As long as you recognize it's a two-year grind, yeah that experience is invaluable and can get you into better jobs.

Don't pretend that keeping a broken marriage is in the best interest of the kid. In my opinion kids would prefer to see their parents happy and separated to seeing them miserable and forcing a relationship to stay together. Are you sure you're not wanting to stay together to protect your ego?

Is this some kind of confession rant? Go work on yourself and figure out what you want and go do it. Read the sidebar material and have at it.

I'm also Christian and I agree. In fact, in our wedding ordinance (I'm LDS), the wife covenants that she will hearken unto the counsel of her husband so long as he hearkens unto the counsel of God. There's no reciprocated covenant the man makes with the woman. It's easy to see the men who take this to heart and those who don't.

I don't understand why the phrases "I'm sorry" and "I apologize" are such taboo around here. Your frame is what matters, not your words. Own your mistakes, address them, then move on.

Defend Excuse Explain Rationalize. Did you do anything wrong, ie cheating? No? Play it off with your wife then. The more defensive you get the more she will think you have something to defend.

Absolutely this. OP didn't establish expectations and disapproved when the wife broke his covert contract.

"She doesn't want kids. She makes me mad with this. She knows it bothers me." This is purely victim puke. Take a minute to determine your goals. Write them down. Then discuss them with your wife. Tell her that you want kids. Then stop pulling out. Address fitness tests as they come up, like if she brings up birth control or using condoms. Own yourself and she will follow.

I'd like to chime in and say that while this is good to know, sometimes it's simply a result of poor diet and/or improper/no exercise. I was diagnosed with ED and low T and was given a prescription for testosterone but I chose to try heavy weightlifting (squats/dead lifts especially) and refining my diet first (lots of cruciferous vegetables and more meat) and my sex drive is leagues better than it used to be. Admittedly, I haven't gotten another blood test for testosterone levels, but with how …

"That's not what you said on Sunday." And why were you discussing methods how to avoid the dude? Your wife is a grown woman and can handle it. She's not telling you to help you, she's bragging at best and warning you (or even confessing) at worst. Set your boundary by flirting with her and get more stern the more she pushes the story. For example, she brings dude up, you respond "do you like him back?" If she says no, you reply "good, I don't want to share you" and continue flirting from there. …

This sounds like you're looking for answers in extraneous behaviors while ignoring the fundamentals. Quit looking for quick fixes; when the initial rush stops, you'll just start looking for something else. I'm currently reading through The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which explains the difference fairly well. I recommend reading it as it will help you discern between things that discipline you into being a better person and behaviors that only make you seem that way.

Python is easy and ridiculously useful, even if you don't have a job programming. I learned by doing a project I thought of (webscraping then some analytics) and I use it at work (big data, no software development) on a daily basis. Usually jobs aren't Python-only, though; it's typically another tool in the utility belt. If you want an easier time finding a job look into Java.

When my wife and I are stressed, I bring it up as something we both need to work on, such as "I know we're both stressed because of the move and you're 9 months pregnant. We need to make sure we keep communication friendly." This works for us. Never bring it up as something she needs to do for you, though. She's not your mother. If you can't control the stress itself you need to find activities to unwind. Do them and invite her.

Don't ask at all. State what happened differently than what you expected and let her respond. Example: "I didn't expect you to turn then." Also, "You did y. I thought we were going to do x." She will then reply she didn't know what to do or how to do it, or she will respond negatively which suggests a behavioral issue and not a knowledge or capability problem. Proceed from there.

Fair enough. The only advice I can give is when she gets belligerent, leave the room. If she continues to confront you, leave the house. You can go silently or tell her you will speak with her when she is done being upset. Either way, don't let the situation blow up.

I'd probably whack you if you repeatedly told me to calm down, too. That is very counterproductive when dealing with a frustrated person and frankly quite beta. Were you or was she driving at the time? That's even worse. Either way, your first mate was playing as acting captain and as the storm began to brew she panicked while you, the captain, told her to knock it off. Sure, the storm ended up being a tiny drizzle and you knew that, but you weren't leading and so she thought it was the end of t…

Flooding your stomach with water while you eat will slow your digestion too much. Most sources I'm reading on a quick Google search suggest the opposite. Obviously too much water will make you sick, but just try not drinking liquid during or before a meal, especially one high in fiber; you'll get thirsty very quickly.

