, Meghan Murphy is a feminist that gets a lot of flak because contrary to some trans activists, she says there are biologi…

I hope there's no one that disagrees. I saw one downvote which is discouraging. I hate the culture wars, with gender politics being used as a divide and conquer tactic. The idea of privilege being used less as an insightful idea and more as a tactic to attack achieve supremacy in a certain social group. I personally wish more people looked at trauma as an interconnected, multigenerational thing. You can't deal with female oppression and trauma completely in isolation, without also looking at tha…

Strength, yes. Endurance in general, no. There's a trade off. For some activity, women have more endurance than men. https://www.flowin.com/index.php?page=blog_post&blog_id=65

IMO there is a difference between *feeling* raped and actually being raped from a legal perspective. It's easy if you've come from an awful childhood to get into an unhealthy relationship which brings learned helplessness, then get into moments where it *feels* like being raped. Perhaps it's a childhood flashback. Memory is unreliable with strong emotions - the emotions inform the memory, so if there's a feeling of being raped, the narrative can adapt to support the emotion. There's slow movemen…

But even after women were allowed into the military, it's still rare for them to get real combat roles. A lot of equipment requires strong upper body strength, and women just don't have that in general.

There is no such thing as justice for long term abuse in childhood. What can ever balance the scales for that?

It can be impossible to separate 1) the effects of the original incident and 2) the cascading effects of society's attitudes towards such behaviors over 30 years. I myself was raised by a narcissist mother who used me for emotional comfort and cuddling, not respecting boundaries at all. In the media outreach to document the harms of sexual abuse, it was very easy for me to think there must have been forgotten sexual abuse and attribute the signs of trauma to overt sexual abuse. It's only been in…

One thing I've learned is that privilege is not a one dimensional thing. It depends on the sub-community. There's areas in society males have more privilege, sure, but also areas females have the upper hand. In any woke atmospheres, sometimes trans activists have more privilege - they can get away with rudeness and even abuse in those areas, silencing opposition, whereas the same behavior from a cis male would be jumped on. I've gotten cynical about its use (or abuse) because it seems like a way…

The comments I have got from the moderator(s) indicate that the moderator(s) include trans men. Not to disparage that, but it is distinct from a CIS man and I've seen evidence that being trans friendly take precedence to some of what has been discussed here.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
