Cosplay does not equal consent.... Yeah ladies... keep your hands to yourself. (male victim harassment story)I'm not coming around to anything, I've always been for the support of men. Like I said, not every single person who identifies as a feminist wants to chase men down the street with pitchforks and rejoice when something bad happens to them. :p You know, people automatically assume that guys have it so easy. "Women are the only ones who are oppressed in this society." Not true. This whole "men are mindless sex machines who only think of one thing and have no feelings" is absolutely TERRIBLE. | 3 | Cosplay does not equal consent.... Yeah ladies... keep your hands to yourself. (male victim harassment story)Oh so a minute ago, feminists were sticking up for men but now everyone needs to pitch in too. I fail to see how everyone pitching in somehow means that feminists aren't sticking up for men. "Everyone" includes feminists - protection for abuse victims is something every reasonable, empathic human being is all for, and should work for. It's not feminists sole responsibility to save the world, just like it isn't men's rights activists or anti-racists or whatever. While I realise it's hard to fight… | /r/MensRights | 14/04/13 12:48 AM
Cosplay does not equal consent.... Yeah ladies... keep your hands to yourself. (male victim harassment story)Hopefully! I'd be extremely disappointed if the American (assuming you are American) people were not fighting for everyone to be protected from any form of abuse. This isn't just an issue that's in feminism's hands though, this is up to EVERYONE to push for changed legislation, whether or not they identify as a feminist or not. Are there many support groups for male domestic abuse victims in the US? I've heard stories about male victims occasionally(?) not being allowed into shelters because of … | /r/MensRights | 13/04/13 11:39 PM
Cosplay does not equal consent.... Yeah ladies... keep your hands to yourself. (male victim harassment story)Short answer: Because one bad egg doesn't spoil the entire batch. You can't judge everyone based on the actions by some fundamentalists, even though that is the easier way out. I call myself a feminist because I believe in equality, which IS what feminism is trying to achieve. I also acknowledge the positive changes feminism has had for women's rights - the right to vote, not being able to be raped by our husbands - basically not being voiceless property. I don't believe it's right for me to tur… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/13 09:41 PM
Cosplay does not equal consent.... Yeah ladies... keep your hands to yourself. (male victim harassment story)No, actually, it doesn't. I AM a feminist, and this is what I'm telling you. You need to understand that not all feminists agree on the same things. There are women who think that men are the root of all evil. Most of us don't believe this. I fully acknowledge that women have the same capabilities of being rapists, molesters, child abusers, murders and abusers as men do, and a lot of feminists do that with me. You lot on this subreddit need to get over your misconceptions and this whole idea tha… | /r/MensRights | 13/04/13 09:05 PM
Cosplay does not equal consent.... Yeah ladies... keep your hands to yourself. (male victim harassment story)What does this even have to do with feminism!? Some of the people on this sub-reddit find EVERY excuse to blame feminism for whatever problem there is in the world. "Some girl touching a guy against his will (i.e. SEXUALLY HARASSING SOMEONE) is protected by "feminism" because she's a woman." You obviously don't know what feminism is, so stop mentioning it to push your own agenda. Feminism works against ALL forms of sexual harassment against ALL people - men, women, transgender. | 1 | Facebook argument... I can't fault his reasoning. Not sure if anyone's going to see this comment, but as a feminist, I just want to make it clear that not all of us see ourselves as delicate little flowers. I'm 5'4 128lbs, there's no grown man that couldn't do a lot of damage to me, but if I was to hit one, I'd fully expect him, and wouldn't blame him, to hit me back in self-defence. That said, I don't advocate violence towards ANYONE, man or woman, but I do want to just make this point because not all women, feminist or not, believe that we ha… | /r/MensRights | 23/03/13 10:46 AM
Facebook argument... I can't fault his reasoning. You have to remember though that the radicals create headlines and get a lot more media attention than a "normal" feminist would. Unfortunately, most journalists would jump at the chance to interview someone spewing "men are animals" bullshit than someone who's rationalising about an issue. It's important that people realise that there are tons of sub-divisions in feminism, not every single feminist thinks the same and follows a set belief system. I do get that it's easier to generalise, but tru… | /r/MensRights | 23/03/13 10:43 AM