Shut your hamster down. Your weightlifting and self-improvement have most certainly not made you less attractive, but your weak attitude. Note that I don't necessarily agree with others here that you should simply drop this relationship because your attitude will make future relationships just as bad. You do need to look up dread game. You clearly have many things going for you: attractive, well-off financially, etc. She, however, is obviously taking this for granted because of your attitude. Th…

Pushy? Wanting to fulfill your natural desires is pushy? You need to take a step back and reevaluate yourself; are you getting married to her because she is your precious little princess and you just can't wait to live with her forever and grow old together? Or is she marrying you because you're a rock of a man, a man who is a leader in all things and she's committed to following you for the rest of her life? If you're not the prize, you're going to suffer. Badly. Believe me, we've all been thro…

This is my secret to healthy eating: eat less. How to do that consists of several options (this assumes you know your daily macro and caloric intake. If not, find one online) : 1) /r/leangains - put simply, don't eat before noon and don't eat after 8. 2) Drink oodles of water, especially just before and during meals. 3) Eat in this order: vegetables, proteins, then carbs. Fats are often a part of these, but add some nuts to the end if you need more. Doing this prevents you from gorging on carbs …

Lots of people who have lost a lot of weight and kept it off don't strictly count calories, they just eyeball how much they should eat and make sure to get enough protein. Sure, they eat sensible foods (avoiding sugars and simple carbs), but you don't have to count each and every meal down to the individual calorie. I've been doing this since the beginning of the year after having tracked calories religiously for about a month to get a feel for how nutritious things are and I've been losing abou…

Genuine apologies is something I think most men here will agree is not only OK but expected. We just moved and my plan was to move everything one van load at a time over a few days then I would help her clean (she's nine months pregnant). I failed to finish in the time I allotted, and told her once that I did not meet the schedule I planned and I apologize. That's it. I expect the same from her; no excessive apologies, just sincere ones. Edit: obviously I wouldn't apologize if she demanded an ap…

Look, I agree with you, but we shouldn't be your audience. All this victim puke just makes me think that you still don't quite get it. You need to own yourself and clearly lay out to your wife your expectations for your marriage, keep the course, and see if she will follow your lead. If so, great. If not, "Next!" Bear in mind that, in my opinion, you're at or near rock-bottom right now and need to crawl your way back up to being the leader of your family and it will take time for her to respect …

I've lost track of the number of covert contracts here. She approaches you with something she's obviously put a lot of thought into and you react like she's rebelling? Yeah, sure, citing a girl power blog would have ticked me off, too, but, and I'm taking your post at face value here, you reacted like a child by ranting about how she's trying to usurp your perfect little lifestyle. It's no surprise she reacted the same way and is now in fact trying to rebel against your wishes. You need to put y…

I don't see enough context here to give a fair assessment of the situation but frankly it appears to me that you are being unreasonable. I agree with Athol Kay in that homemaker is not a career and have told my wife as much. I'm content with her making crafts and working in esthetics occasionally (she's graduated hair school but no license since we moved out of state rather quickly after), and I would be ecstatic if she suggested going to school. Considering our current situation, though, (baby …

My advice after one year: stop thinking and keep working. Pointing out your wife's faults to anyone but her just serves as vomit puke; it doesn't help you, it doesn't help her, and, frankly, no one cares. Work on you; don't worry about her. She'll notice and catch up eventually.

Here is my standard template after getting rejected: 1) Peck on the forehead and smile. No words or few words, like "perhaps another time." No acknowledging her feelings, like "OK that's fine." 2) Immediately go into another room or leave the house and DO something else (read a book, work on things, play videogames, anything). This pattern establishes that you want intimacy and you respect yourself enough to not pout even a little bit if she says no, but you're also not going to hang around in t…

Your need for her approval is bleeding through. You acknowledge her feelings too much and enter her frame by saying "fine, OK, I'll be back later," or other things that cater to whatever she might be thinking. None of that matters. Let her know you're going out. If she comes, great. If not, give her a peck (or don't, whatever) and say "see ya."

is anouncing that you're going to have a wank in the shower (no porn) after 3 nights of rejection an unreasonable or shitty thing to do? No, but it is a weak strategy. I did what you did, but my sex life changed only when I laid out my expectations, such as: I wouldn't be in a loveless (no sex) marriage and I expect it at least every other day. This took a couple months of outcome independence on my part (my wife often said the same thing yours did, but I would simply leave the house and do what…

I'm 29 and my t levels were terrible and I felt terrible when I was tested six months ago. I didn't physically want sex but I sure did mentally and it was driving me nuts. My number 1 issue was stress, which is lowered by lifting and managing my work-life balance as well as a few supplements (ashwaghanda and maca pills). My number 2 issue was inactivity which lifting, especially compound lifts like squats, has fixed.

