You can try to continue the original conversation by asking clarifying questions to encourage her to continue. If that conversation is clearly over, you can try bringing up similar topics of conversations if you were both particularly interested/engaged. Or if you want a completely new topic, a general rule of thumb is to ask someone questions about themselves or questions about a subject you know the other person is interested in. And just take the conversation from there. The good thing is tha…

This is a great example of the most awkward way you could handle the situation. During a silent moment, engage in a staring contest until she finally says something and then hug her when she does? Okay.....

If that's the case, then I've misspoken. From your post you put a huge emphasis on how often you've ignored her and seemingly deliberately didn't respond to her texts. It gives off the impression that you're running game.

Not all women prefer to be treated this way at all. As a woman, I deal with flakes by getting over them and moving on. You're being just as flaky as you accuse her of being I don't know if people realize, but when you play the game, it's obvious. I am not about to waste my time with a dude that spends that much time and effort deciding when it's strategically most advantageous to contact me and when to leave me hanging.

I personally think catching a dude pretending to smoke in order to talk to a girl is a lot less creepy than catching a dude lurking around the women's locker room...

Chick here. Perfect approach. The only way a cold pickup in the gym would work for me is if I was in the middle of a set, a guy comes over and condescendingly pats me on the head and then proceeds to explain to a little lady like me how a real man works out.

Thanks for being that guy. Chick here- dudes hit on me every time I'm at the gym and I hate it. I'm there to work out and break a sweat. Not to tool around on the elliptical in a matching jumpsuit and wait for guys to talk to me. I'm not interested and, great, now I get to feel uncomfortable for the rest of my workout because I'm suddenly super aware of how form fitting my yoga pants are. If you wanna run game, talk to me on my way out. If you can't close it in that time, better luck next girl.

That was an excellent story. Thanks for sharing that. That kid just had the best day ever. I just wish you could use this as a positive way to advocate men's rights. If I had never read your title, never in a million years would I have read this great story and thought anything about pedophiles. The negativity in your title, and sometimes other threads in this subreddit, unknowingly plant those negative seeds yourselves. Instead of always saying what men aren't, prove what they are. As this stor…

There are many women's blogs I enjoy, but this is one is so bad I feel like I'm being trolled reading it. They should just forward all articles to r/mensrights for material. After I realized the source, I only read the first "hint". Here is the only place that suggests being shy when approaching a woman. Why? So she can feel more confident... This statement is offensive to both men and women. I am confident enough in myself as a person that I can possess this quality even in the absence of a pun…

When you have someone in your life with the title of "ex turned fuck buddy best friend" you're not going to find the girl you're looking for. Because she doesn't want to be with a guy that has a shitload of ex/fuckbuddy/bestfriend baggage. When you examine what's going on in your life that is causing your current situation, I would start with that. Sounds like you need to figure out what role you really want her to play or not play in your life. But while you're deciding that, go ahead and expec…

Chick here. Your comments about being confident in the approach is dead on, it's probably the most important thing in a first impression, because if you aren't confident in the approach, you're going to have to try a lot harder in everything else to make up for it. Also to add to your list of self conscious behaviors: a lot of hair fixing and adjusting your shirt. This is a dead give away that you feel uncomfortable and if you feel uncomfortable, I'm going to feel uncomfortable. But I think that…

No need to be so aggressive. I never said they were anecdotes. I haven't made any assumptions. And I haven't made any statements about gender bias. My only point has ever been that he never claimed to speak for the entire system, only for what he actually experienced. I think being that he is only one person it would be silly to assume his perspective could possibly speak for the entire system. But it is possible that his answers truly do reflect his experiences in the county he practices in.

My point remains the same. Those "hundreds of thousands" of examples are irrelevant because as that lawyer said, he could speak only to his personal experience. If anything, it's more a matter of his sample size being way too small to speak about the system in general. But he said countless times he was speaking only of cases he was personally involved in; it isn't his fault that people tried to apply his answers to the entire system and then became dissatisfied in doing so.

The "hundreds of thousands" of contradictory sources you refer to are from all over the world. He said many times he would comment only on what he had personally experienced as a lawyer practicing in his state (I forget which one now). Of course his number of experiences would seem like only a "handful of anecdotes" compared to what's potentially out there. He never claimed to speak for the entire system, only the system that he experienced.

I've used the phrase "if you play your cards right"....and it isn't really an enthusiastic yes. It's more like a noncommittal maybe. It avoids the pressure of saying yes if you're unsure, and also the awkwardness of a straight up refusal.