I feel like I've stumbled into an r/relationships thread, and I vehemently disagree with everyone saying to abort, jump ship, what have you. AWALT: the next one you try to date will do the exact same thing. The problem isn't her, it's YOU. You are either physically or emotionally undesirable, or you have not properly demonstrated how important frequent intimate contact and sex are to you. "I have to beg for anything" is proof enough that not even you respect yourself. Why would she? Despite this…

For 1), even if your SMV is technically higher you will still need dread or social proof (other women checking you out, flirting with you, etc, that she sees or knows about) or she may not approach you. This is the case with my wife and I, at least.

My wife is also pregnant, though it's our first, but sex was nearly nonexistent a couple months into the pregnancy. The real change I made that had great success was outcome independence when approaching sex; I.e., having plan A (coming onto her for intimacy) and plan B (going to workout, play a game, fix something, clean something) if she said "no." I whined and moaned for too long telling her that lack of intimacy was awful and terrible and not what I wanted. She even agreed! But nothing chang…

If anything stood out to me in your post it's that you ask your wife things you really don't need to and honestly shouldn't ask, like what she wants to do or if she wants something. That's implicitly asking permission, handing the leadership reins to her, or giving in to her wants over yours. If you don't have any specific plans on a given night, you need to change that. I don't ask my wife if she needs something because she's an adult and can ask for it. My wife's currently pregnant and sick qu…

I don't really want to be with someone whom I have to continually manipulate to keep me happy Why let someone else, even your wife, dictate whether you are happy or not? You're missing the point: we don't pursue submission or sex with that specific outcome. I have urges and I have means for self-improvement. If my wife chooses to ignore my urges, I'll go do something else; the attraction is a result of self-respect and motivation to do rather than linger and whine. At this point I question wheth…

Every action is manipulation. Each life lesson taught by a parent to their child is manipulation. Every product purchased is the result of manipulation. Training a dog to behave is manipulation! TRP is about mastering one's domain through self-discipline, establishing boundaries, and rolling with the punches. You need to reflect on what makes a good leader if you think any form of manipulation is evil.

This is the correct answer. You're missing variety and excitement. My wife has zero hobbies of her own and while she does all the housework, our sex life is nonexistent because I'm still unplugging from playing video games to de-stress and really don't like leaving the house yet, though I am working on establishing things for me and us to do: outdoor walks and hikes (especially when it gets warmer), visiting friends more often, eating out at a recent restaurant that I've researched once a week; …

Easy: "You didn't mention wanting to do anything for our dating anniversary." And if she delves into the alumni event: "I made plans to attend this event" - please tell me you informed her you were going - "and you knew about it." Keep it simple! You know what's best for you and your career and she didn't make effort to plan an outing or even inform you she wanted to do something. Don't overly explain WHY you chose to go to a career building activity instead of appealing to society's expectation…

I believe two comfort tests were missed: the first when she exposed past abuse and the second when she said she doesn't feel appreciated. You shouldn't bend over and proclaim your adoration for her when these come up but you should respond with a genuine, intimate response. For the first, she's asking for reassurance of security, like "honey, you're not more safe anywhere than with me." She's not confessing an experience, she's unintentionally asking you to be her oak. For the second, I would ag…

Frame doesn't mean ignoring her needs. It means catering to her genuine needs from a strong, firm position. It means that you comfort her when she needs comfort. It means you take care of things when she is unable. It also means you discipline her when she acts out, even if she is afflicted with an awful disease. You need to be there for her but you do not need to suffer outbursts because she is in pain. Your position ought to be "I will do what I can to ease your suffering, but I will not toler…

Re: question 1) I was on adderall for a few years and my initial TRP adjustments included dropping it cold turkey. After a few weeks she noticed the bottle disappeared and I hadn't gone to get a refill so she asked and all I said was "I'm not taking it anymore." You don't have to tell her about it unless she asks. Keep It Simple, Stupid: if you are capable of handling it without her help and it won't affect her, you don't have to proclaim the change. If she asks, tell it like it is: "I don't nee…

You are correct. As married men, we have to nurture from a strong position, as in, beta behavior from an alpha position. In my situation, I failed several comfort tests which led her to seek emotional validation elsewhere. Let me reiterate that her choices are not your fault and you deserve to be with someone who honors her vows.

This is difficult, because while typical TRP advice would be to next her, it would also say that she pursued other sources of intimacy because you were lacking. I've gone through a very small amount of this when my wife would text old beta orbiter friends because I was still on the jerk phase of my TRP adjustment. The decision is yours, but in my opinion you should leave her. Yes, you probably weren't good enough to sate her hypergamy so she cheated, but she cheated. That's instant termination i…

If he chooses to fight for her, it should be based on his desire. That doesn't make that choice BP. I disagree. If she suggests divorce the only acceptable response is "OK" and moving on, then waiting to see when she changes her mind. Fighting for her only validates the idea that OP isn't good enough for her and must fight to keep her which is total malarkey.
